• Hands up who went to the 7777 Friday discos, all the girls in tiny skirts, push up bras, wedges, a lot of perm and peroxide going on. Some absolute slags wearing really bad orange makeup, and enough gold bling to anchor a ship, smoking a pack of ten L+B (Cheap as ten) and "strawpeedoing" cheap vodka, 50/50 and White Lightning-around the back...where lots of other strange happenings occurred. All the boys-without fail, wore jeans-usually beige, Ben Sherman Shirts-all colours(Apart from scrubbers who had a bit of a shirt revolving system-within their social group). You'd all end up snogging and having a bit of a grope, then everyone would get picked up by their really unimpressed parents, or you'd get taxi's sometimes having to lie quietly in the boot, or walk home, freezing and steaming, because nobody wore jackets??!! Monday would arrive, and you'd sit there either really proud of yourself or wishing o could die for what you'd got up to, and that's all you'd talk about until the following Fridays events.It was all so much simpler then, no money worries, no heavy relationships or kids or uni, or mobile phones.

• Noddfa Chapel Community Project Noddfa is a building that is run by the few, for the many.There is however an element within Noddfa that believe themselves to be the only ones entitled to use the building. They use the building as their focal point for meeting their cronies and lo behold anyone who wishes to pay to use the building. Heaven forbid. But as the ill-literate would say, maybe there is a DOG.

• The people. We came to live here from the sticks in North Wales and found it was the friendliest place we'd ever been to. Really glad we came. Ysgol Cynwyd Sant

• There's now a direct train service to Cardiff - only takes 45 minutes. Also, the people are really friendly.

• Town on a Friday/Saturday night: plenty of totty, and a luverly laugh at seeing pissed-up revellers having a crappy little fight. Who needs Sky Sports, when you can have prime-time boxing for free?
• For a ex-Maesteg man now living in south africa a visit back to my home roots is very welcome, Maesteg as bad as it is, will always bring back fond memories for me.
