David,I seem to remember replying once before when you mentioned Alan Wild.It was a long time after your comments so you probably didn't see it. I did hang out with Alan many years ago when i was mates with Ronnie Lovegrove. I think the last time I saw Alan he was driving a truck, I think for Norman Rd Haulage.

Beningars by Andy (Member 10241846) on 13-Dec-2012
Hi does anyone know anything about Beningars margarine factory. Help please
  • Re: Beningars by frank snowdon (Member 10282263) on 24-Jan-2013
beningars(i dont think thats the correct spelling)was on the corner of lavender ave and mortimer rd. the main entrance was opposite eveline rd. evidently the fat or lard that was delivered to make margarine was often mouldy and not very nice. my mum worked there in the 50s and would bring home ice lollies in the shape of teddy bears that they also made.

  • Re: Beningars by sarah frost (Member 10315776) on 11-Sep-2017
Yes my uncle bill and 4 of his sisters worked there Louise, Topsy, edith and georgina frost all worked there.

St Marks Primary School by Neil (Member 10248070) on 24-May-2010
I am attempting to collect facts for a history of the school which was founded in 1884.
In October 1941 the school (then known as Upper Mitcham Junior School) was closed and the pupils transferred to Bond Road School. According to my research, it did not re-open until 1952 when it was re-titled St Marks Primary.
Can anyone confirm this? What was the school building used for during this interval?
Thanks
