• THe Bird in Hand houses the notorious FAT GANG. With their leader Biggles and side show Bluey, you will be able to encounter endless hours of fun and sometimes abuse. Rainie (depending on the quantity of alcahol consumed) will seranade you with her wonderful dulcet toneS, an event not to miss, and often the main highlight of a Sunday lunchtime.You must remember to ask Biggles about his Grnad Prix escapades, as this works very well as a sedative for insomniacs.You are sure to be invited to go on somewhere, after closing, if you have bought all of the FAT GANG at least five pints of their favourite brew.
• The Green Dragon is the only pub in the middle of the village and is actually a bit better than it looks. Has the air of being a Midlands or Northern boozer rather than poncey southern shandy bar. Expensive but high-quality pool table and shows the footie on the big screen. Bands and karaoke and the usual rubbish. The Bird in Hand is a bit out of town on the Lovedean Lane and offers a more authentic county pub feel. Wooden beams and real ale and chunky sandwiches. They even have a roaring (fake) log fire. Recommended.
