Cheap Food
  • Now it gets interesting....heres the lowdown from a discerning diner with plenty of experience of this area: Vie: is not cheap ......can be ok but service is a lottery Ugos: service generally good food mostly ok if a little overpriced although I had a disasterous cheese melt in there once. Irmas: Same people as Ugos ...good pizza but not cheap and good service in the main Bombay Spice: Good value and quality and good service...I go there a lot. Jasmine Garden: I cant believe some gut said Noble House.... I didnt rate it at all...the Jasmine is excellent food and good service. Manolys: Great Thai and good service Estury: One of the best steaks I ever had and never had bad food in there. However, the service has dive bombed. Las time I was in there the miserable waitress play Mariah throughout our entire meal too loud (such class) and people were putting dirty plates on other tables cause they werent getting collected and there were only about 10 people in there..verdict:the only person keeping that place going must be the chef...I've given up on it! Boatyard: Trendy and flash. Ive only been once. The food was good but stupid prices and the service was totally appalling all round. Lots of new money clients...is that classy? Ill give it another go but for the Sunday lunch which is supposed to be cheaper. The Grove at top of Belton Hill is ok food but there is one thing that really puts me off....Its so shabbily put together and finished that it looks like it should have been on DIY SOS for a couple of weeks before it opened. I just cant bring myself to go in there again. Hippos..good for Sarnies
  • the broadway grill they do the best chiken burgers
  • Broadway Grill for the best kebabs in the world. Cafe Pulse is a lovely little veggie restaurant and at nigh you can take your own booze which is great if you want a lovely meal out and save some pennies at the same time.
  • I now live in Manchester. I have eaten curries the length and breadth of the UK, and I swear now, on my life, Leigh has the two BEST curry houses in Britain. The Shima (on the Broadway), and Bombay Spice (opposite Library Gardens). When their good chefs are in, you really can't beat them. And I'll just say it again, I live in Manchester, which seems to think it's the Curry Capital of this land. It isn't. Leigh is. And, if that wasn't enough, the Thai Restaurant, Maonly's, opposite the Carlton, is up there with the best, too. Lucky, lucky old Leigh.
  • Jasmin Garden is the best chinese restaurant and take out in Leigh (in my opinion). The Thai restaurant next door to Woolworths (can remember the name of it) is also excellent, as is Bombay Spice Indian restaurant opposite the Library. The Rendevouz cafe served a fantastic English breakfast for about a fiver but I think it has closed up now.
  • The Estuary diner has just opened and it is really good for breakfast, lunch or dinner and the staff are really friendly.
  • There's a little deli on the corner of Elm Rd and North Street called gusto. Excellent coffee and homemade soups plus a load of Spanish chorizos, etc. Fantastic Neal's Yard cheeses..
  • Well I'm sorry to say that Candles Out shut down a long time ago...approx 3 years ago...so no more post pub sncks from there then.
  • irmas is good for a pizza
  • would like to reinforce the comments on riff raffs, you can feel a really good atmosphere, food is of really high quality and staff are friendly and polite !! what more could u as kfor ?? pop along - its worth it !!
  • The noble house in chalkwell is definately the best chinese take away in town
  • The broadway GRILL!!! lARGE DONER FOR ME!
  • Rif Rafs bar cafe has just opened up on tne Leigh Road. It serves delicious food and is lovely in the summer with tables on the pavement. Inside it is non-smoking and has a wonderful charm and atmosphere!
  • The broadway grill. Macdonalds are nothing when you've had a half pounder with cheese and salad here!
  • Buy cockles, jellied eels or shrimp from Cosgroves or Haddocks just outside the Crooked Billet.
  • I think you should also mention the Shima Indian Restaurant because they don't have red flock wallpaper and they are the best curry house for miles! Also the Leigh Peking in Leigh Road is a fab Chinese.
  • Having lived in Hong Kong these past fifteen months, I'd still kill for a Shima take-out... as someone else stated, by far the best curry house amongst the dozens in the area.
  • candles out in leigh broadway is my favorite place to go for a meal or just a snack. there is a large variety of excellent food which is also cheap and the staff are very friendly. It's open until midnight 7 days a week and also delivers. The best place in leigh fo take away.
