Cheap Food in Neath, Glamorgan*
Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy
You can tell us more about Neath.
Cheap Food
- Pipers Fish Bar (Top of the Hill) past Neath College (next door Tesco Express)
Warm friendly staff and great nosh! Past owners of the Ritz Fish Bar Skewen.
Dont goto The pits whoops the Ritz.
- friends on the new road
- Subway rules!!! its the best baguette shop for miles and its open till like 2am friday nights! so u can have a munch when ur steamin (if they have any bread left)
- There are many, many Chinese/Cantonese and Indian takeaways in Neath. Notable are the Silk Road and New Dragon Chinese Take Aways, but they are expensive. Cheaper, but very palatable is the Central House on Windsor Road. The best Chinese Takeaway in Neath is the Maxim (also on Windsor Road), I have never been dissappointed with anything from here. Indian Take Aways - The Chandi on Alfred Street is the best in town but expensive. Cheaper and with Good Deals is The Chilli Hut. In terms of restaurants, The Plaza (Indian) also on Alfred Street and sharing the same team as the Chandi, are superb. You should book however, because their reputation is huge and you might not get a table. The Great Wall of China (Chinese) is the only Chinese restaurant, and can't comment on their service in house, but their delivery service food is expensive and somewhat hit & miss in quality. The last restaurant in Neath worth mentioning is the Italian restaurant on Windsor Road. I don't know the name as I haven't been in yet, however reports are that this converted cafe suffers froma lack of finesse, the menu is basic and the prices are high. but having said that, I welcome anything new to come to Neath, and I notice the seating is usually full so people do appreciate a change.
- Dont go to Scrummies - The pervy D.J from the Arch has just bought it!
- the Parade diner is our favourite place for some greasy chicken after a load of jack daniels!!! but we eat in wetherspoons a lot too
- eric's
- Mr B's, Maharaja Indian
- ritz
- Scrummies serve nice breakfasts but if you want somewhere which is remotely hygenic, try safeways across the road.
- Memoirs
- belash is the best
- Tapolies Tenessee Fried Chicken Takeaways. Cant say much more than that.
- Yea..It has to be said that if you want excellent food go to Nasib in Skewen, its fantastic..
- Ali's indian restaurant is tops ! Its called 'Fresh Cuisine' its cheap, friendly and first class.
- the tudor inn, for the finest italian food i have ever tasted , and that includes the top london suburb resaurants, great quality food.
- Can anyone see a house in Skewen amongst all of the take-aways
- New Kebab shop, the Istanbul, on The Parade is probably the best of the bunch and least likely to leave you with bad guts.
- Harry Ramsdens has OPENED on the beach in Port Talbot(-Hollywood park, I was there last night, a bit crowded but amazing quality fish + chips - highly reccomended
- ali's spice cafe, now fresh cuisine, one of the best!!!
- Nothing tidy, although Harry Ramsdens is opening down the road (20 min) in Port Talbot in october
- Are there any REALLY good restaurants?
- Loads of cafes, Wimpy, Mc Donalds, Kebab shops etc, Burger King also opening soon!!!!
- There are some good chip shops- Opels (legendary fish and chips), Model, Osborne and Rays (smells better since they changed their oil). Lacking any decent eateries, the only people catered for seem to be pissheads, apart from the Plaza Indian restaurant which opened recently.
- The Cosy Cafe always serves great tea (you can add your own grease) and the biggest, cheapest and most unhealthy fried breakfast in town. It attracts all types
- Burger King has just openned (Dec'98), MacDonald's
- Opals fish and chip bar - the best in town.
- Decent kebabs from the place opposite the post office. Get your pizzas from Topolis (not the Parade). Best sit-down curries from The Plaza. Best Late-night curries from the Bangladeshi Tandoori. Best take-away curries from the Anarkaali. Best fish and chips from the Model Chip Bar.
- The best food is to be had at the aptly named 'Belly Busters Cafe' on Milland Road in Neath. Opening hours are Mon-Fri 8am - 3pm. Sat 8am - 12am. Great value, Excellent Quality & Quantity. Try the Belly Buster Breakfast! I couldn't move for a week.
- Wimpy
- Parade Diner
- The concept of good food hasn't arrived yet. Kebabs sell well. Not even a Burger King or McDonalds, never mind a good Curry House or Chinky.
