Pubs in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire*
The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Leamington Spa.
Pubs
- Satchwells is great for cheap drinks.. start the night there.. other good bars include Willoughby's and Voodoo.
- the well is good for a friday night laf...its £1 a pint night fridays :-S spells disaster? kelseys is cheap on thurs...Bar leam is good for pool(no one in there EVER)
- Code red is a weekly night held every Saturday at the white horse in Leamington spa. The night is set change the style of the weekend which includes stylish Code Red décor, dancers and more. Lunched in spring last year, Code Red was originally held on Fridays at club mirage. Staying true to its sexy ‘n’ stylish theme, Code Red has become one of the most successful nights in the spa town. Best way to find out is by coming to next Code Red! and to make it even better you get a free shot with flyers!!
- pubs?
- It's got to be Hectors House, (OK, the Talbot) - brilliant
- All pubs and clubs there will serve anyone in my experience, they really don't care about the law in Leamington.
- You're better off going to a club rather than a pub if you want to have an exhausting but amazing night. Leamington has a good nightlife compared to Stratford. Check out Rios, it needs updating a bit now but there's plenty of people around and it's a good place to have a fun night out. Sugar is probably the best of the lot although you will get turned away there more than anywhere else. The upstairs is a little dark but it's a good night out if you get in. The doormen there are plain rude and are on one major ego trip. You can certainly get turned away for not wearing the right clothes, even with a valid ID. I've seen guys not allowed in because they weren't wearing 'dance clothes' even though they were wearing nice jeans and a nice shirt and looked great, ok so what are they supposed to wear exactly?! In contrast, Rios doormen are great! If you wanna go to Sugar, go on a Thursday night, it's Bounce and although you'll usually have to queue longer, it's great fun. But get there near to 10, when it opens, as you're less likely to be turned away for petty excuses then. Check out Mirage too, a pretty cool club.
- Star and Garter and thats it!!!!
- Got to be Voodoo
- Too many crap pubs all full of beered up tossers from Coventry and Kenilworth and Warwick and thick local girls who flash too much cleavage and too much cornbeef thigh.
- I heard that the oak was being reopened, walked past last week and there were people looking around. Quite young...from what I heard (listening at the window covertly! :) !!!) they're gonna be having live bands doing weekend promo's! Will keep an eye out and update!
- Aviod benjamin satchwells at all costs early bird alcoholics at 10:30am all over 78yrs,food is crap how can you burn micrwave shite!!they manage well!
- more of a bar ocean, year 11's always get in! kasa, 12 year olds get in! yates's
- leamington bar, borouque serves coctails for £2:50, excellent value for money and it's not a really shittty bar ethier!
- Voodoo
- white horse pub, if you're underage, don't even think about it, doorstaff ID everyone!
- Slug and lettuce for white russians and nice ladies (expensive beer). Baroque cheap cocktails well made. Ocean full of muppets. White horse full of very young looking clueless muppet pseudo badboys. Voodoo - good but pretetious. Jug and Jester good sofas (expensive considering). Kelseys - FREE POOL, three floors, good jukebox and DJs. Pacific - good DJs. Satchwells cheap but full of office workers. Sozzled Sausage - the gay bar in leamington.
- Avoid the Jug And Jester like the plague. The proprietors are well weird. They through me out for kissing my girlfriend ("We don't have any of that in here!") but were quite happy to let a gang of boisterous football louts abuse and intimidate other customers. Violence is ok but showing affection isn't???? Apart from anything else the landlord looks like Tim Curry from The Rocky Horror Picture Show - this cannot be good. However, his good lady wife has an enormous pair of mammaries that (a) makes her the perfect typical British Carry-On-esque barmaid and (b) lends the pub's name a incredibly apt spin. Who the hell is the jester though?! Hee hee hee.
- awful really, the slug gets too packed, voodoo too pretentious and has anyone noticed the increasing number of people with suprisingly itchy noses????? seems to be taking over the town.
- Jug and Jester. It's simply an establishment.
- Kelly's is a bar that everyone goes to at least once. It's a nice, dark pub with pool and a jukebox and all the other necessaries that make drinking a pleasure. However, it is a rock bar which means that you will encounter many goths and old men who were roadies for hawkwind in the '70s, as well as their catsuit wearing wives who will probably tell you about when they took acid and dance at you in a freaky kind of way. But it has a pub cat who will let you stroke it if it thinks you have food and the likelyhood of you having to elbow your way through crowds of fresh-faced Nu Metal kids to get to the bar is slim, so overall the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages.
- murphy,s cheap drinks mind your,e bags if the lillington girls are out !!!!you know who you are!!!!
- Star and Gartar ( i think its called that, havnt been in a while) Voodoo, Moo
- Robbins Well - superb pub! Its the local hangout for studenty-type people and skaters (most of them being my friends!) Its great for a laugh with your mates, downstairs is definitely the best part, the booths are good if there's loads of your mates all together.
Saxon Mill is a good place to go if you want a chilled out evening with your mates etc. Sitting outside in the summer is the best!
Star & Garter is good if you're like me - i.e. ur a girl and u like looking at women! Because the Star has got a computer gamey-thing where u have to spot 5 differences between 2 pictures of half-naked women. Its great, u could go on forever (well, until u lose all ur lives of course). I have had endless games on that with my boyfriend - that would explain why most of the scoreboard is taken up by our initials (J & M). We have yet to beat the top score thouh. But we WILL do it!
Porridge Pot, Warwick - Absolutely great! The bar staff are exceptionally friendly (its quite scary actually!). My boyfriend always has a game of pool with the owner. Usually quiet which is nice, and they always ask how you are. Drinks are quite good prices. And sometimes the owners even give you free alcoholic drinks! Bless 'em!
- plenty of them, weatherspoons is nice for a quiet one, yates is ok but expensive, the moo bar is great inside, and bar44 do really cheap and nice cocktails on a thursday.
- Loads, all the same, and getting more expensive by the day. Why do they keep appearing, there's no room for any more!!! All trying to be trendy - Cuba, Voodoo, 'V' Bar, Lounge. For some real difference, try Moo bar...quite a retro feel to it, in North Leam. Kelseys is still good for their cocktail pitchers, despite having a facelift so that the plaster has been re-attached to the walls, and there's no evidence of the paint peeling off...it just aint the same.
- Sweeney is now closed but George (the chef) has now moved to the Cask & Bottle where his food is still of the same standard. The Cask shows lots of sports and serves good food. The ratio of men to women is v.high - maybe that's why I work there!!
- This list would be to long if I were to point out individual pubs but I will say that if I were to list the attributes of any particular pub it would be soon out of date as most of them undergo transformations to suit the taste of the day. Those that have undergone such changes which often as not mean them ending up as modern cocktail/lounge bars are better for doing so.
- BENJIS
- of course no pub has served a minor.try tellin everyone that when ur faced with a 14yr of topped up to the point of throwing up, especially winstons.AVOID THE PLACE AT ALL COSTS, esp on a fri night!!!
- Hector at The Albion. The Newbold Common Inn when it hasn't run out of beer
- SATCHWELLS RELIGOUSLY EVERY NIGHT OUT. YOU WILL NEVER LEAVE. IT IS HOME. GOD HELP US
- Avoid Winstons - barmiads are slappers. White Horse always a laugh but seems to have a young following. Cuba is probably be the best new pub
- pacific wine bar
- Hogs Head. Ford RFC? Bunch of plebs. Alot of water has traveled under the Hogs since those sorry days. Morgan was a top Landlord and so have the others that have followed. Excellent Boozer were Old folk meet Young folk for a top drinking night out.
- The White Horse was where I lived for most of my a levels, due to the excessively fit bar man, Andy. Probably the reason I didn't do so well in my exams, but hell, it's still a mega place to hang out. Spesh 80's night, with the funky djs.
- the white horse is now cracking down on underage drinkers, and for the first time i know of in ages, you walk in, and there to greet you are people over the age of 18, taking into consideration, the average age before was about 15!!
- Leamington has more Pubs than Peter Stringfellow has women. Visit them all and make your own mind up.
- The Sozzled Sausage is good, if a bit cramped. Ocean bar is great, as long as you get in early and find somewhere to sit - great for big groups of mates having a get-together
- About the only decent place left in this town is Kelleys, and even that's going up market! For a really nice easy going pub though try the Talbot, (Talbot st, off Clapham terrace) the Landlord Hector is a really nice, relaxed Jamaican bloke, and they even do a mini-festival on Jamaican independance day! (Well worth a visit!)
- Benjamin Satchwells is a cheap place to start the night. No music - could be a good thing or not.
- Definitely Benjamin Satchwells in Lem, Willoughby's and Kelsies after 6pm for free Pool in Lem. The Campbell scream pub in Coventry is my favourite unlike it's sister scream pub in lem Robins Well which I don;t like at all. The campbell has two floors and opens till 2am on Saturdays. Full of Indie boyz and girls and ya occasional Rocker. Good atmosphere and cheap drinks for students.
- satchwells
- Voodoo (near Murphys)- large menu of cocktails and shots; good atmosphere too!!
- Robbins well used to be good but is really trendy now. Kelseys and Kellys are both good though.
- WARNING: NEVER GO TO WINSTONS, THE BOUNCERS DO NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE! GIRLS BEWARE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR SEX! GUYS: THEY TRY TO SMASH YOUR FACE IN!!
GOOD PUBS INCLUDE: THE WHITE HORSE, THE OTHER PLACE, SATCHWELLS, WIG AND PEN, VOODOO AND ROBBINS WELL!!!
- The fine drinking establishment that is the Voodoo Lounge with its exceptionally fit barmaids
- This is probably true of many towns, but the syndicated pub is coming in to destroy most of the smaller pubs with their pint-and-a-burger 70's discoTM drink-your-pint-up-at-11pm-or-I'm-calling-the-police type attitude towards the punter. So most of these large drink 'arenas' seem to be a pretty soul-less affair and not very cosy and mostly transient. Namely: Yates' Winelodge. The Jug and Jester, Benjamin Satchwell's and the Wig and Pen. Then again, that sort of place might be your cup of tea entirely.
- Yep, the White Horse is where it all happens really. Otherwise knwn as the Leamington
Youth Club, this place offers a wide selection of crap beers but if it's pulling you're after
this is the place to go. Also, it's not too far from Sugar if you like that sort of thing.
- Since i am one of the afore-mentioned pissed-up students, i'd like to reccomend the Wig and Pen (just behind the Priors shopping)...£1 entry and £1 a drink Tuesday nights....fantastic place to get bladdered! Proper bottles for £1 as well (Breezers, Smirnoff Ice, Mule etc and good lagers) Not your non-brand rip-off drinks that taste like crap. DJ plays good dancey stuff..bit loud if you want a chat, but the place to be if you want to get wankered!
- I don't do Winstons any more its lacking what it used to have. The White horse is a good night out. Bit packed though. Karaoke is good at the Binswood Tavern on Sundays.
- Coach and Horses - Bit of a dingy place now, needs a bit of re-decoration. Very busy at week-ends, top place to watch live sport on the giant tellys' (even if the sound is broken on one of them) Large crowd of regulars during this seasons 6 nations games. Landlord is from Cardiff, bonus !!!
- The Sozzled Sausage on Regent street top spot!
- The Talbot (Hector's House), Rushmore Street - tucked away but worth it. Jamaica Independence Day especially
The Red House, Radford Road & The New Inn, Leam Terrace - nice gardens
Jug and Jester, Bath Street - lively at bottom o' the town
White Horse, Clarendon Avenue - lively at top o' the town
- Couple of updates!!
Birch and Billycock and Haunch of Vension no longer exsist!
Birch is now Voodoo and Haunch is now The Lounge - both are pretty good
Glasnost (Vodka Bar)- A great place on Regents St for a quick shot of the strong stuff
You name and they probably have the flavour!
Benjamin Satchwell - it is a Wetherspoons pub but its the place to go for cheap
double vodka / redbull (Last time £2.75)
- Not a pub but a bar, try out Ocean. It is under new management and the new atmosphere is quite cool. On saturday nights the best of Leam are all there so go and try it.
- Winstons does good drink deals on a Saturday night. Kellys is good, but loud music and full of students. The best tip is The Green Man. This serves fantastic Chinese food, has a pool table, Sky and jukebox, and best of all stays open till 12 midnight, every night!
- Jug and Jester is a reasonable compromise.
- Robbins Well at the bottom of the Parade is a newish studenty place. Good music and decent prices especially during football matches.
The Jug and Jester is now the cheapest pub in town.
- Ths Hogshead - Doesn't attract the students (good!!) Used to be popular with the lads from Fords RFC until the ex landlord barred them for singing. Good mix of people with a good range of beers. Regular guest ales and good food served all day. Busy on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
- Willoughys great balcony!!!!!!
- every second corner
- The Jug & Jester; for students especially. And they have real ale!
- White Horse- recently refurbished, always packed, usually with underaage drinkers, loud music and cheap beer-Top.
Benjamin Satchwells- Main Hangout for local Warwick Uni students-very big, no music, and full of students making utter twats of themselves on a saturday night. Clean toilets, and good range of beers. Slightly pricy-this one.
Winstons: Pretentious and full of wankers, very small, expensive and dull.
Coach & Horses- until recently was the place where everyone lost thier pub virginity, after multiple glassings and stabbings underwent a makeover and now caters for the over 30's and those trying to avoid everyone they know.
- Depends what type of person you are The Star and Garter is good, has apool table
in a reasonable space, and a table football which is good.
But the White Horse (topm of the Parade) is always packed and so is Winstons
(top of town)
- The Somerville Arms, Campion Terrace/Queen Street. Really good back street local with regular guest beers. The lounge bar is more like a little country pub than a town bar.
- Slug and lettuce, top of town. Fun on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Haunch of Venison (in the Parade). Long, colourful history. Ask anyone in the bar about it. Some say it's where Dick Turpin rode his horse out of a top floor window, but they're drunk. They are confusing it with Randy Turpin's brother's pub (R.T was a reasonably famous boxer), at the back of the Robins Cinema.
- Winstons (well when I last lived there, alright a long time ago)...
- Haunch & Venison
- Woodlands (late!).
- Birch & Billycock.
- Green Man
- wildes wine bar is great for lockins and blow jobs
- The White Horse at the top of town, good in the summer you can sit in the courtyard. The Star and Garter a cool pub. The same goes for The Bedford Inn (Just a couple of doors away from Rios).
- Murpheys!!
