• (29/5/2007)The People, there are some great people here, Jennifer Anderson Is a total sweetheart!.Friday nights are pretty good here.Unlike Arbroath, Brechin and places around here, Montrose Is not a shit hole.
• Bugger all!
• As a recent visitor from Ayrshire to Montrose I have to say what a pleasant and friendly place it was. Driving in through Brechin didn't exactly fill me with joy but Montrose turned out to be infinetly more appealing. On my arrival and despite the weather the locals were in good spirits. Everywhere seemed to be closed but I was guided by a lovely old lady to a near by hotel where the owners were kind enough to offer me a coffe and information on what was on in the area (not a great deal as it transpired, but it was Easter Sunday). I met my friend there (more on that later) and there was no charge for the glass of water she asked for, I paid the bill on and off we went. I fancied a walk on the beach and on the way my guide pointed out some local landmarks (church, the academy, golf course, flower gardens,caravan site, Glaxo, tresspassing gypsies etc) and we exchanged pleasantaries with church goers and those brave enough to face the weather closer to the beach front, and what a wonderful beach. Even in the misty, wet and windy conditions a stroll along the beach was most agreeable (more to do with the company if I'm honest). From there I was then shown some of the more famous drinking establishments of the town, had some interesting mushroom soup, taken on a tour of Forfar, out again for a lovely meal this time at Finnaven where we were amused by the torturing of Easter chicks (sorry if the spelling isn't quite right and no actual animals were harmed I'd like to add!)then back to Montrose to relax for a while where I managed to empty a pub with my juke box selection(Gwen Steffani has a lot to answer for, I didn't know there was an instrumental version) before heading back to Ayrshire. So, all in all my trip was a success. Montrose is lovely despite what you locals might think but I have to say that without a shadow of a doubt the best thing about Montrose has to be....my companion for the day, Nikki. • the food in sharkys - try their delicious nachos with extra jalepeno peppers! also the old graveyard between the high street & the academy - especially during the warmer part of the spring - millions of crocuses and daffodils etc!
• Being able to escape to decent nightlife via roads to Dundee and Aberdeen, train links is you don't drive.

• The people, no matter what they say about us retards in montrose, we have big hearts and look after each others dougies!!! mj

• The ever current threat of Glaxo closing.
• My mates. They know everyone but dont act like wan*ing celebrities. Get rid of all the scum, sam thats you too, and Montrose could be a great place to live.
• The merky golf club,montrose fc,some really decent looking ladies, Northern Vaults.
• There are regular buses in and out
• Johnstone,s pies and Frosties rolls

• The way everyone knows everybody elses business apart from there own.

• You'd better believe Bobs Bar is the best thing about Montrose!! It may be full of dirty old men and out the Brechin road but the drink is cheap!!!

• Sharky has been sold to Bellhaven breweries. Does that mean the twat that had it will be leaving the town?
• Oh, yesteryear ... Fifties and Sixties (even early Seventies) Montrose was heaven. What happened thereafter?
• Montrose is on the main east coast railway line and thus has a direct rail link to most major cities in the uk. This comes in handy if you want to escape.
• the best thing about montrose is that we have so far failed to attract the likes of mcdonalds. we do not have any bullshit shopping malls either and chain stores are kept to a minimum so small independant retailers can occupy prime sites on the high street.
