- If you want to try something new in New Milton may I suggest "The Old Barn" on Gore Road.
The original barn building (Grade II listed - built in 1833) formed part of the old Gore Farm estate. Over the past 18 months it has been beautifully restored into a Pub, with Restaurant on two floors, Walled Courtyard garden and Hotel accommodation. The staff are young and friendly, the beer and wines excellent, and the food is great too. The staff have lots of ideas for "special events" including Rugby Breakfasts with live TV coverage, Halloween Fancy Dress Dinner, and family Fireworks and Bonfire on November 5th. Watch this space for what's happening in December and January.....................
- An update to the current info. The George pub was closed down in 2001 and is now offices. Bad News! On the bright side however, the Rydal in Station Road has had a total revamp is now a popular meeting place for younger people. The beer's more expensive, but you get live music several nights a week and a fotie table! They don't seem too bothered by under 18s as long as they're with over-18s and aren't drinking alcohol.
Wellington's at the other end of town is still also good, so despite two pubs being removed from the town in last few years, you still actually have a choice!
- For a quiet pint with the family try the Rydall. Wellingtons is the noisiest.
Wheatsheaf isn't bad, lots of locals. The Centurian is the biggest and they have live entertainment.
- Deary me. Descrobing the selection of public houses in New Milton as poor is the understatement of the century. The Rising Sun is OK once you've battled past the queues of OAPs on a Sunday, and also brought your life savings with you due to the extortionate beer prices. The Wellington? Hmmm. The Centurion?? Hmmm. Bareable if you don't mind bumping into everyone you went to Arnewood with who haven't managed to get out of this hell hole
- The George Inn. Place to find cheap ales, spotty adolesants, pool table,
and an understanding bar man.
