Is there a man out there who can satisfy my needs? I am an interesting widow in my early sixties, and I am still young at heart. I am looking for a local man to keep me warm at night. The best way to find me is via the www dateagranny dot com web site - I would rather you find me there than email me directly - I hope you understand. Sylvia x

LutonLive.com hosts the longest running and most popular cam in Luton but I want to make it better. It attracts virtual tourists and people with affinity to Luton, including students, workers, family, friends and expats.
You can help by also setting up a cam.. it's easy to do and it's fun. Come along and take a look.
Thanks

| RETURNING TROOPS

I have just read with dismay about the return of the Anglian Rgt and the abuse they endured during their march through Slough, these young men did what they had to do in Iraq,it wasnt a pleasant tour for them. These young men were trying to make a foreign country safe for its indiginous people,it seems to me that if we stood back and did nothing we would be damned and if we did something we would s till be damned-a typical no win situation. As for the small minority who labeled them as "butchers" and "child killers",if these people feel so strongly about the situation why dont they return to Iraq and join the Iraqi police force or the Iraqi army and strive to make a difference in their own country. Our young soldiers are Lions being berated by donkeys.I am not a racist, its just not in my blood, but I am proud to be British and so should anyone who is resident in this country, whether they be assylum refugees, immigrants,or British subjects,if my views upset anyone who reads this, please accept my apologies, just remember one thing you chose to come here and we welcomed you. ... more >>

| CHARITY ADVERTISING SCAM
|
by gayguy (Member 10209521) on 1-Oct-2008

As printed in the Mirror Newspaper:
'CONMAN LYON BACK ON PROWL'
SORTED
Penman & Sommerlad 05/04/2007
"HERE'S an alarming sight: habitual charity conman Peter Lyon arriving at the offices of a charity fundraising operation.
Lyon's made a pile by raking in funds that kind donors think will help worthy causes.
He lives in a big detached house and drives a top-of-the-range Merc with personalised plates.
And it's no wonder he's loaded when you look at his string of charity scams.
First there was Barrington House Publishing Company, run by Lyon until it was put into compulsory liquidation with debts of more than £2million - and the shyster was made bankrupt.
Out of its ashes rose Barrington House Publishing Corporation.
As a bankrupt, 44-year-old Lyon could not be a director but he managed to be the highest paid person in the building, netting £176,400 a year plus a £103,000 company Merc.
The money came from the £3.5m the company raked in by conning firms into paying for adverts in wall-planners, saying the cash would help sick children.
Mainly it helped sick conmen like lying Lyon, of Halsall, Lancs.
Barrington House Publishing Corporation, aka McKenzie Campbell Publishing, was also shut down by the High Court.
But that sort of thing doesn't stop someone as greedy as this slug. His next charity fund-raising scam was called Hamilton Forbes Ltd.
Again, you wouldn't have found Lyon's name on the company books.
But he got the lion's share of the proceeds - or, as the Insolvency Service put it, he was one of the "main benefactors" from the money they got from wellintentioned advertisers.
The watchdog added that the company accounts were "at best inaccurate, at worst misleading".
Only around 5p from every £1 raised went to help sick children, not that donors were told that.
And the advertisers didn't even get any decent publicity from their plugs on the wallplanners - because only a pitiful handful were ever printed and distributed.
Which brings us to the Honeyrose Foundation, a small charity helping terminally ill adults, that Lyon's was visiting.
A noble cause, but possibly run by somewhat naive individuals.
After getting a call out of the blue from someone they'd never heard of, they struck a deal to allow this stranger to raise money on their behalf.
The charity gets £2,500 a month. Which is nice.
But when we asked them what proportion of the total amount of money raised in their name this represented, Honeyrose admitted ... more >>

by gayguy (Member 10209521) on 1-Oct-2008
...they didn't know.
According to the charity, the fundraiser who approached them was an Andrew Garside, a sole trader who ran something called Chestnut House.
The charity didn't have a landline for Garside but gave us his mobile. We've called it repeatedly and it's never been answered.
Garside may be a sole trader of Chestnut House but he is also the secretary of a company named Armstrong Faith Ltd.
Its director is a Lisa Colford - who just happens to be a Peter Lyon crony who worked at his Barrington House, McKenzie Campbell and Hamilton Forbes scams.
We've no idea how much Chestnut House or Armstrong Faith are getting from the deal because it's only just been set up.
But the involvement of Colford is not a good sign.
And the fact we spotted Lyon arriving at its offices is nothing short of horrifying".

| Looking for some old friends from Farley Hill & Luton
|
by Dirk (Member 10230137) on 7-Aug-2008
|
Does anyone have any phone numbers, email addresses for some old friends of mine, I met them between 2000 and 2001 in the Luton area.
Jenny
Surname unknown,(short blonde peroxide hair) - I think she used to deliver videos in the Luton area, worked for a local TV production company in Dunstable, and lived in a flat above the shops in Market Place, Farley Hill (in Whipperley Ring). About 5'2 Very young looking (looked 10 years younger) but at time was in early 40s. Had a couple of kids.
Tracey Foley, (not sure on spelling of first name) shaved her head for charity in 2001, had shoulder length blonde dyed hair - worked as a dental nurse locally... (another non natural blonde!) and friend of Jenny.
Nigel Harrison, into videography, suffers with Parkinson's disease, in his late 40s and lives somewhere in Luton (at that time).
They knew me as "Dirk", my nick name - my real name is Derek, to jog your memories, see a pic of me on my personal website here... http://www.derekfoley.com or you can find me on facebook as Derek Clifford Foley in the London group.
If anyone remember's any of these people, I'd love to get in touch with them - please contact me on knowwhere@derekfoley.com ... more >>

Looking for my two cousins, unfortunately can't remember their names, their mum & dad lived in Hemel Hempstead. John and Lily Wickens, my aunt's maiden name was "Turner".
I believe John and Lily have passed away many years now, would like to contact my cousins though.
Any other Turners or Andersons in Luton please contact me, or any relatives of Sadie Turner my other Aunt who lived in Luton, not sure of her married name, she did have a son called Vincent who had committed suicide back in the 1960's, I know that she lived on Meryck Avenue in Luton.
My dad William George Turner had attended and was involved in various churches in Luton, Chequer Street and Dallow Road, I was born in Luton and lived there for 7-years before moving to Scotland with my parents.
My Grandad John Turner lived in Luton and was an Evangelist for the Elim Pentecostal Church.
Also my cousins Janet,Peter and Roger Anderson, children of John Anderson.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks.
