Birth name Bryan Scott Cassie

NEWS Bulletin in Various National Newspapers
Race against time to find GI father
Search to help grandson who has contracted rare disorder
THE son of an American GI is trying to trace his father as he tries to gain clues to the nature of a dangerous disease which is affecting his family.
John Redmond, 58, wants to contact his wartime father before time runs out for his own son, Robert, who has contracted the rare blood disorder.
Mr Redmond hopes that by finding his father he can further research into the illness which may be genetic.or even find any info regarding his mother, maybe some of family can give Jonn some info
After 45 years of research, Mr Redmond discovered his conception was as a result of an affair between Elizabeth Cassie and an American soldier.
The GI was stationed near Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, in 1944.
However, when the troops left the area, Miss Cassie left Aberdeenshire for Edinburgh.
In 1945, Mr Redmond was left at a Salvation Army orphanage in the city. He did later try to find out about his family but, after discovering his mother had died in 1967, he decided to give up his search.
However, when his son Robert Redmond, 30, was diagnosed with Wegner's granulomatosis, an illness which eats away the body from the inside, his father once again delved into his past.
Mr Redmond has now placed adverts in Scotland and Aberdeenshire papers and has also spoken to someone in an internet chatroom who knew his birth grandparents.
Mr Redmond hopes he can track down his father and reunite three generations.my son is in hospital in Kansas USA.
"I would like to meet my father before I die, but I realise my son has even less time than me," he said. "It would make it all perfect if we could all come together. It would mean everything to Robert."
He said : "I am not even sure whether his grandfather is still alive but if I can find him or other members of his family we could find out more about this horrific disease which may be hereditary.
"Robert was very excited when he found out his grandfather was an American soldier and there might be a possibility he still lives out there.
"Finding him could answer a lot of questions. If he suffered from the illness, it would make things a bit clearer for us."
Robert was diagnosed with the condition only months after travelling to America to marry his girlfriend, Patricia. He had met her on the internet and planned to bring her back to Scotland to live.
While he was in the US, he began to suffer flu-like symptoms and his condition quickly deteriorated. Robert's condition was diagnosed and he had to undergo chemotherapy. He has now been given just months live and has recently had one of his lungs removed.
The rare disease, which affects one in every million people, has no known cure.
It gradually attacks the body's immune system and forces it to attack its own tissues. The cause is unknown.
Mr Redmond said: "Robert knows he is going to die, but I still search for cures and research. Neither one of us wants to give up so it would be amazing to give him one last present. Meeting my dad would be a dream come true and it would give us a chance to find out if this disease is genetic. At the very least, finding my dad will give us the chance to have one last family reunion."

Yes its fairly the place to be, its retained its reputation of old, plenty of women of low moral standing (shot putters of garret fame), plently of hastle inside and lots of boxing outside. I see that one of the Henderson clan got a bit gobby and bit off more than he could chew (i think its a family thing) then got a bit of a lesson in lying down at high speed. I wonder which one of the clan will end up in A and E next, i am sure we will find out next week. ... more >>
