- saffrons at the top of the town - you can't go wrong, waterside cafe (next to the road) is a waste of time as they take forever to serve you, or crystal cafe is the best place for a fry up :) You need a loan for the continental cafe - very popular though
- Main Street within Madison Heights offers such as Over 50's Thursday lunch club 2 course traditional lunch (main & dessert) for only £4.95 per person.

- The Chocolate Theatre Cafe as mentioned in your write up about Maldon no longer exists, stopped trading over two years ago. And as now been taken over by ourselves, as the Waterside Tea Rooms. It is a traditional period property in the Victorian manor, decor and furnishings up to a high standard, selling tradional homemade English food as reasonable prices. Please see web site:- WWW.Watersidetearooms.co.uk.
- THE OAK HOUSE IS A COFFEE SHOP AND THE 1 OPPOSITE IT!!!
- Minor update to some of the info. Effing hundreds of caffs all over town, most to be avoided unless you like Nescafe masquerading as real coffee. In this respect, steer well clear of The Theatre of Chocolate.
Continental Coffee does do the real stuff though, and is open all year round. Tables are a bit cramped, but nice people, good coffee and passable light snacks.
The Oak House is directly opposite. Crap coffee and full of smokers, if you like that sort of thing.
Ripples closed about a year ago - I think it suffered from being at the 'wrong' end of town. Shame.
- The Lock, Heybridge Basin, great for food and to chill
- Oak House at the top of the town is a camelion. Coffee and good food during the day. 20-30's crew in the evenings Bouncers on a friday and saturday. Nice atmosphere any time.
- continental and the whimpy
- Continental Coffee. Run by some very welcoming (ahem)peeps and the very tactfully named Cafe Touriste. Way to be subtle guys. (N.B only open in summer...hmmm...wonder why!)

- Lots of these here - try Ripples for delicious homemade ice cream, Maldon Coffee Shop for an olde worlde atmosphere and great home cooking or Saffron Kitchen for great cream teas.
- loads and loads more than needed, theres that gypsy looking one next to the church and they all spread down from there
- Theres loads of pretentious places that only serve upmarket tossers...apart from the Wimpy..
- Frickin loads of them now. Either Jippo Cafes or Ponsy places that sell a small burnt jacket potatoe with 7 bake beans for about £6.50.
- Maldon is packed full of places to grab a quick snack or a cup of coffee, most at quite reasonable prices. A new place that is definitely worth a visit is 'Ripples', an ice-cream parlour at the bottom end of the town.
- Just what is the bloke who owns the one opposite the Kings Table on? Looks more like a garden centre for diddyquoys.
- How many has this town got now? Saffron Tea Rooms, Toms Cafe, Food for Thought, the one up by the MAldon Bookshop, one in the Kings Head Centre (pit pricey though), and that weird looking one opposite Budgens.
- toms cafe high street
