Buskers, Street Entertainers
  • I think the tramp that picks up rubbish that you're on about is Tea Bag? Pretty short, long beard and long dark hair? There's usually a guy outside Neath Market playing an Accordian. Swansea is packed with buskers though, especially by the bus station and McDonalds.
  • Jeff Griffiths was alwas dressing up as father christmas and walking up and down the main road amusing the children.
  • Phil the Tramp, RIP
  • Neath occassionally looks like a day out for Mencap. We have several local "characters" including a resident (but harmless) drunk near the post office, a man I can only describe as a Gnome - bobble hat and blank expression - who wanders the streets speaking to his invisible friend, and various other mutants who meander through the daylight hours and thankfully retire at night. The town centre is sometimes lifted by street buskers, but not often enough for a paved towncentre. These street entertainers (and sometimes artists) are a joy, and should be encouraged, instead of the ambulance chasers, reps, and charity beggers who plague the streets around the main square.
  • dont recall seeing many there's often a girl playing a flute outside boots in neath, she's often got a labrador with her
  • phil the tramp, outside the post office, trickster, and outside the market there was a guy playing pink floyd. which was nice
  • that guy who picks rubbish up by mc's
  • What ever happened to Jason Cooch, tuskus geralitus the lighter fluid man
  • There's allways this clown bloke out side Woolworths which is ironic 'cos he never smiles. He plays the accordian. Some boy from the college occasionally stands by the fountain by Safeways playing 'La Bamba' on his guitar.
  • well theres loads of those Scrubers
  • phill the tramp thats all
  • No not really. You always have someone selling Big Issue. I have a joke: Knock Knock Whoes there? Big Ish Big Issue Fuck off you srubber hahaha
  • Lloyd Rivers and Ryan Murray
  • You allways have these drunk bas***ds in the Town Centre, With crappy clown masks. They don't play anything, it all comes out of the stereo in their bag!
  • I THINK THE FOOTBALLER WAS RUN OVER BY A TRAIN IN THE MELYN IN 1999
  • Bernard Parker IS 'ALIVE AND WELL' and residing in Jersey Marine with the ex-landlord and landlady from the old Albert pub (barbara & Geoff Williams) See, there are really nice people in neath!
  • bernard Parker is alive and well. He was taken in off the streets by the then landlord and landlady of the Albert Inn,went to stay with them in the Shoulder Of Mutton in Swansea and now resides with them in their family home.
  • "Bernard Parker"- if the rumours are true Bernard has been run over about 25 times but the last I heard he was in a home on Stormy Down and a reformed character. Bernard was a famous drunk around town for years and was never without his adorned rags and brown paper bag-wrapped bottle. Harmless but fun and a real local character. "The Darvells"- see celebrities. Also an unnamed drunk around Victoria Gardens circa 1985 who displayed incredible football skills and proudly told me he'd played for Man United before the bottle got him.
