  • Reubens has the best atmos, very boho. Nice crepes and paninis. Harveys sandwich bar serves good quality value sandwiches, though they don't have many tables for eating in.
  • Cafe Java and Fodder Monger on the Ironmarket in the town centre. mmmm......cake....
  • cafe java is ACE 4 trendy coffees+gorge sandwiches, bagettes+paninis. on the ironmarket. reubens is also gud 4 its unusaual combinations of sandwich fillings+u cn choose ur bread. chatwins is gud bt no coffe lounge. lots of bars also serve really nice food during the day 2+have special offers: revs, wetherspoons, new bar called red nx 2 it, edwards etc
  • new cafe java in ironmarket is really nice. serves gorgeous 'gooey hot chocolate' - flake/marshmallows/whipped cream mmm!!! fodder monger is nice but there arent many seats and is cramped. better as a takeaway. does nice sandwiches. tea rooms above shops in ironmarket is place 2 take ur mum. very afternoon tea ish with scones and jam!!!
  • Reubens- a cosmopolitan New York Style set against a background of dirty scum.
  • The cafe over the Cook Shop does good cake and coffee, even if the decor is a bit chintzy.
  • Loads - all with the atmosphere of a funeral.
  • The Globe Cafe in Newcastle, one of the best pick up joints n the world.
  • Pablo Franki's- faux Spanish style tapas and non-stop Gyspsy Kings on the stereo. Frequented by teachers. Brassingtons. Worth visiting for the mural and matching menu.
