  • old eldon square on a sat afternoon..all young punks and the rest having a chat, just like handleyside arcade before they flattened it!
  • The bars kick ass. Its a clean, safe and friendly place on the whole. The place does have a buzz to it that you feel part of living here. Geordie drinking culture is a splendid thing. Sodom and Gomora got nothin on the Bigg Market at the weekend
  • Lots of shopping. Lots of hang out spots. Good art and cultural scene Shops at Chillingham road and Jesmond
  • The People!!! Very friendly and great atmosphere. The array of nightlife available and ST.James - the best supporters in the world
  • SKATING
  • Friendliness
  • The fabulous Geordies. The funniest and the most friendly and at the same time the most serious people in the UK. They always provide you with two sets of directions, one simple, the other their own personal convoluted path. Forget the rumours, any person in a Toon strip is your new best friend, with no exceptions.
  • people both young and old people have opinions but its the same everywhere
  • its full of retards and lepers for us normal people to laugh at. geordies make cavemen look clever. the women are so ugly the local council have banned mirrors from the city centre lastly alan "mary poppins" shearer and his wasted career at a second rate club. just what has he won at the (car)toon answer= nothing !!!!!
  • Stand on the Millenium Bridge and look towards the Tyne Bride! The excellent Metro sytem Walking from the monument down Grey Street then to the Quayside
  • Ikon eldon square and quayside, the gate.
  • Good night life, welcoming city, talkative nice people, great for shopping, chilling and a great cup of coffee!
  • Effortless @ WHQ
  • The roads always lead out and not in!
  • THE METRO underground system! Its faster, cleaner , quicker and more punctual than the London underground and the fact that it isn't overcrowded also helps. (NB In rush hour overcrowding is quite common but nowhere near as bad as on the Bakerloo line in London.) It has two lines, yellow (Circular & Sunderland) and the green line (Airport and South Shields) both are very handy and have plenty of stops along their length. Connections to the Airport and its numerous european flights and the East coast mainline to London (2.5 - 3 hours) and Edinburgh (1.5hrs) make getting to and from Newcastle easy
  • I don't think this city has any redeeming qualities at all
  • anyone fancy a pint ?
  • native, transit and exibition park
  • The best thing boot the toon is the charvas man, we're nee different 2 any fucka else just the way we dress so there nee need 2 start rippin the piss out of peeps ya divvint even fuckin kna! Newcastles the best place 2 liv if ya wanna get away wit shit, n ave a gud time oot on the booze!!
  • Chips, chips, chips. Ossie Jobson's tattoo surgery (he's a genius) The tripe shop in the market The Cult of Mike Neville
  • When Deira gets a bath and people sitting next to her in photography dont have to put up with that smell of rotting flesh.
  • The fierce pride of the North East and coming home from faraway places.

  • goths and skaters and punks and others
  • Nightowls on Metro Radio. Shave a monkey and stick it in a suit, it would appear more cultured, intelligent, well-read, and better informed on just about avery single subject than the saddos that phone in.
  • Great people
  • Airport and train station. The quickest ways to leave the city!
  • Staff in some shops really great - helpful, honest, truthful. Take time to find out what's best for you. If it means a cheaper sale, or no sale because they don't have the product, that's okay. That kind of help makes you more loyal as a customer.
  • Jesmond Dene is really beautiful at all times of year (altho its a bit spooky and scary at night) you can forget ure in the middle of the city, Newcastle is also great for shopping with all the high street shops being here (including H+M woo-hoo) as well as loads of independant shops that sell things that are just a little different.
  • that geordie accent and the fact that everyone is sooo friendly. this place has an anazing atmosphere all the time u really are gona lurve this place-its like going home. The pubs. or its just everything.
  • the great people and great atmosphere away from the cheesy places
  • Night life
  • The friendly people
  • Best second hand bookshop is The Newcastle Bookshop down on the Quayside
  • Newcastle's second-hand book stores. The best is Keel Row Books out in North Shields (not too central but well worth the price of a Metro ticket). Tons of used books on any subject, cheap, real nice owner. Newcastle United FC!!!!!!!!!! And Alan Shearer!!!! One day we'll trash Man U for good!!!!!!
  • Metro FM (one of the largest regional commercial radio stations in the UK)
  • The architecture - southerners think of Newcastle as some sort of industrial horror, but it's city centre buildings are nicer than anywhere apart from Edinburgh.
  • The people. The clean air. The low cost of living. Proximity to Hadrians Wall. The Big Lamp Brewery. The People (they really are great). EVERYTHING! I cannot think of a nicer place to visit, or even better, live. Oh and the links are great we have the countries fastest growing airport, 3 hours to London by the very relyable train service, and ferries to norway, holland and germany.
  • The cityscape. Graingertown, Dean Street, the Tyne Bridges, the Quayside, the Cathedral, the Keep etc. etc...
  • Can I just say that, as a fairly middle-aged person (53) a mate and I had to go to Newcastle on business. We had a whale of a time in the evening. I can really recommend Flynns and even at our age we were welcomed at Julie's nightclub on the Quay. Keep it up Newcastle, you made 2 old men very happy.
  • The range of places to skate, the bus services which (shock horror) are cheap and run on time. Going on the metro underground train and listening to the man that says 'Mind the step please' in an amusing geordie accent. N.U.F.C! Howay tha toon! (I could go on...) The breeding of good skateboarders destined to go far...
  • There isn't a better place in Britain to have a thoroughly enjoyable drinking session, regardless of whether you do it on the Quayside, in the Bigg Market or round the Haymarket. Superb night out with real variety.
  • * some of the best second-hand-bookstores, especially Keelrow Books in North Shields.
  • The friendly nature of MOST of the people especially the surfers at Tynemouth and the Whitley Bay beach posse.
  • It has the best football team in the North East, and the UK for that matter!
  • Transport. Excellent location in terms of the major motorway link from London to Edinburgh that we sit on. The Metro system is frequent, buses are as "on-time" as you get in England (or so I've found) and don't break down because of a little snow. Late night (post-club hoy-oot time) buses run to various places throughout Newcastle and Gateshead, thus relieving the cost of a big night out (although there are plenty of taxis if you're flush).
  • Everything is at hand: countryside (try Hexham), coastline (try Seahouses), shopping centres (Metro Centre and Newcastle city centre in general where we now have the largest M & S food section in the world), nightlife (137 bars in a square mile). Metro Centre and Newcastle in general means the shopping experience is fantastic. I'm unlucky enough to compare everywhere I go to these places now: and they don't!!
  • "The Hoppings" in mid June are a wonderful, huge travelling fair.
  • Top-of-the-table football but I doubt you'll manage to get a ticket.
  • The people in general are lovely (except a few nutcakes).
  • Women are friendlier and more easily approachable (and prettier).
