The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
- Stop bloody moaning about Macclesfield, if you hate it that much buggar off somewhere else and stop pigging moaning, after all your in charge of your own life. It's your own fault if your lifes crap, get of your arse and do something about it, become a member of the local council and make a change, cause a riot, anything that makes a difference. And if all fails, piss off down south.
- Great town to go on the piss, if you're not an arse hole you'll be sweet, if you are expect to be beaten tee hee u shandy boys lol
- I hate being catagorised into "SCALLIES" just coz we decide to where comfy close and nice trainers doesn't meen were bad people.
- Basically, Macclesfield is shite if you're not filthy rich. Comes down to it that there's fuck all to do and no prospects. People who stand up for it have enough money to spend most of their time at home or out of town. The rest of us have to live with the depressing, boredom that is Macclesfield. Though if you ask us we'll pretend we like it and make loads of jokes about how it's the Macca of the known world and how we hate southerners. But deep down we hate it, it's a truly awful place.
- Macc is known as SmacklesField to many outsiders, due to the inherant smack problem illustrated by such local heroes as Simmo.
- Macc is a lovely place to live and grow up in. Surrounded by stunning countryside, and full of history and character. People who bad mouth it really must be depressed folk who can't see further than the end of their noses. We've got loads of traditional pubs and places to eat, as well as newer wine bars and clubs. We also have a lovely town centre with some very old architecture. Plus Manchester on the doorstep if you fancy a bigger night out. To people who aren't happy - live somewhere else and let those who love it here, live here!!
- I would just like to point out that Russell Kellar from Macclesfield, you know with the shop on chestergate is not a nice guy at all. He has just been charged with seven counts of child abuse. Nice.
In short i would just like to say that Macclesfield is the worst, most soul destroying place i have ever had the misfortune to live. If you are thinking of moving here- DONT DO IT.
- * Council estates vary widely. Moss Rose is grim, while Weston, although boring, is reasonably pleasant.
* It has the worst ring road in the UK. Actually it is two ring roads that seem to meet right in the CENTRE of town!
* THere seems to be an unwritten bigotry and unacceptance of gays, which manifests itself, or did in the 70s, in a high level of cottaging in toilets.
- * Discerning folk know that Macc has to be one of the best places to be in the world, not just Britain. I agree with the guy who says that there are only 2 types of people who hate it - those who’ve never lived there and those who’ve never lived anywhere else.
- there is nothing for teenagers to do. ie no cinemas cafes u18s clubs there is nothing 2 do!!!!!
- The MAcc LAds, who came from Sunderland
- dont eat at the cock inn they smoke in the kitchen honestly
- macc is a boring place its full of scallies and moshers. i want to know what has happend to steven sanderson hmmm
- Why the heck do every year we get some c list celebrity to come and open our 'FUN'... err 'Day', firstly its over a weekend... so thats more than one day... tradition macc thing to do.... It's just full of sock jockey's scally's and screaming little.... ahem and the best thing about the show is that you get to watch a bunch o gypsey's put up a fair (in there extremly safe way's!!) and hope... just pray that the feris wheel goes on a massacre when the scally's are on board... ahh i love macclesfield....
- How does Dave in Abos recruit such fit barmaids? He's had a whole succession of them!! I think macc is a top place, I've lived there for 4 years and have had a great time. It is pretty cosmopolitan with people from all over the place living there but I have never encountered any animosity just because of my southern accent. Unlike Durham where I went to uni.
- There is life outside of Macclesfield believe it or not, most people who leave don't want to come back including me.
- If you're looking for a house to rent, the women who work for Robert Jordan are the snottiest people I've ever come across. Avoid!
- Macc knocked down the bloody castle to build marks and spencers which is now mother care and they turned the armory into houses. This place could have been something for torists. Also is it only macc council that keep turning around and saying "oh by the way that land you thought was greenbelt turns out its not so were going to build a housing estate we dont really need onit>
- tits
In Macc I feel so happy I could shit.
- BRING IN A LIBERAL PARTY!!! People in Macclesfield keep voting in that old twat because he is familiar and turns on a few Christmas lights each year.... He represents about 5% of Macclesfield ( Rich and over 60 ) WHAT IS UP WITH THAT>>>!?!
- LACK OF AMENITIES FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES...... THERE IS NOTHING FOR ANY AGE GROUP TO DO IN MACCLESFIELD, THAT;S WHY THERE ARE SO MANY HANG OUT SPOTS A FEW YOUTH CLUBS WOULD SERVE THE COMMUNITY A BIT MORE.
- macclesfield is one of those places that you can't stand when you're living there but miss when you're away. the whole town has a bad case of cabin fever, people want to get out and talk about leaving all the time but it's a lot easier (and safer) to stay.maybe this is true of everyones home town.
- That chap John W Griffiths is cited as hero for the town of macclesfield. I would like to say that John W was one of the main reasons for macc's recent decline as a major tourist destination. Fear or meeting james bond lookalikes drinking vodka martini's and driving MG's all over the town is keeping the tourists away.
- Interested in the John W Griffiths comment, nice guy, but why?
- Macclesfield is hell! if you are living their escape or die.
- a few pints listening to keith
- why build a bypass that runs through the town centre?
why so many roundabouts?
what does maccles mean?
beer & sex & chips & gravy
- Th crappest thing about Macc has definately got to be the godamn scallies who insist on ruining anything for anyone and constantly asking for 50p for the train. Scumsuckers. I mean do they look in the mirror each day and go 'yes, I look good and respect myself and the things I do.' They must open their wardrobes each morning and ask themselves three questions
1. 'Which pair of adiddas kecks with the poppers down the side shall I wear today?'
2. 'How much gel is it possible to put on one closely shaved head?'
3. 'Just how high can I pearch my cap on my head in order to make me look taller and therefore threatening?'
Di*#wads
- Its so depressing
- Macc is fuckin brilliant
- Nowt wrong with Macc, good place to live, good live music, friendly crowd.
- Moss rose estate is really badd!!!!
- Sexiest barmaid - Katie at Abo's
- The Macc Lads came from here so it must be a cool place
- The best of Macclesfield? The town is rich in its own brand of history and tradition. I enjoyed it very much. Everything from the pubs to countryside. It's a place where real people live, real lives. It requires a degree of intelligence to appreciate. It's not known for anything much, which allows it to be passed over by most people. If you are the simple type that requires a great deal of external stimulant to keep you happy then go live/visit Blackpool or an ally in Liverpool.
- Basically Macclesfield is shite. The best thing in town is the ramp. It's shit though. Half the time it's taken over by shitsucking narrow mined townies. But we don't mind, haha Ñ after all, we get on so well. Not.
- Macc is shite?! Forget skateboarding, Macc has got it for motorsport!! The roads between Macc and Buxton are held in the same light as those used for the TT in the isle of man. Probably why there's been 15 people killed in the last year on the same road.
- Macc is not shite - you're forgetting Macclesfield Town - pride of the non league clubs, and the only football team in the land to lend a stand to Silverstone for the British Grand Prix.
- No, Macc really IS shite. And the Millstone's not ace, just a good egg in a terrible place...
- Two types of people hate Macc -- those who've never been there and those who've never been anywhere else! I've lived all over Britain and the world, and Macc really is one of the most livable places I've encountered.
- Your synopsis of Macc is interesting. As a US military pilot married to a Macc girl (she must be the only nice looking one!) I have to say that I like the area. Not Macc itself, but the Cheshire Hills around it. The nearby pubs are great (The Hanging Gate... up in the hills) and there is another one out towards Rainow (sp) but I forget the name of it. As for the music scene????? Never found it.
- Macclesfield is a buzzing place with a lot of smart people; I agree it has a problem with the scum from the surrounding areas, mentioning no places like Vicky Flats oops!!!!!!!. The football team Macc town is the best team in the country and to all of you who say it isn't you can p+** off. If you know any of the people in the upper sixth e.g. Pinny or Chris Bridle say bonjour from Wiffter in the Philippines. Also tell the scum to take a hike (I can't believe I am being so pleasant).
- Macc is the best place in the world, you should try living in Blackpool. How can you talk about the Bulls Head and the Millstone when we have the Sun Inn?
- Macc is alright - it has some of the greatest roads in the country is near Manchester - but not too near. However the nightlife is poo and even with a new late bar/club thingy the Nags head is about as good as it gets, which is saying very little indeed. (Do not under any circumstances drink the eggy beer: stick to bottles). The countryside is fabulous (full of exotic fungus in the late summer, which anyone with half a brain can appreciate
- Too many roundabouts... you get dizzy.
- Half the problem with the traffic in Macclesfield is that no one who learns to drive is taught how to indicate at a roundabout. Next time you're in Macclesfield, just look for yourself: it's a great game guessing which, if any, way the traffic will go.
- The song "It's a long way to Tipperary" was written here.
- I have lived here all my life, apart from some time off in London and Paisley. Bits of what appear here ring true; other bits I couldn't possibly comment on, as I belong to 'another' generation. Fancy that: 'It's a Long Way to Tipperary' was written in MACC. The Ryles Arms is a good pub, but not for the teeny boppers of the 'Flower Pot' variety. Macc Radiators do a wonderful service and at a reasonable price. Get your rads done there!
- The worst thing is that my ex-wife lives there. The best is that my daughter lives there. Plus there are some nice pubs on the way into town from the east. When I used to visit I was in the American Air Force posted in the south. I used to take my then wife up to visit her sister. The town is in a pretty area, but the traffic can be a pain. Personally, aside from drinking, I wonder what else those growing up there have to do. It would seem to me a bit slow for young adults.
- I think it is unfair that you allow Macclesfield to be described as shite. After all, all towns have their shite areas. Anyway, what I would really like to say is that the best thing to come out of Macclesfield: Mr. John W Griffiths. There is only one.
