The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
  • Look at the ground in the Town Centre (but don't bump into anyone) and you can see pictures on tiles created by people of various ages (I think)!
  • Half the schools are on special measures, check them out carefully before sending your child to school here. It's not the schools fault, they're fighting a losing battle with half of the kids who just don't know how to behave. Cut out the middle man, label them all ADD and ADHD and stuff them with pills, it's easier and less time consuming. Funny how ADD and ADHD weren't around in the 80's.
  • Best Corner Shop: Cadbury's.
  • THEY LIVE 5 YEARS BEHIND EVERYBODY ELSE 3RD WORLD TOWN COMBINE HARVESTER COUNTY
  • BLAH
  • skateboard or die bite me u scum
  • skateboard or die bite me u scum
  • The Sparrows Nest Gardens are a lovely place to hang out in the summer when there is a live band on or a performance.
  • Annual Airshow over sea. Beach has won many awards. Monty Python's Fish-Slapping scene is supposed to be set in this rural fishing town. (Palin was born in Suffolk)
  • Just to correct some of the surf info - it's 'Dimmo's', not 'Bimmo's', named after a classic local surfer/fisherman from the area. Big winter southerlies still sometimes push in good swells to the South Beach, best formed banks vary from year to year. Lowestoft was once home to one of the biggest surf clubs in the country, and still has a number of hard-core year-round locals. Board Talk is the local surf shop, by the harbour. Paul Nicker in Gorleston shapes 'Seabeast Surfboards' and has a website - www.seabeast.co.uk. You'd be hard pushed to find waves in either Hunstanton or Southwold, if there are any, it'll definitely be better somewhere else, maybe East Runton or Cromer. Maurice Butler was the pioneer of surfing in Lowestoft in the late sixties, and still surfs today, along with son and grandson. Neil Watson is a respected surf photographer/journalist/videographer living in the area. Check out his latest vid - 'Grey Juice', to see what East Anglian surf is really like.
  • TO THE WRITER FROM BURNT OAK. WE LEFT BURNT OAK OVER 30 YEARS AGO BUT ONLY ARRIVED IN LOWESTOFT EIGHT YEARS AGO (MOVED ABOUT A BIT). WE BOTH WENT TO GOLDBEATERS WHEN IT WAS A SECONDARY MODERN. DON'T THINK ITS A SCHOOL AT ALL NOW. LEAVE MESSAGE ON NOTICEBOARD TO TALK MORE.
  • Egoes Gym - if you're into abusing your body with weights and various "post inquisition" exercise machines then this is the place. Smart, clean, reasonably priced and friendly staff. Day memberships available.
  • I left Burnt Oak many years ago but have finally ended up in Lowestoft. I went to Goldbeaters Secondary Modern. I think its a Lower School now, does anyone know. I would like to read any news from the old place.
  • Beach:The only redeaming feature of Lowestoft in the summer, nice sand and when winds right possible to surf or bodyboard please note this is no Cornwall don't expect big waves. Could try up the coast at Hunstanton for better surf. Supposedly Southwold south(!) of Lowestoft is good for windsurfing and surfing.
  • If you think that Lowestoft is a load of '''''. Then perhaps you are right, the best place to surf around here is bimmos but the county council has just cordened of the car parking spaces for surfers. Gutted. There's loads to do around here you've just got to know how to get it off.
  • Lowestoft is lovely in the summer time, but bloody dead in winter.
