Live Music Venues
- Closest bigger venue is Cliffs Pavillion in Westcliff which is great for stand up gigs and smaller gigs in its Maritime rooms. In fact, I prefer a stand up and drink beer gig here to the Brixton Academy and I can walk home. The Grand has local type bands and there is jazz and bands at the ship in near the old town.
- Upstairs at the Ship on a Frday is a good blues club run by Duncan Stott.
- Let us not forget the Cliffs Pavillion, which , once in a while (about every 10 years) has a genuinely amazing booking (they had Oasis just when they went stratospheric, obviously booked them before it all happened) but tend to have D list bands whose time has been and gawn, ie. last year, Simple Minds, bless 'em.
- Pretty much just at The Grand, but upstairs in the funtion rooms
- Upstairs @ the Grand
- grand is cool, dnt have gigs dat often tho
- The Grand (Hotel) in Leigh Broadway offers period architecture and, up a winding baronial-style staircase, a function room on the first floor. Available for bands to promote their own gigs, it now has a full professionally operated sound system and some basic but effective lights. Lots of touring bands choose to play this gig rather than RIGA in Southend, coz of its atmosphere and history. "They've all been here, mate, The Feelgoods, Thin Lizzy..." More recently the venue has been hosting touring tribute bands as well as mid-week local indie-hopefuls. Check out the gigs listings on this very site for who's on this month.
- the grand has a room upstairs that host a number of bands, if you are luck you can catch the occasional cover band touring the UK
- The upstairs of the grand. Brilliant for indie music!and Doctor Feelgood
- The grande on Leigh broadway, the broker on leigh-road
