You can tell us more about Liss.

Pubs
  • Temple is great for heeowge portions of grub. Crossing Gates looks like the green room for the Jeremy Kyle show...
  • THe bluebell in West Liss...Chris is a great barman and the footie on LCD TV's is great!
  • whistle stop, best cod and chips i've ever had
  • whistle stop, best cod and chips i've ever had
  • Gods Waiting room has got a public bar again and is open all day Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Beers good and the locals are up for a laugh.
  • Pubs in Liss seem pretty poor to me, but you don't have to go far to find some good ones. The Hawkley Inn, two miles away is arguably the world's greatest pub, featuring regularly changing beers, good food (if a bit pricey), music every Saturday night and top grumpy landlord Al. The Harrow in Steep hasn't changed since about 1642, serves beer from the barrel and a small menu of top grub. Excellent treacle tart. The King's Head at Farncombe has great grub, good service and great value.
  • Others who have written before seem to have forgotten the Temple - full of freaks - and the Drovers, err, yeah, same again actually...
  • Since when has the Whistle Stop been a pub thats news to me,with the average age of customers being 55 it is more like GODS waiting room. I've been drinking in the CROSSING GATE for years and have never seen a fight yet, just a bit of friendly piss taking and if you cant take it dont give it.
  • The Whistle Stop is a vilage pub that serves food, NOT a village resturant that serves beer. If you haven't tried it, DONT write about it !
  • Not Brilliant here. You could try the Crossing Gates if you want to spend an evening surrounded by the local idiots. Or if u want a quiet drink you could go to the Spreadeagle (deadeagle), the only people who drink there are the staff!
  • Liss pubs seem preoccupied with providing food which no one wants. There is nowhere lively. Crossing gates + Whisle stop have a younger crowd, but pity Whisle stop has closed the public bar for you guessed it a resturant !
