The places where you buy your music
You can tell us more about Leamington Spa.
Record Shops
- hmv and head in the priors both are good
- Fopp is wicked for records.. music of any kind.
- seismic records, above kong behind woolies...really good for DnB nice bloke owns it and will get anythin you ask for! (with in reason)
- Fopp has always catered for the day to day impulse 5 quid purchases, but to get what you want to fill those underground 70's/ modern stoner holes in your collection, try swordfish, tempest or go back in time to plastic factory(RIP)
- Fopp!!!!!
- Fopp in the Priors - it's the best for miles
- ESSENTAIL RECORDS IS WICKED, THE LEADER IN UP & COMING MUSIC IN LEAMINGTON BY A MILE!
- I think Essential records is brilliant it has the up and coming big tunes before anyone else in the area plus i really fancy the guy that owns it, he's really fit!! well worth it 5* the best.
- ESSENTIAL RECORDS IS THE PLACE TO BUY YOUR UPFRONT DANCE MUSIC, MANY YEARS IN THE FIELD AND 110% 121 SERVICE.SITUATED ON REGENT ST AND ALSO ONLINE @ .CO.UK
- Fopp is ok, lots of good offers on classic albums.
- fopp
- Best for tunes has to be Seismic Records (upstairs at Kong) next to Mumbai bluu, also Essential Records on Regent Street isn't too bad either.
- Fopp in the priors.
- MVC at the back of the priors is kinda cool as it sells loads of music and dvd's
- Fopp in the priors is well good for records and stuff like that.
- Fopp is a quality music store, and pretty affordable too!
- Let me fink... er Fopp. Best by miles so many cheap records okay they may not be in charts atm doesnt mean they're pants. You can grab many cd's for a fiver each. Bargain.
- Fopp.
- fopp in the royal priors is a good record shop.
- MVC
- Yep sadly Music Junction formely Discovery Records sadley bit the dust in 1997.Discovery was based in Regent street and was owned by Bob Barnes. The store then moved to the Parade when it continued to prosper untill taken over by another chain intent on turning the store into a market store selling anything but records ie badges, patches etc and hence it's final decline
- FOPP - My ex works there so i get stuff real cheap, has just moved to the ground floor of the priors and gotten a whole lots bigger - excellent selection of everything including vinyl and dvds, most cds £10 £6 or cheaper
- Besides Fopp, Leamington does have a couple of other good independent music shops. Essential Records, on Holly Walk (just off the parade, near the town hall), is a new-ish store selling a wide range of dance records on vinyl. The shop itself is excellent and the staff seem to be very helpful. Alternatively, there's Ricochet Records on Radford Road (turn left at the south end of the parade), a smaller and grottier place specialising mainly in drum 'n bass and hardcore records. Often has a few bargains.
- Fopp - suprisingly good for D&B. several independents start up down the bottom of town but they always go bust
- Definitely FOPP. Coz it might be cool but it's not up its arse.
- Fopp's quite good, and *plug* Andys Records *plug*
- Fopp of course, amazing collection of artists, music, albums and cheap books etc. good for hip-hop, hravier stuff and music that no one else seems to have heard of, also a bargain
- fopp. its cheap and has everything!
- the best record shop has to be FOPP. some think it started in leam, but it didnt. even though the owners family live here.
- Fopp and Andys'records seem pretty well stocked, Fopp being a bit cheaper and MVC is pretty good for music and dvds etc.
- Fopp records back entrance of thr royal priors, sells cheap records, cds, minidiscs books dvds etc
- Fopp, great place! has music you somtimes can't find in other places.
- FOPP
- andys records
- FOPP - the best music shops ever. Albums you were too embarassed to buy when they first came out are now in FOPP for a fiver! Yikes, too good to miss.
- MVC: get a membership card, and get a discount on most buys!!
- Fop records, CD's for a fiver. . . What more can I Say!!
- Fopp is great as it sells all kinds of 'alternative' music as well as more mainstream stuff far more cheaply than at most stores.
- Andy's records. Good selection of vinyls, a lot of deleted items, good sales but the ordering system is lacking in GOODNESS.
Fopp has a silly name but is very good for ya underground and independent tunes. Fopp is very expensive but the sales are shit hot. Situated next door to Legends mentioned below.
- FOPP!!
- Fopp is by far your best bet for anything and everything - good selection of vinyl, new and reissues of classic soul, funk, reggae etc all very very cheap
Soundhouse used to be good but sadly RIP; no, Music Junction is no longer there, unfortunately, last time I was in Leam (I escaped) it had turned into some horrific chain store record shop (didn't actually sell any records though) like MVC or something
- Fopp is pretty good as they have some REALLY cheap stuff and now have a small but gradually growing punk/ska section.
- DONT BOTHER GOING TO WOOLWORTHS, THEY ARE ALWAYS SOLD OUT! AND THE STAFF ARE VERY RUDE!!!
YOUR BEST BET HAS TO BE ANDYS RECORDS, THEY GOT JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING!!
- Fopp records is an excellent place to buy funk, house, indie, hip-hop, rock and more. They have some knowledgeable staff who maintain a good selection of CDs and a large glut of vinyl upstairs with a couple of decks to listen on. If you're looking for old stuff there's some real bargains along with some dirt cheap promos etc.
Goodlife records is down on the High St, a relatively new shop specializing house and trance. The staff are dedicated and friendly.
Talawah records is down South of the railway bridge and specializes in reggae, dance, hip-hop and second hand vinyl. A good place to spend if you fancy going through the racks for a few hours to turn up a few old gems.
- fopp
- There was a place at the bottom of town called Soundhouse but I think it's shut down now thanks to the likes of Our Price and Woolies.
- MVC and Andy's Records
- Fopp must rank in the top ten record shops in the UK - amazing prices. Check out the stacks in the middle of the bottom floor.
- Andy's Records has just opened. It used to be great when we lived in Cambridge - for new and secondhand. Should be good!
- Refering to earlier comment, I worked in Our Price in the Royal Priors for a couple of years, and
it is quite correct to say it really stinks. According to one of the centre engineers I spoke to, this
is due to the large amounts of rat faeces in the air-con system, which is a common complaint in older shopping
centres, apparently. It may be corporate crap, but the staff are really cool and very knowledgable. I'm not
biased, honest.
Music Junction was pretty good, but closed nearly two years ago. Almost all the MJ staff now work for Our Price.
Jane and Sion work in Leamington, and Iwan is now assistant manager of Nuneaton.
- mvp new and not bad at all . have silly members discount system which you can use on first orderso you dont really have to be a member.
- Is Music Junction still around? (used to be excellent for all sorts about 5 or six years back).
- Fopp (part of an independent chain) has a lot of good stuff including plenty of vinyl. Just outside the Royal Priors shopping centre - next to Seatle Coffee Co
- FOP - Cheap and better than the alternatives - 'Our Price' This place stinks, literally I think everyone who goes in there has bad B.O.
