  • M4 east get out get out get out and so close to Cardiff the only city worth going to in wales. Cearloen awsome village. The fact that students do live here so there is some sort of diversity other then the inbreeding
  • the road out of newport
  • Tredegar House, Riverside Arts Centre, Roman ruins, The Wave, Celtic Manor, lots of cool bridges, down to Earth people who are always ready for a fight, university, lots of new regeneration on the way, Newport is a city on the up and I love it :-)

  • the wide availability of cheap hash, downside being the extorsionate price of descent bud!!!! • THE ATMOSHPERE IN TOWN AT THE WEEKEND. THOSE OF YOU THAT WINGE, DONT YOUD MISS IT IF YOU LEFT (LIKE I DO!)
  • Friendly people, real people and apart from a lot of townies/trendies (who I'm sure are lovely people when not pissed up in glitzy shirts trying it on with some middle aged bird wearing little more than a smile) a good crowd...
  • Langtons Cafe Bar!
  • Le Pub Gigs at TJ's Friendly people and good atmosphere in most pubs
  • Newport Tj's is one of the coolest venues i've been to and it has a cool history as justine from elastica used to live above it I think, and it is supposedly where kurt cobain proposed to courtney love when hole played there. Ive only been there twice, once to see idlewild in tj's and once to see muse but i'm going shopping there 2morrow for the first time and to find the guys from dirty sanches and ask them to suck my dogs dick in a friendly way
  • I know the pubs and the pubs know me. You'll always bump into someone you know and end up having a couple a beers.
  • Some female goths.
  • The fact that it will always be home, no matter how rough Newport gets. And only locals are allowed to diss it, ok?
  • the amount of mcdonalds around the area
  • Get in your car and within 10 minutes you can be out in some of the loveliest countryside in Wales - The Usk Valley, and in another 20 minutes you can find yourself in the Wye Valley, The Black Mountains, The Brecon Beacons - so Newport may be a dump, but at least it's easy to escape!

  • the best thing about newport is that it is in wales. which i think is pretty cool. its got a great rugby team. youve got easy acces to other parts of the country. everyones friendly there and theres a really cool tatoo parlour on clarence place. what more could you ask for???
  • we got lots of pigeons
  • Having the best skate crew in the world, hanging out behind the smelly market picking small scale wars with the townies on a friday night - basically just knowing everybody and feeling as if you belong.
  • M4 Eastwards!!!! nuff said some of the poeple, but most are homophobic twats
  • The football pitches, parks and shops which sell sweets sports clothes and computer games and accesories
  • Newport RFC are quality.
  • evreything
  • It's friendly and not stuck up like Cardiff. I lived in Cardiff for 5 years and liked it but I much prefer living in Newport. Newport RFC, the access to some beautiful scenery, Newport Museum, the cheap house prices, the accessibility to Cardiff and Bristol, Midlands etc. The small feel to the town despite its size.
  • The people are realy friendly - despite what some TV companies say (stick a camera in front of some people and they'll do and say whatever you want them to just to get on the telly). You get violent wankers everywhere, but Newport is one of the friendliest places I've ever been to, and I have only seen one fight on a night out in 6 years of going out every weekend - and that was 2 hair pulling girls. Don't believe everything you see or hear until you've experienced it for yourself.
  • Local people are sound as fuck, especially my mates.
  • all my friend - people in newport are great
  • There are loads of good people who don't take themselves too seriously. Newport isn't thatbad, hae you been to Cwmbran or Pontypool lately?
  • being able to say youe a hard newportonian and being able to prove it
  • the people, my mates live here, its home I very rarely feel threatened here
  • Definitiely has to be Belle Vue Park on a summer evening...just to lie down on a blanket and chill out.
  • The people are a laugh, Its a nice place to live great restaurants, and er...thats it!
  • There is some great architecture in Newport - do glance above street level when wandering around the town centre.
  • 'as gotta be spytty park the hallowed turf of newport afc probably the greatest football team never to promoted to the football league, ithankyou
  • It is, and will always be home.
  • the people are warm and friendly.....
  • I was born in Newport when steam engines not cars used the underpass by the castle. A lot has changed since then and I quite agree any tosser that's only passing through should keep going - if they think Newport's ugly and dirty they should visit London, Paris or Amsterdam. I've lived in Frankfurt for the past twenty years but still come home regularly. What for? The poeple of course - even my French wife feels good when the locals call her 'lovely'. I've seen a lot of the world but nothing beats going into a pub full of strangers, sitting down and just talking. (This never happened to me in cosmopolitan London or Frankfurt). Nice places to visit - Belle vue park,Caerleon,Tredegar house,Any Indian Restaurant.
