- queen vic for the older crowd, the white horse for the freaks, coke house for the young and what they think is trendy, the swan - smells, the rose and crown - run down and dirty, the ship and anchor i wouldn't bother, the queens head and the jolly sailor on the quay are popular with the tourists and sunny days, the welcome is quite nice for sitting by the river too
- you is a dick ed mate. maldon is well good :)
- Main Street Bar within Madison Heights, pool tables available
- Avoid the White Horse at all costs!! The staff are downright rude, the music is too loud and the carpets are sticky!!
- The OAK HOUSE on any Friday night, you'll never see so many CHAVs and ASBO'd parents of CHAVs in one place. The bar hanging spikey haired blokes, generally small town scaffolding monkeys......or at least aspire to be, avoid originality at all cost, preferring to look identical to one another. Any comedian would leave with an abundance of material! Listen to any conversation, it will be pointless geezer-drivel punctuated with loud fake laughter. I should mention some of the female bar staff....dim minging text addicts with bad attitudes. Shame really….it could have been a nice place. I moved far away.
- Don't bother with the Jolly Sailor. Shit service and shit food
- the top end of the high street is dodgy. Some nutter called jason pulled a gun on someone up there a few months ago. armed police everywhere, stay away!
- WHITE HORSE, SHIP AND ANCHOR, SWAN, THE CUPPS, THE WELCOME, JOLLY SAILOR PUD, THE QUEENS HEAD. LOTS MORE!!!
- How delightfull it would be if most of these dingy grubby establishments looked outside to view the gentrification of the town going on and began to cater people likewise, it's started and on a roll with new superb restaurants such as Jame's , Prezzo etc, but sadly Greig's is no more. The potential is already here and will continue to grow, only 24 miles to Stansted, have you no idea how desirable this town could be in ten years time?
- Queens Head on the Quay is great. Friday nights in the summer, sitting outside, can't be beaten. Good for families.
- the star in steeple is now run by kel, john and lynn not forgetting the jj hall!! who used to run the welcome b4 its crappy state now!! they have karaoke on fridays and jj still does his dj spot sometimes go and c 4 yourself!!!!
- If you go in the carpenters we,ll just laugh at your silly trousers
- The Anchor.
- what is going on with the welcome is it just me or are all the young people trying to be ronnie bloody kray.
- Yhe Yardarm has seen a change since Nigel and Lou took over in September 02. on Jan 1st they took the pub back to its old roots by renaming it "The Warwick Arms" (a name that most of the older generation in Maldon will remember). Now serving Real Ales and Food this is now a desirable and friendly pub catering for all age groups, give it a go, if only for the free pool on Wednesday!!! evenings
- The Yardarm sucks! It's run by an army of angry looking elves who continually drip! Go to the Ship and Anchor or the Swan for a better night.
- The Yardarm (previously Reflections, Clarkies ....) Great pub to serve the younger looking patron, you can always buy more than alcohol here!!! Very handy for a late drink and if you call the pub first you can have your drink waiting for you on the bar! 01621850122
- Too many to count. So I won't bother.
- Rose and Crown is wicked pool night mondays and darts wednesday but fridays and saterdays are the best disco and lock inns
- pubs in maldon need proper dance music not some has been with a cd player but real djs like brett allender or ocean mccready mixing up the finest house and the ruffest garage
- The majority of Maldons pubs, including the Welcome, are full of inbreads spending their well earnt beer tokens from there low paid jobs in one of the factories down the causeway.
- A note from a front bar Queens Head client. Strangers are not especially welcome, the bar goes quiet and will stay that way until they leave. The side and back bars are acceptable for visitors - no music, no games, no machines - bliss...
- the best one has to be the rose and crown best music best atmosphere and a great crowd, the rest of the pubs are full of wrinklies smoking rollies with pipes.
- Theres a new one opened up it used to be the Yardarm....its now called the Pink Flamingo i think
- I don't what people say The Carpenters is a wicked little pub full of the best Maldonian characters from a man who looks like Elton John to Hughie 'The Mad Scot'. The Welcome use to be the nuts but since the change over of hands it has brought loads of trouble and tacky entertainment. But that's just my view.
- You mention that the Rose and Crown is the place to be...since when!! It's just full of rather sad weirdos since the takeover a few years ago. The Swan is O.K if you're over 45, The Welcome if you're under 20, The White Horse if you're an aging hippy, the Ship & Anchor if you're a local and 20-35, The Yardarm (alias Reflections!!) if you're definitely local (born here!) and a bit of a lad. There you go, my opinion!!
- My local, the Carpenters has been ruined. But then, name me a pub in Maldon which has't. These days, the average guy is hard pushed to find a pub which sells decent beer without having to endure a eardrum abusing shithole full of underage yobs with the manners of...underagers. Perhaps our biggest shame.
- Too many. If you are extremely sad and under 20, just visit the welcome on a friday night. Filled with ex-sixth formers of the Plume School. The Ship and Anchor is quite cool.
- The Carpenters Arms has died a death since Terry Twohey retired after 15 years
running the place, the new land lord has managed to alienate most of the
regulars and the pub is now normally empty.
- Carpenter's Arms - still has a reputation as the druggies' pub, but in reality has been cleaned up completely since ten years ago. Don't expect to score, but you'll probably bump into the person you usually buy from in the saloon bar. Queen's Head on the Hythe - sit on the benches on a warm Sunday afternoon when the tide's in. Avoid the front bar - unless you can mingle easily with the old sea dogs. Welcome Sailor on the Fullbridge - where the teens go to pull. White Horse - live music and reasonable beer. Other pubs are for the brain dead.
- The Jolly Salior, the pub to be seen in when you want a quiet drink. Avoid The Welcome (formerly The Welcome Salior) on Friday and Saturday evenings - too many teenage drinkers.
