• allot of food shops in maesteg!bakers,butchers,cafees,chinese food,indian food, sea food, kebab shops....you name it we got. as for restaurants, theres the bathoovens,the coity.ranch,crystal palace(chinese) 0r an indian restaurant(cant remember the name).

• The Lung Wah is the best chinese food in Maesteg, it was the first take-away in town. Jenny is so friendly towards you and she helps you choose if you can't decide what to have. Jeff the owner is a nice guy but he can be abit shorted tempered somethings>

• Fadhel's chicken and chips (with mayo) is an essential after any night out! Rumour has it that residents of Bridgend have even ventured up to the famous kebeb house after a heavy night out in Cody's!

• the chip off the old block is a nice fish and chip shop but the blue pearl is terrible cos they pick food up with their hands which they don't wash and if thats not enough there is a manky cat running around
• Celtic Cakes deliver cakes and desserts to your house - that's a bit different for Maesteg. Even got a website.
• Crystal Palace and the Old House. Again in ten years time Maesteg will catch up with the rest of the U.K and start offering a better choice of cusine.

• Good breakfasts in the Sawyers.
• One of the best meals I have ever had was in a little known fish & chop shop called - wait for it - Horn's - in Coegnant Road Caerau. Cooked to perfection, very cheap and served with a smile by Keith & Kay. Go along and you'll be pleasantly surprised!
• Lots are banned from selling alcohol after Easter,1999 because of the trouble with people being glassed in the town centre. " Drugs rule k.o?"
• There are at least five bakers shops in Maesteg. all are good. specialities are corned beef pasties, currant pancakes and welsh cakes. There are only two greengrocers but at least four butchers. This tels you something about food preferences!!
• The 21 Cafe is pretty good, along with the Talbot Restaurant for good ole fashioned fish 'n' chips. None of y' foreign muck, butt.
• There's a *fantastic* fish and chip shop called Norma's Fryery, at 1B Penhydd Road, Croeserw. Tell them Mark sent you!
• Loads of cheap chip shops, kebabs, pizzas. Also Spar shops for cheap nourishment.
• Nowhere is better than Nite-bite when you come out of "The Bird in Hand" on a Saturday night. But maybe the alcohol disguises the taste of the kebabs!!
• For more sophisticated eateries, try the Old House in LLangynwyd or for a taste of the orient, try the Crystal Palace in town. Bonnie and her staff will always give you a warm welcome.
