• Under new landlady, the best pub in the area now surely has to be The Red Lion at Kirtling Newmarket!! Lunch, evening bar snacks and full a la carte plus traditional Sunday lunch and friendly bar, in picturesque village just outside the town.
• Cheap and cheerful meals at the Orange House in the High Street Excellent Italian food, reasonably priced at Caruso in the High Street New Thai restuarant called Sagodo in the High Street, Expensive but delicious.
• Studlands chinese is a take away not a restaurant and is 2 miles out of the town centre.Best take away however is Golden horses chinese on St. Marys square and is very centrally located.
• The Curry Inn, Old Station Road, Newmarket. The food here is excellent. Not the usual curry house mush here but all your favourites cooked as they should be full of individual flavours.
• For Newmarket's Celebrated Newmarket Sausages go to POWTERS, a traditional pork butcher which has been trading in the town for four generations and still makes the sausages to the original recipe.
• central fish and chip shop is by far the best chip shop in newmarket EJB
• Super fresh bread at Took's bakery in the town center or near the main street.
• The Rutland Arms in the High Street has a wonderful restaurant. They do great Sunday lunches. I also remember eating great sausages; in fact Newmarket is well known for its sausages. The best fish and chip shop is on Exington Road and the best Chinese restaurant is on Studlands.
