  • The Baltic is class, seen some great exhibitions there this year.
  • Newcastle Arts Centre, Westgate road, has some cool stuff.
  • Check out the discovery museum- quite hard to find - near ST.James park, and Dance city but often has decent exhibitions and theres always the fun sorta discovery playground, which always has fun games to play.
  • Out of This World in Gosforth is where you will find ethical delights
  • Head for Gosforth near Newcastle for practically anything ethical,fair trade or vegetarian.
  • FAtfield art centre
  • Gemeni's pretty good 4 arts and crafts!
  • Ellula on the street parrallel to the one Pacifics on (i can't remeber the name it runs off Northumberland street next to the Haymarket Metro on the other side of the street, on the corner with KFC) it sells lots of interesting bits and bobs from jewellery to candles and cuddly toys, theres also a luvly cafe downstairs that sells the most gorgeous chocolate cake...mmmmmm
  • Cardbar sells cool cards for all occasions and it is really cool.
  • The Laing Art Gallery is brilliant, with both contemporary and classic art. There are also loads of little galleries around the place, just go and look. Coming soon to Newcastles south bank, is the Baltic art development which when completed will be the UK's largest contemporary arts centre outside of London. Also on the same site will be the (£150m?) regional music centre, a sort of sydney oprah house on acid. This will house the northern symphonia and Folkworks, the national folk music people. Should be Large!
  • there r some pretty good studenty cafe around the central station area. Salsa is a good one and the heaven cafe is worth a look too.
