Hi evrybody. I've just found this site, and it was fun scrolling through the messages, which brought back lots of memories about my time living on the "Old Roan" estate (Orchard Hey). I went to Princess Royal Primary School from1955 to 1960/61, and later to Warwick Bolam Secondary School where I, and some friends started a pop group. We played at school dances, and also at Countess of Derby, and S t. Bennet's Youth Club.
We had to get a special permit from the education authority to allow us to play in licensed premises such as social clubs etc. Those were the days ... more >>

Does anyone remember the Army huts situated next to the Golf course which were used as Netherton Moss school before the 'new' school was built. Mr.Lord was the Headteacher and his wike taught the Reception class. It was the only school with a sentry box. I lived in the last house in Park Lane opposite Littlewoods Sports field. Does anyone remember me?

For those fifteen years that was the social hub of Netherton. Yes there was the primary school, Netherton Moss, but no Secondary School. For most of that period there wasn't even a bus that went direct into Liverpool. There was just the one bus, number 53, that went backwards and forwards to the Black Bull. There wasn't really a pub for us. The Cabbage Inn was hardly Netherton and ironic ally neither was The Netherton which was in Litherland. The nearest pub for many Nethertonians then were the Aintree pubs. On special occasions like Christmas Eve many of us walked across the meadows to the Punch Bowl in Sefton. Surely there are some surfers out there with a remembrance of things (in the distant) past! ... more >>

Hi Alan,
My father Charlie Foster spent his childhood living with his grandparents in a small cottage on the edge of the canal at Martins Bridge (this side of the Cabbage Inn)
The phone no. was Aintree 1
Their business was coal, and they delivered all around Netherton, the coal was brought to the cottage yard by barge. Regards Kenny Foster

There was a cottage on its own on the canal bank, on the bend between fleetwoods lane and st oswalds lane bridges, maybe martins bridge is one of them. I knew a girl who lived in that cottage there I think her name was Marjorie, but cannot be certain, does anyone remember it. We used to go that way when when jack westby at warwick bolam, made us do the cross country wearing white pumps.

I remember that cottage. It was demolished just before we moved to Stonyfield from Downside Close in March 1968.It is still possible to see where the foundations were filled with concrete.Iused to fishing there a lot when I was a kid and on Jack Westbys cross country runs.I left the Bolam in July 1970.I went to Netherton Park and the Bolam with your Stephen. Also the scouts at Netherton Park. How are you both doing?

Does anyone know what happened to Bepo? I haven't seen him for years, would be great to hear from him. Oh and that Dave Wilson I knew him too, is he still looking for the blue thing? ... more >>

Frank, thats great news Dave must have had the scars removed. That one he got from the tree house on Wembley was Particularly bad. Whats happened to Twix and Bommer? Are they still in France sleeping rough? And what about Jackie? Is she still on tour with her band the 'tell me white doves'.

by beanie (Member 10238477) on 26-Jun-2009
Hello there this is my first time of posting as i was very intrigued by the comments about Dave Wilson, i am sure i remember him did he live in Louis Braille big gang of them, David was the scruffy one always scratching his head hung around with the likes of Twix and Joey Lydon, had a couple of sisters and loads of brothers always up to no good wonder what happened to them all? would love to haer from any of them.
- Re: Where is everyone
by Bluey (Member 10238464) on 26-Jun-2009
Hey Beanie, Yeah that Dave he was scruffy, mind you he wasn't the only one, they had a sister called Jackie she looked like she was born with ricketts! I think she was mates with Dotty Grant and Susie Foot. She worked in Ripolts when she left school now works for Character Mailing on Heysham Road. Do you remeber Bommer, I have been trying to contact him for years but no joy. I've still got the tent I robbed off them on the back field. ... more >>
- Re: Where is everyone
by beanie (Member 10238477) on 26-Jun-2009
Yes i remember bommer he was called Chris wasnt he ? went by the nickname of bubbledick i think never had any socks on, do you recall one of their sisters called Marie, nice girl, last i heard she was gay living with some girl in Bolton, would love to see her again and the rest of the family. Do you remember that cat they had it never had a name but looked dead rough i was terrified of it.
- Re: Where is everyone
by Bluey (Member 10238464) on 1-Jul-2009
Hi Beanie, no it was Jackie that was gay, and unfortunetly she never did get rid of those nits, she was a walking (literally) advert for derback. Did you know their Billy, he took up the cross bow, he was often seen watching for washing line robbers and took aim at a few. Jackie unfortunately has never quite gotten over the scars!
- Re: Where is everyone
by beanie (Member 10238477) on 1-Jul-2009
Hey Bluey, i am sure it was Marie who was the gay one Jackie as i recall seemed to have a bit about her ended up going to university studied chemistry.Marie was always in trouble with the police, i remember when she used to go shoplifting at the square in Fine-Fare or Shoppers Paradise and she was only about 6 then, they had an older sister called Barbie who used to batter them,i beleive Barbie is still around and drinks in the Eden Vale most days and nights. ... more >>
- Re: Where is everyone
by Bluey (Member 10238464) on 1-Jul-2009
No Barby married San from the Bungalow, I dont think it muct be the same Jackie, the one I mean is the one who dropped out of school, I say school it was that place on Sterrix lane, can't remember the name of it, she was more 'released' than dropped out. Do you remember a guy called chucky? She went out with him I think.

Hey Riz! Yeah I remember Billy he worn that big green glass ring didn't he? Has he still got that pear in the bottle and I think he had a brother called Bepo last time I seen him I think he was having treatment for some kind of disorder. I am interested in them becasue years ago they gave me some toby jugs, just wanted to return them as I have been to Othewaite and Litherland and they're not worth a carrot! Typical Wilsons. They can their candlesticks back as well! Do you know what happened to the eldest one, Think his name was Ray? ... more >>

Hiya
has anyone heard from Barby Wilson yet? I contacted the Park Hotel but they haven't seen her since she was fired. Carol Ward is in a bad way I hear she's running a shelter for stray, I think Freda Jones is there as well. Carol said Barby was trying to get back with Jimmy frawn but I dont know. Billy Wilson has been seen rafting to S. America. I tried to call them but think they still have the old party line.

Hello, I am sure Barbie Wilson and Carol Ward worked in Lunts soap factory in Netherton one of my old friends Kerry McGuirk remembers them getting the sack for stealing, and then they ended up on the tills in the Co-op in the square.Barbie had a sister Marie who used to go out with Richard Scantlebury who lived in Florence Nightingale dont know if they still together, would be really nice to hear from any of them.

OMG how bizarre i have just had a call from one of the Wilson's ex inlaws Georgina, she was married to Pat Wilson who also went by the alias of Bepo, she told me they divorced years ago apparently Pat had learning difficulties and drink issues and that she saw Barbie Wilson and Freda Jones at a car boot sale in Walton, Barbie and Freda had a stall selling old clothes, she said that Barbie looked liked she was still wearing the old hotpants and white plastic boots she used to wear from the sixties and that freda appeared to be drunk with front teeth missing, georgina asked them how they have been getting along and Barbie said "Oh ye know it keeps the wolves from the door and her in drink" sounds like they have had a rough time, so i wish them all the best for 2010 ... more >>

Small world beanie! I have just found out that Billy Wilson has been diagnosed with touretts, it was bound to happen he just wasn’t the same after they brought out the electric tin opener was he? Although rumour has it that Billy is hooked up with Carol Boyd now, who would have thought hey, I would have put money on it that he would have married Rose Kirk. Heard anymore from Barby (the hunchback) Wilson?

Does anyone remember when the Bay City Rollers palyed the Cabbage back in the 70's? Ah I remember I had to borrow my sisters 3/4 length white pants and her platforms luckily enough they had been passed down through the family and patches were back in so they didn't look out of place.
