The Best Things
  • SEEING LEICESTER CITY GET RELEGATED..... AND THEIR BABY SQUAD HAVE GOT TO BE THE WORST DRESSED IN DIVISION 3
  • Joseph Merrick's (elephant man's) birth place. Good positive example of a human.
  • Leicester Tigers Rugby Club
  • my band
  • Great place to learn at first hand Polish, Albanian, Iraqi, Somalian, as well as the associated culture, crack dens, prostitution, people smuggling....so if you are a petty criminal and want to expand your skills into the international market...Leicesters the place to go...highly recommended.
  • Curry houses, country pubs
  • Mario's Chippy on Braunny gate
  • the city center
  • Skateboarding.
  • living somewhere where everyone is part of one ethnic minority or another. Race relations are good enough to have civic leaders travels thousands of miles to find out what we're doing right and we have the biggest diwali celebrations outside of India!
  • The people - get rid of the God-awful accent (thankfully mine has all but disappeared) and they're the friendliest and lovliest people on earth. May come across as a bit aloof and distant to begin with, but once they get to know you then you'll wish you'd lived here all your life. Oh, and my house.
  • Leicester is surrounded by beautiful countryside and small villages with pubs and restaurants. The River Soar flows through the city and you can walk along the towpath through the Waterside regeneration area and Abbey Park. At Foxton you can see canal boats being raised and lowered through the locks and there's a waterways museum to visit.
  • in the summertime playing football with the foreign students on victoria park.
  • Kasabian!
  • all the goths sk8rs and greeb i hate these term to describe us but its easier than givin a detailed description
  • Being right in the centre of the country, with good roads in all directions - means you can get to almost anywhere in a few hours.
  • Rhys "MASSIVE" Bingham and his big guns, the ladies cant get enough i hear apparently the police are after him coz he hasnt got a license for his biceps
  • The main road out of Leicester!
  • The main road out of Leicester!
  • The Edge skatepark. The friendly community.
  • All of the corner shops which will willingly sell their grandmas and alcohol for money.
  • in the summertime playing football with the foreign students on victoria park. phoenix arts. the annual jazz festival is worth keeping tabs on. especially after witnessing the deranged magic that was songs of norway/volcano the bear at the y theatre bar in 1999.
  • such a beautiful city in some places, just drive out through loughborough road its like a woddy leafy passge from the center of the city into the countryside. also anywhere along the river is great for late night drinking and BBQ's just dont fall in u will smell!
  • The lads. They are so fit!!!!!
  • Excellent top stars at the De Montfort hall - go see Jools Holland this November. Good Art Film centre at the Phoenix. Lots of pubs with live music. See Leicester City local government web site for links
  • A good Town with a l33t selection of clubs with varying tastes. Good shops for non-mainstream people etc etc
  • excellent bus service. the air of purposeful disorganisation. the market: friendly and cheap. much of what you want is easily within walking distance. aldi for the phenomenal speed of the checkout. good bargains there as well but be wary of very cheap red wine!
  • Great bars and a real ethnic mix which I have not found in any other city in England. You can go out with someone of a different colour without having abuse hurled at you.
  • victoria park skate park is cool.
  • its my local city and its where i can buy everything i need.
  • sex with big nick she's amazing
  • errrrm i'll get back to u
  • The girls
  • Sitting and having your lunch at the fountain. Looking through St Martins and the arcades. The Castle - yes we have a castle....well an archway of it...it always makes me laugh, the prison is more like a castle. The markets quite cool, but i wouldn't go to the indoor market it just wreaks of fish everywhere. Victoria park is good to go in the summer - next to the uni. The uni is quite good although the charles wilson building should be demolished - obviously built by the same people who built the haymarket - orange tiles urhggg!
  • The best thing is that leicester is not to big and whenever you go out you can see plenty of people you know! nightlife is cool aswell, i prefer clubbing leicester to some other better places because u can have a good night for a tenner if u walk home at the end
  • SET DESIGN
  • The bubble machine that blows bubbles out of the shop windows, so u walk up the street with big bubbles floating past you, its great. The cat shop at the top of silver street, sells potery cats has a great range, perfect presents for you mum.
  • Andy:The bubble machine that blows bubbles out of the shop windows, so u walk up the street with big bubbles floating past you, its great. The cat shop at the top of silver street, sells potery cats has a great range, perfect presents for you mum.
  • Leicester uni and branigans
  • Leicester is a fab, cultural, interesting, diverse and most of all relatively unpretentious place to live. I love it! And it has a few good clubs (but just a few).
  • Everybody shops in Leicester
  • Red bull, fags ( smoking's cool and you know it!), lager and sleeping all day.
  • Museums. Loads of them if you like that sort of thing. And if you don't, I suppose. Me? I love 'em. Bradgate Park.
  • i live here
  • Having a Batman
  • Uni's, MKT harborough, Casino
  • The Fish Market
  • Pork Pies - best in the land Bradgate Park
  • Walkers Crisps Linekers stall on the market. Well the whole market.
  • Dominos Pizza, Canton House on Welford Road and The Curry House on London Road. Wilkies Continental Bar for really delicious beer.
  • Another good spot in leicester is the Saffron Lane Sports Arena where both the Leicester Panthers American Football Team and the Rugby League teams train and play.
  • The best aspects of Leicester are due to its true cosmopolitan nature; outside of Bradford it has one of the highest ethnic populations with thriving Asian and Afro-Caribbean communities. If you want any food from anywhere in the world (bar Japan for some reason) you can get it, but more importantly you can get all the raw ingredients to make it yourself (try Narborugh Road, Belgrave Road and parts of Highfields). There are fruit and veg available in Leicester that I'd never even heard off before I lived there. Leicester also has a lot of history and whilst at first glance the town centre is exactly the same as any other in Britain, all you need to do is look up and look sideways to see a very different perspective. Try the Silver Arcade and areas around the Market (great for cheap fruit and veg but not much variety) for a bit of the old Leicester. Also New Walk stretching from the University down to the city is really beautiful in summer and autumn.
  • Any attempt to describe life in Leicester requires considerable attention to the Belgrave road, area. No city in Europe that I can think of off hand contains the extremely rich mix of aroma, culture and colour that Belgrave Road brings, from the many quality restaurants, to the saree shops that dazzle in their brightness, bringing Leicester alive. Therefore I feel that your description of Leicester is very incomplete without greater detail of Belgrave Road.
  • Many pleasant areas for walks close to town, including Abbey Park, Castle Gardens and the canal. Leicester is an evolved city centre which has retained many old buildings with character. Much of the City Centre has been redeveloped, with care taken to preserve the original building frontage. Currently a major redevelopment has removed a complete block near the Clock Tower, leaving only the Lewis' "tower" sticking up into the skyline.
  • Brilliant for remnant bookshops - lots of good stuff at amazing prices.
  • Beer, beer and more beer+ <> in the union bar at the uni
  • Leicester City FC! Its a cliche but it is easy to get away from! The countryside esp Rutland,Charnwood is an discovered classic better than the Cotswolds. Lovely villages,& great pubs.
