Pubs in Neath, Glamorgan*

The place to go for a lazy afternoon, pub quiz or last call

You can tell us more about Neath.

Pubs
  • if u ever want a good night and stay local the best pub 2 go to is the crown in skewen.its full of good lookin girls but thats just skewen girls for u!
  • Market Tavern!!!! love the atmosphere
  • the duke is the best pub on the planet - wise up kids
  • The kasbah was an awesome laugh when it was open but now id say The big cam on windsor road is the best pub in the neath area
  • The Cam or Station house - used to be a great place to get hammered b4 the abbey but now its a crappy restaurant/bar - crap! oh i want the good old days back - the Abbey :-(
  • There are a few pubs worth mentioning. The Wetherspoons pub opposite the train station is sited on the old Police Station site. This is good for cheap drinks, and meals, and because there is not blaring music you can actually hear what you are saying. The next I would like to mention is The Greyhound pub opposite Little Tesco's in the Town centre. Thhis is one of the oldest buildings in Neath. A low ceilinged atmospheric pub well patronised by locals and providing good meals and friendly staff. This pub is at the centre of controversy at the moment because the blind council want to bulldoze it for "progress sake". It's the one place you might take a business pub meal in Neath. It also has an interesting story about the builing itself. Outside the building, upstairs there are 5 windows facing outward, inside however, there are only 4. This is obviously something like a Priest Hide from the 17th century. How can we knock this down?! (check out the windows thing)
  • Scholars was the best in town before it turned into KIWI'S. I know it was a shit-hole, but they had some well fit staff who used to dance on the bar.
  • WETHERSPOONS- or the David Protheroe as it's called we go there nearly every day when we're in college, its cheap and comfortable.-staff are great
  • Hope And Anchor, Neath RFC Club
  • The Colliers in Skewen, has live music Thursday & Friday, Kareoke on Satuday & Sunday, The Travellers has live music Thursday, Friday & Saturday, Skewen is the place to be at the weekend.
  • The Greyhound Tavern, Water Street. Good, homecooked food served daily 12-2. Carvery - Sunday roasts every day. Good beer. Nice atmosphere. Great DJ on a Saturday.
  • if u wanna pull go to the kasbah, cos the birds wear fuck all, dont stand on the seeets!!!tho cos u will get your ed caved in
  • Kasbah is the pits, so why does everyone go there? I suggest U leave that dump and go under the bridge and in Ali's for a Curry.
  • Scholars is the most Kicking where i have worked with the Neath Mafia on the door!!!!!!! i.e. Phill Jones (Wanker) and Frisco!!
  • travellers and the colliers i would say are the best pubs in skewen
  • The Hope and Anchor in Neath Abbey is under new management (Kim and Eddy) and you can have a good nights drinking there Lots of new ideas for meals and a cracking pub quiz on a Sunday night. Give it a try
  • The Angel in Neath has changed a hell of a lot in the last year, no school kids go there like they do around the other pubs in neath. The main age group in the angel is around 18-35( but mainly young people) with sound music, and smart as fuck barmaids - the best so far!!!!!! take a look if you dont believe me! The best time to visit is on a sunny day so you can cool down out side on the benches!!!!!
  • Wallabies, Neath attracts a VERY FRESH FACED crowd. Referred to by some as a Youth club. Well, I like it anyway.
  • there are only two pubs, really in neath that caters for the trends of the more mature customer, there aren't to many bars in neath where you can take your missus out and feel safe. one of these bars is the cross keys in neath, the other it's sister pub the angel maybe a bit livelier on the weekends but it also demands the respect from the public that the cross keys has done for several years now.
  • CHECK OUT THE FARMERS IN SKEWEN...ESPECIALLY THURSDAY ONWARDS.GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM BASED THER ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW ALCO....SORRY PLAYERS
  • dark arch is the place to be! "if you dont pull in there you wont anywhere"! {the beer is ok too!
  • THE DJ FROM SCHOLARS HAS GONE TO THE ARCH,AVOID THIS SMUG LITTLE WANKER AT ALL COSTS!!!AVOID KASBAH (JUNKIES PARADISE)THE DJ'S A PERVERT AS WELL, THE BARMAIDS ARE DOGS!!THE TAVERN IS THE BEST PUB IN NEATH.
  • The Bear is great, and has live music on Sunday evenings, far enough out of town to avoid the usual idiots. In Town, The Kasbah has probably the best atmosphere, though it desperately needs money spent on it. Avoid the toilets if possible.
  • Pretty good pubs in neath - well if your about 70 year old that is . . .
  • the kasbah, commercial street. after lots of undesireables, a major clean-up, a slight shift in music policy. check out special offers. a bouncing place to visit. check out website www.the-kasbah.co.uk (under construction 12/99)
  • Swansea.
  • Pubs are dingy, smelly and smoke filled.
  • Quite a few, although not one really good one. The Market Tavern, The Angel, The Duke (rock pub) The Ives (for those in the menopause)The Ambassador - live music on the weekend, Wallabies, and the newly opened Merlins theme pub.
  • Pubs here come and go in terms of popularity but the Market Tavern is always a popular place. Scholars attracts a raucous crowd complete with local birds whipping their tops off on the stage.
  • The standard way to enjoy the pubs of Neath is in sequence. The full tour goes something like this: Thwe Edward, The Canterbury, The Cross Keys, The Greyhound, The Ives, The Duke, The Angel, Scholars, The Union Tap, The Ambassador, Wallabies, The Market Tavern, The Casbah, The Arch (Pub) - nightclub. Completing the tour is quite an achievement and onlyt the bravest try. If you only want to visit one or two then bear the following in mind. The Cross Keys - Start the night. The Duke - for old rockers. Scholars - the busiest pub in town (this summer) The Market (a Meat Market)
  • Scholars pub is the best thing since sliced bread and the d.j. is the coolest d.j. around
  • Outnumber places of worship (23) at least 4 to 1.
  • Best thing - St Ives Pub.
St Ives' has recently re-opened as an over 25's pub - Make that an over 40's pub... I mean, if I see one more 40-year old woman dressed in a white catsuit with a gold belt, then I will surely cry...
  • There are a lot of good pubs in Neath: Market Tavern, Wallabies etc.
  • Poor. Go elsewhere if possible. Young men, white shirts in winter, singalong to Oasis. Mant pub landlords stuck somewhere in the 1970's boring customers senseless about the halcyon days of Welsh Rugby. Do they not realise real men play League ?
