- round the back of lidl there is a nice curb/ledge that's waxed up, some pipes, a bank and a set, think it's about 7, maybe a little bigger.
- my favourite skate spot in newport is the isle of wight college. its awesome, got a massive 4 set, 2 3 sets, a sick bank, car park, gaps and drops and the best part is the caretaker lets you skate here. but the window cleaner is a twat and will try and kick you out! gr i hate him
- Possibly the best park on the island. Simple and effective. small qurter leading to driveway with double railed grindbox, this is next to a rather nice box with a rail down both sides, and this all leads to a big quarter. There's also a round rail sloating around somewhere too. The locals are pretty good, shame the park could do with having the wood replaced as it was a bit rickety and worn out, making it hard to pop tricks and shit. But if that's the best park then OH MY GOD you should see the worst......east cowes. that's all I'm gonna say.
- Vicoma, in cowes 5 mins skatin distance from cowes skatepark along the main road through norhwood to newport. on the left you will find lorries 200 meters away over there is the place your looking for. no on earound except a lady in an office, but we did get quite close to her. check it outgrass stairs drops etc.
- Marks and Spencers, some newly put in barriers have annoyed us recently but it is still skate-able, Multi Storey carpark is awesome for cruising down, Sainsburys has a few gaps, Halfords has a nicely waxed curb, Safeways is good-always has its lights on in the carpark at night til 11-ih aswell, Skatepark in seaclose sucks, basically just have a cruise round, you can always find something to do.
- there are some good skate spots in newport like m&s. my respects to crabby(sebastian wake) fromhis mates in middle skol
- us bladers need a mention really, a good skatespot in newport is county ledges but they have been fucked! sainsbury petrol station is quite good, there are some good gaps, but hope fully we get a new skatepark in newport an indoor one, check out http://www.vmxnet.co.uk/i-sk8, and help us get a new skatepark, fill out the online petition.
- Ever heard of Unigate the Milk factory well its a pretty good skating spot all the low walls have this metal coating on them it's like they were designed for skaters or something it has 2 drops the 1st is really pathectic and the other is about 2 thirds of jockies drop it has 1 gap this vary in size depending where you ollie, kickflip ect.. it's best to skate here in mid after-noon it seems to be surrounded by townies at night but not always
The Next place I Know is Just CarPark or Superbuys Car Park
Me and my cousin usually skate here it's good for learning the basics of skating and the curbs are slipplery as anything theirs a kid that skates here sometimes called Jamie he's always bringing out rails and stuff pretty cool.
- Basically M&S carpark is the best you're going to get, however it has started to be infested by Limp Bizkit liking townies, and punk wannabes. The skate park suxs now and you really want to hang out @ the Rec in Brightstone. Thats where the 9th&10th year's hang out, using such words as 'rad','pucka' and other such words that went out of style more than 3 decades ago.
- Rougemount Lower School on Risca Road is pretty bitchin. There are two grindable benches.A pole that we ve left in the bush. Two nice pieces of wood that are exellent for making ramps which are at the back of the school.Plus the place is empty so you won t be thrown out.
- around the back of hmv is a 5 steps and there are some cool benchs in the town square. behind boots metal legdes ana a drop off.a bank in front of the cinema and a big drop next to kfc
- boots there is a metal curb (behind).county hall waxed ledges two drop offs one at the front and one behind the court.7 stairs but the gate will be closed some times and watch out for the caretaker to. the key drop off. the safeways 7 stairs 3 and 5 stairs m+s. staples and the cinama bank and jervis drop at kfc
- seb wakes estate is pretty good there is a hell of a lot of stuff, ledges grind stuff one more thing he is a rich bitch
- a new place, which some of you people may have been to, but go to Count hall. Cross the road and theres a court yard thing through a gap inbetween 2 shops. check it out - its got some nice drops, and a grindable bike rack. One more thing,i think the skate park is definately going to close, and can i just give a shout out to the brighstone brigade, who are going to have a top notch new years. WEST WIGHT FOR EVER
- M&S, Ryde seafront, Sainsburys, all schools are wicked, Halfords, skatepark (shitty and infested with shit head little cocks such as Martin Allan), Bembridge lifeboat center, Gurnard pumping station, Cowes primary school (super cop arse area), Ventnor middle school.
- i heard the skatepark is closing.
- Hey! I have got some excellent news for all you adventurous skateboarders. If you want a good day out, go to Brighstone on the Isle of Wight. It is absolutely amazing. There are loads of steps, banks, and many waxed ledges. This is due to myself, Harry, and the legendary Dawkes who is a god at freestyle. I have recently cracked my ankle, and so had harry, but if you go into Brighstone sometime around Christmas then you will be guarenteed to see some skaters, and the odd gay biker.
If you want anymore information, then you will have to visit Brighstone, and ask one of the "Brighstone Brigade" as we will take you on a guided tour. Also, if you want more good spots, then go to Newport, Freshwater, VENTNOR SEAFRONT - brilliant, Ryde, and the schools in Cowes.
The Island has a great scene, and as long as you speak to a skater over the age or 10, then you will meet a great group of mates, and they will show you around.
Finally, can I just say a big up to my mate Wayne Sibley, who has taken a lot of shit over the past years, but he's a great skater, so keep it real!
- Marks and Spencers, Safeway, new Halfords, sainsburys for carpark stuff. umm skools in wellington road are ok. my skool carisbrooke high has a new block built with lots of steps and shit, i personally waxed them today, they are very easy for noseslides. to get there just go right round the back near sportshall then turn left up the hill. just dont skate past the caretakers house, he will try and start a fight with you, but he isnt very hard. oh yeah and feel free to stick your fingers up at the cameras. makes exciting viewing for the staff.
- sainsbury's has just opened by honey hill for more carpark wizardry, it has banks, curbs and big walls etc. Also the skatepark up seaclose has just been resurfaced and altered the lines are much better and there is talk of expanding it, getting a roof, a mini, and some 8ft?!? quarters
- Skate park in Seaclose near Medina Leisure Center, Carisbrooke Primary School along Wellington road(don't get busted by the cops, they come along in about an hour of skating) Most of the other schools here and there.
- By far and away the best skating is had in Newport town centre. Check out Safeway carpark, M&S carpark, B&Q carpark and ATS for some classic skating sites. A skateable handrail exists in Newport library, near the bus station, and there are some good benches to use in St. James's Square. If you want banks you might like to try Medina High School just outside the centre of Newport. These are good brick banks that are pretty good but are seriously underused by IOW skaters. If you want a good carpark that is quite isolated then try the Riverside Centre just off Newport Quay. Another good place is the Newport industrial estate up by St. Mary's hospital. There you will find handrails, flat, good cerbs, and good drop offs. Also, if you look hard enough there should be many skateable planks of wood all around. In my day when we found one I used to try to perfect my no-comply boardslide to fakie. Damn good when I pulled it off. The IOW has kind of lost its skating enthusiasm recently. The classic ramp at Shide is no more (It was the best mini-ramp in the UK, what with a spine, wallride section, and 3 mini-ramps all connected together). If you do go down the IOW and go to Newport, try and hang around Safeway carpark and the others (they're all close together) in order to meet some friendly locals. They might not be there when you are but they do come out, espeecially at night. If there's no one there you could always try the Newport pubs.
