Can it get any worse?? Well yes it can. Because it could end up with some tit putting it on a website!!! Whether or not its true, or any of us have even heard of the accused, its on here anyway.
Which do YOU think is the worse offense?? I know which one I regard as the lowest. (clue: it aint the one with the girlfriend in it!!)
- Re: can it get any worse?
by joany (Member 10166326) on 16-Nov-2008
So someone was indiscrete with someone else, theres nothing new under the sun, at least in my day we used to have the decency to keep our mouths shut about it to spare innocent parties the hurt. Shame on the gossips who spread hurtful news, its a vicious past time.
- Re: can it get any worse?

There are a darn side worse things happening in Llandrindod alone, so Yes it can get worse.
But if you venture into World news then even those things are minor insignificances.
It happens all the time...someone sleeps with someone else when they should be sleeping with a different someone else. Is it really worth posting it on here???
- Re: can it get any worse?
by Monty (Member 10090440) on 18-Nov-2008
I had a very restful night's sleep as did Mrs Monty. I locked the bedroom door for to deter any midnight marauding cassanovas from entering 'Montyville's' inner sanctum and pleasuring the missus. It seems to have worked, she's was bloody grumpy this morning.

Well Done Monty, as long as the Divine Mrs M is protected, you're doing a grand job, even if she doesn't appreciate it all the time.......

Interesting sentiment jonboy, but look agan. It appears that the one named (and therefore dropped in the sh*t, to use your parlance)is the innocent boyfriend, whilst the "guilty" girlfriend has retained anonimity. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but it seems the humiliation has landed on the wrong person. Or do you think that is ok too??
- Re: can it get any worse?
by richard davies (Member 10233404) on 19-Nov-2008
well to be honest they should all be named and shamed. their as bad as each other. th "inocent" boyfriend tried it on with my missus at a party a couple months back. if your not happy bein wiv sum1 y harm others by staying together just find sum1 else.
- Re: can it get any worse?

by joany (Member 10166326) on 20-Nov-2008
What a load of hypocrites, I'm assuming that no one making 'holier than thou' comments has ever been where they shouldn't - brilliant, I never knew that Llandrindod had so many fine upstanding moral people in it.
And as for naming the two girls that have been named - you're only being brave because they have both left the area, mostly because of shit like this, and aren't here to defend themselves. Unlikely to have been them then, but you can just throw the names about, causing potential damage and walk away because you're using screen names to hide behind.

No no no jonboy, and Richard. The question you asked was "can it get worse?" I was merely answering the question by saying that putting it on here was worse. That isnt to say that I dont think what was done was right. Of course not, its a terrible thing to do, but I have to say I still think putting it on here is worse. Sorry if I gave the impression that I think poppin one to your mates girlfriend is acceptable. I most definitely do not. ok?

If you knew anything you would no that there is hardly ever any fighting at the hampton hotel these days as the place has started to clean its self up. hardly ever any fights at the Hampton - oh come on love, you know thats just not true. The place is full of scumbags most of the time - and as for cleaning its act up, its the best place in town to buy drugs and pick up underage girls. The fighting is optional......

Missing girl found in Yorkshire
Police are speaking to Lauren Morgan after she turned up in Dewsbury
A 13-year-old girl who went missing has been found after walking into a police station about 150 miles from her home.
Police had been "very concerned" about Lauren Morgan, who had not been seen since Friday night, and could have met people she knew through the internet.
But on Sunday morning she reported to police in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.
Dyfed-Powys officers say Lauren, of Howey, Llandrindod Wells, is "apparently safe and well" and are travelling to Dewsbury to see her.
Earlier, police said Lauren had been communicating with people on social networking websites.
She had last been spotted at 2200 BST on Friday, and Lauren was asked to contact police or her family to let them know she was safe and well.
Officers said she could have travelled to meet an internet contact or had been met by one of them.
She had gone missing before and police had also said she could have been with friends in her home area.
Specially trained officers are talking to Lauren to try to discover where she has been since Friday night, while Dyfed-Powys make their way to Dewsbury to help their colleagues

£4 million.!!!! Its ok though because they will probably employ the same person at Powys CC (who didnt read the small print in the 1st instance) and chose to put the 4 million in there to sort it all out again!!! But of course they will have to have a salary increase to do this "responsible" job-IT JUST GETS WORSE. And as for no frontline services being affected-lets wait and see what Powys does shall we????
- Re: Iceberg hits Powys
by huw jass (Member 10180255) on 9-Oct-2008
You have to wonder whats going on in some of these local authorities. I was reading in a paper today about an asylum seeker from Afghanistan living in London. She had 6 kids and her local council decided that she should have a 7 bedroom house. They ended up renting a house for her that was worth £1.2m. The monthly rent was over £12k. Fair do's to the woman she actually said "i thought they were mad" and "it is too big for me to clean". One of her sons said "it was like winning the lottery". Altogether she was getting benefits worth £170k a year. ... more >>

| Peace Time Blackout
|
by joany (Member 10166326) on 1-Oct-2008

What I can't quite understand about the great light switch off is this -
Why haven't PCC replaced the current sodium lighting with LED lighting?
The sodiums that they use at present use about 400 watts per hour (as far as I can tell, I'm willing to be corrected on that if anyone knows differently). They also need changing approximately every year or so - thus costing us in maintainance charges.
If the council were to change to LED technology the lights would use approximately 35 watts per hour (that I am sure of..........) and last approximately 100,000 hours, which at average usage of, say 12 hours a day, would last about 20 years.
I know that the initial outlay would be a factor, though the LED lights aren't horribly expensive, but compared with people in the 21st century having to walk about at night with torches, or glow-worms in a jar, it would be worthwhile - or are we still harking back to our dodgy Victorian heritage?
What happens when its dark at 4pm in the depths of winter and kids are walking home from school?
What really made me laugh is that within days of the switch off being announced, the B&R were running a piece by the police warning owners of nice cars to park in well lit areas, so Powys County Hall Car Park might get a bit crowded at night.......... ... more >>

by rainbow (Member 10232016) on 1-Oct-2008
yes and won't it be lovely walking past the new "hotel Gywnfa" on these dark winter nights with no street lighting??? Don't get me wrong I've nothing against the homeless-a lot of cases are very sad- but what and who are we going to have in there? Powys may as well impose a curfew and make us all be in by a certain time as many I know are not going out after dark. And have you seen how dark it is by the Commodore? God don't start me off ......!! ... more >>
- Re: Peace Time Blackout
by Darrel (Member 10232372) on 2-Oct-2008
if they were to use LED's in the street lights, they could also add solar panels to the top of each light
- Re: Peace Time Blackout
by joany (Member 10166326) on 2-Oct-2008
I've seen them, (the solar panels), used along with little windmills along motorways and A roads.
It would be nice if Powys were to be a bit forward looking rather than just a reactionary bunch. A bit of lateral thinking wouldn't go amiss either.

Yes what about that ufo outside the autopalace ive been waiting for it to land now for months!! Its a good idea but theres been no thinking behind much off this.
And why are all the lights on between llandod and howey?
- Re: Peace Time Blackout
by LesleyAnne (Member 10176237) on 5-Oct-2008
The lights on the main trunk routes (Llandrindod to Howey) are the responibility of the Highways Agency. So Powys do not pay for these lights to be on.

Voluntary agencies are to have an 'across the board' 15% cut in their funding.
I'm not a great fan of voluntary agencies, but I'm sure that none of their running costs will have magically dropped by 15%, so the cuts in funding will almost inevitably lead to job losses and cuts in services.

- Re: Peace Time Blackout
by CallMePop (Member 10151609) on 7-Oct-2008
Although efficient, LED street lighting doesn't appear to be efficient enough to replace conventional sodium street lighting. Taking a look at http://www.gemmalighting.com/products/jupiter/ for example, their 48-LED lamp draws 65 watts and gives out 4800 lumens of light. A 70 watt SON (high pressure sodium) street lamp gives out 6000 lumens, comparable to a 300 watt halogen floodlight.
Sodium lamps also benefit from a long lifespan (25,000-30,000 hours) so it looks LED technology still has some way to go before replacement of the fittings becomes cost effective.

- Re: Peace Time Blackout

Key glow worm facts:
Only adult females glow, to attract the flying males
Adult glow worms can't feed, so they can live only for 14 days or so
Once a female glow worm has mated, she turns out her light, lays eggs and dies
Leave glow worms where they are – they know best where they like to be
Don’t take glow worms home – they need specialised habitat ... more >>

Two thirds of our street lights turned off. Its ok though, Powys have their new £110,000 carpet now, and I'm sure that that will benefit us all far more than the odd street light would have done. We should remember whose behalf the Local Authority is run for....... its not for us folks, its for all those well paid types at County Hall.

if only the public knew just how much our council tax money was actually being wasted
- Re: Petrol ........... again
by joany (Member 10166326) on 21-Sep-2008
When the Gwalia offices were painted recently, the team doing the work (no, not from round here of course, its not important that local money is spent locally.......) had almost finished work when 'someone' decided that the colour wasn't right, so it had to be redone, at a ridiculous extra cost. Its important that the little dears working there have the right colour of course :) but maybe they could have got it right first time thus saving us all a fortune. ... more >>

back to the petrol pricing -I try to buy just a small amount at Knills (if I really have to) and then top where its cheaper elsewhere-I begrudge every penny I give that lot-they've had the monopoly for so long !! Roll on Tesco!
- Re: Petrol ........... again
by joany (Member 10166326) on 21-Sep-2008
what happened to Tesco's then, are they still coming or has the local vested interest group managed to see them off?

Tesco's is still coming.

Does anyon have any idea when. They seem to have had the planning permission for an awful long time now without actually doing anything.

In response to the comment that says 'well paid council types'....... I work for them, and get less than I did in previous employment. I also agree that the council waste money and are useless......
- Re: Petrol ........... again
by joany (Member 10166326) on 23-Sep-2008
I'm sorry to hear that Blue, but you have to admit that most of the better paid jobs in the area are those gained by working for the local authority. We pay their wages from ur hard earned cash and then they fritter it away on useless projects. I just wish that council tax was voluntary so that we only had to pay them when they did things that benefit us all.
- Re: Petrol ........... again
by iyper (Member 10199197) on 23-Sep-2008
would u rather pay a set fee every month ie council tax or pay as u use service? taking in mind that u prob throw 1-3 bags of rubbish every week away, u might use the recycling services, u use the roads they build, more than likly EVERY day. they help local projects like kids clubs in the summer etc.
without hte funding of the council im sure u would start seeing alot more costs u dont see now.
but i cant complain very much as they giving me a job with more money than the same job im in now :) ... more >>

Yes, Whitenoise, its the usual reaction :)- trouble is, with jobs being only on short term contracts these days, its hardly worth selling up to move nearer a job and then having to do it again a year later...... oh for the days when jobs were pretty much for life and you got a decent pension - at this rate I'll still be working when I'm 90.
Quite what that has to do with the cost of petrol I don't know, but its another thing to moan about now I'm becoming a proper old bag. ... more >>

The pool table cloths are more speedy than most of the regulars in the legion. I tried to move quickly in there once but was inconvenienced by the sticky lino flooring which rooted me to the spot and then I was engulfed in a gaseous cloud of B.O from the domino corner.

Oh Monty, I had a similar experience in the old spinning wheel several years ago - I know that its changed hands and all that now, But I can't bring myself to go back through that door.

been going there for years and never had a prob in there, especially not with sticky floors considering the pool room is carpeted!

I was stuck to the ceiling in the spinning wheel once. Mrs M painted my jacket with evostick and then threw me up there. I was hovering over my cooked breakfast for weeks.

Oh she's a fine woman is the divine Mrs M.
I can believe it about being stuck there for weeks though, that would have tied in with their cleaning regime :)

Apparently they got the wrong question and answer mixed up. The correct question apparently was which county is the most medicated in the UK. Hence why, 1st powys & 2nd Manchester.
