Pubs in Macclesfield, Cheshire*
The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call
You can tell us more about Macclesfield.
Pubs
- They don't have pubs in Macc, - they're brawling parlours. Why would anyone want to go out in Macc?
- spoons bar 15 for good deals on wine monecoes zambuca shots 1 pound!!!!
- Just bob down to bolly (5 mins in car), theres two pubs for every house, and once you've had one pint in every pub, you can drive back home. Wicked!
- Millstone, White Lion, Kusch for you HOEGARRDEN, KUSCH Too for good wine and Kronenbourg Blonde
- 15s
- Bate Hall the best!!!! (for the moment)
- Ship Inn.
Best pub in macc.
- Macclesfield, once the town of a thousand pubs, has lost its crown. All the pubs are closing and the ones that are left (still a fair few mind) are filled with over 50s just sitting about drinking themselves to death. It's awful. Most people just go to the off licenses and go to their friends house or wander the streets if they're "fresh faced".
- The Flower Pot without doubt the best pub and beer garden in Macclesfield!
- wherever they sell alcohol Im happy. When Im broke, its wetherspoons obv!
- bate hall LOL
- The Cock Inn Henbury, the best value for money food in the world, i should know i have travelled it.
Paul Smith.
- Nags Head, Waters Green, still the best biker friendly pub ever and one of very few pubs where a refurbishment has actually IMPROVED it!!!
- the queens hotel macclesfield is the best pub in the whole fucking world.
everyones freindly and theres alot of nice people.
and a pool table.
u can buy frisps and peanuts.
nuff said.
(ooooh its a quid a pint) ;)
- pubs near mill lane terrible. Railway view and sun inn ok. Fox and grapes is hell on earth, like something out of 'twin peaks'
- HEY EVERYONE the MILLSTONE is open until 1AM on fridays and saturdayS. JIMMYS PUKKA PIES ARE ACE. If your broke lager is only £1.47 a pint at THE QUEENS.
- HATE MACC!WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS IT IS FILLED WITH SCUZZBALLS ON DISCO BISCUITS. LOOK FOR A PUB IN THE STICKS, WITH GOOD MUSIC,EXCELLENT BEER AND FOOD,POOL TABLE, GOOD CROWD AND A CURIOUS MISINTERPRETATION OF THE LICENSING ACT. PERHAPS THE ST DUNSTAN AT LANGLEY ABOUT 2 MILES OUT OF MACC WOULD SATISFY THIS REQUIREMENT
- msq....cheesy!!!
- Don't ever go 2 ,macc pubs cos they smell and they will just poison you!
- The Millstone, nice place, i watched a few wolves games there and there are some unique characters in there. One guy who got progressively more and more drunk during an England game as he shouted to anyone who would care to listen about Ronny Moore and how good a job he was doing at Rotherham: 'that ronny moore, they only give him like 25,000 quid to spend and they're challenging for play offs' - genius!!
- The best place to go nowaday's is Kush bar or Jar Bar... quite trendy and full of talent!! but in my fresh faced and remarkably young day's i't had to be the Bull's Head in the Market Place... anyone remember the 50p a shot deal they used to have.... i've still got the flyers in bed room somewhere and of course the Castle used to be an old favorite even though it was the bobby's local!!
- Prince Of Wales on Roe Street is fantastic. Please don't go in the Litten Tree. Wetherspoons is cheap, food ain't bad, but some of the clientele is so pre-pubescent it resembles a nursery.
- Waters Green Tavern - marvellous real ale and REAL home cooked food at lunchtime - you've got to have the chips - they're just like you're mum used to make!!!
- For a trip to the past try The Franklin Arms, NO jukebox, NO Slot machines, NO aggro. Instead REAL people with opinions, conversation, skittles & darts. Great landlord Jeff. The wonderful Joan passed away several years ago...a living legend in her time. For a contrast try what used to be the Rising Sun, now 'Millers' all thats worst about the licensed trade in 2002. No atmosphere, Eurofizz, Microwavable food and decor which could make you think that you were in any one of 10,000 identical places in Britain. PS If staying be sure to take your own eggs & butter for breakfast. Only redeeming feature some of the staff you stay with it...God knows why!
- Stay away from the Waters Green Tavern if you're a) Female b) Not that fussed about beer mats.
- Flowerpot, White Lion, Red Lion, Bears Head, Jolly Sailor, Nags Head and the Bate Hall - probably all trendy bars serving the same idiots now wearing posh clothes.
- Weatherspoons and yates both a good crack on a friday in macc.
- The Middle Wood on the silk road is good for the boy racers as they can have a pint and then race down the road turn back round at the tescos round about and the looser buys all the drinks. Thge food is great as well. Never ask for a btf gammon steak though coz they get deep fat fryed.
- Abariginals is well cool as they let you in until midnight not 10.30 like all the rest of the crappy late nite pubs ie Litter Tray, Yates etc.. Cute tall barmaids Karaoke on Wednesdays is packed - a good laff
- UNDERGROUND trust me its great unless u hate metal
- Nags Head. New owners. Great people. Should be good after it's been refurbished...
- The Underground, Millstone, Nags Head
- The nags head have just changed owners and there pretty allright
- The woodman what a place. Mingle with celebrities in this exclusive bar and enjoy one of the finest pints in Macclesfield. Ask friendly bar staff for a look at the extensive cocktail list. Macc has some of the finest pubs in the north-west, a happy welcome in all try the bulls head, the queen hotel, the three pigeons or for something a little different try the amsterdam bar (hello sailor!)
- Full of pubs, too numerous to mention. The Old Millstone on Waters Green is a bit pricey but keeps out all the idiots and is a drinking spot for local celebrities. The Leather Smithy up by Macc Forest is great for Sunday Lunch and an all dayer.
- TONS AND TONS AND TONS OF PUBS IN MACC FAR TOO MANY TO MENTION AND IF YOU CANT FIND ONE TO SUIT THEN YOU ARE VERY VERY FUSSY!
- What about The Puss In Boots....I hear they do great quiz nights on Thursdays!
- Nags Head. Nuff said
- yates's wine lodge used to be quality when i worked there with the old skool crew but wetherspoons and the litten tree has taken most of it's business by undercutting prices (wetherspoons) or just generally looking nicer. small pubs worth a visit include the castle, the pack horse (on broken cross) and last but definitely not least, the weaver on thornton square (be prepared for some funny stares if you've never been in before). daytime drinking in macc is always a good laugh especially because most places do a happy hour. trouble is, even if u go out at 11 in the morning in macc u always seem to manage to stay out all day... i almost forgot, the jolly sailor needs to be seen
- Does the Nags Head still have decent bands on like the Macc Lads? I hear it went a bit shit after 1995.
- I have been a Macc Lad all my life (21 years) and Macc is a really nice place if you can avoid all of the nob-jockeys. The millstone is the best place for a casual drink in the week, but weekend the plaes now are Yates's Weatherspoons MSQ on a friday and the Litten Tree on the saturday. I am out here every weekend and love every minute.
Mutley McLad doesn't drink in the bears head anymore as it changed to the "ferkin" now it is owned by some queers and called "Kusch" Total gaybar. Only go here if you are swinging the other way! Better yet, just don't come to macc if you are like that as more than likely you'll get battered by some mindless scally.
- St Dunstan in Sutton - a must for a true pub pilgramage.
- New Pub/club just opened called the Litten Tree Great place to go Friday and Saturday and very chilled out during the week and a damn site better than The main cheese which is full of wankers
- Millsone, the Boarhound (if you like drinking with a load of deformed old men who look like the New Schmoo - oh, and Chris Hall and the rest of the Brook Street Massive)
- flower pot
- The Flower Pot. Accessable from quite a nearby schools. Ahem. Enough said.
Millstone is good on Fridays and Saturdays.
Not keen on the Litten Tree, like Yates but a few yards up.
- TRY WIMSLOW !!!
- THE MILLSTONE- depressing and strangely enjoyable. Has anyone noticed how Hulley practically lives in there? I wonder if she can physically go anywhere else?
- the underground (the george)
The Railway
PREACHERS (Joking!)(unless yo' a slapper)
- The Millstone (aka home) has got to be the best of all, pop in for a bit of banter from Jim and Karren (but don't get on her bad side) and a swift pint of Marsdon's. It also has cool quiz machines and pool tables plus a stonking juke box, it's funky yellow since the renovation and has an amusing sign pointing towards the 'Joilets'. I've had some joy in there I can tell you!!
Don't go into 108's next door, it's owned by a 50 year old tart who wants to be 20 again. And she pumps out the hard house and cheese as loud as she can when she only has 4 people sitting at the bar
- Nags Head, George, Flowepot, Bears Head, Durham Ox, 108s, Millstone, Crown, Queens
- Waters Green Tavern.
- Crackin pubs full of the salt of the earth
- Nags head-See the new tenants Paul+jo, great pair, will make you welcome. Well, that is if you fulfill any or all the following requirements; Long hair+leather jacket, motorbike, xtreme dislike for dance music, can play pool better than Paul (not that difficult by the way) or can outdrink any of the Macc Lads.
Knights bar-new bar not long opened, good music and reasonable beer prices.
- Macc is full of decent pubs and decent ale, especially if you head eastwards towards the Pennines, eg Hanging Gate, Highwayman etc. Don't drink and drive though or else you could end up off the side of a mountain..........
- The robin hood , but John the landlord , his bark is worse than his bite. ll!!! they also have a quiz on , on a Sunday night @ 9.00pm , but you need to be extraordinary clever people, with all of Stevens quiz book questions.
- The Shit (sorry - SHIP) Inn on the way to Tythy
- Waters Green Tavern - fab range of ales Porters, Roe Street - yet more great beers. Abariginals, Pickford Street - try a roo burger NOW ! Bulls Head - loads of yopung totty !
- You must try the Sun Inn on London Road, excellent range of varied beers and the Spice Girls records have been removed from the juke box.
- Cool Pubs in Macc Millstone, Waters Green, Puss in Boots, Fools Nook, etc
- Flowerpot
- Best place for quizzes/ Karaoke night Thursday night, gets packed out. Beer is reasonable, so are the women :)
- Millstone
- Best place for anything and everything else.
- Bulls Head
- Good place to go on a Friday and Saturday night before going somewhere late or to Manchester.
- Bate Hall
- Reasonable pub, but full of kids.
- Millstone
- Nice pub, but not as good as it used to be...
- Good pubs in Macc are the Bulls Head, Bate Hall apart from now it resembles play school instead of a pub.
- If you want a good laugh in Macc, get on a Mountain Bike and get your arse up Macc Forest and up to the Cat 'N' Fiddle pub for a quick pint. You never know, you might even get to race the odd car back down the road to Sutton. Check out the Pubs in Bollington. Try the Poachers Inn.
- Nags Head, Waters Green. Under new management now Ray's retired. Same old greasy Nags though. Good beer, loud music, the local long hairs, the odd biker, and any other reprobates that happened past. Great place.
