- All Newports Cinemas are the same old corporate picture barns. Try the excellent Arts Centre by the river for art-house film productions.
- City Cinema, UGC, UCI, and the rest i dunno, go and look!
- ugc
- the ugc aent bad.
- city cinema - NOTE: u have 2 have the smallest legs in npt 2 fit into the seats in scrn 2 - ugc is much better
- Cinemas - all the standard ones you'll be able to find anyhow... in Cardiff there is also Chapter Arts which shows more obscure stuff and in Bristol there is the Arnolfini and Watershed which also show more obscure/smaller films...
- Ok gotta support your local cinema wherever you are, its nice to go to the big multiplex, but its part of the worrying trend, to get us out in our cars to do things. Your local cinema will show most of the films that you NEED to see and you'll find its helpfully located near lots of your fave pubs - nuff said. Check out Chapter too in Cardiff, it never fails to provide a good nite, well stocked bar there too Hoegaarden Hmmn lovelly.
- All slap bang in the middle of townie territory. Moshers watch ur back. Rock on!
- The ABC cinema in town has re-opened as City Cinema, it has got a kick ass screen (the biggest in wales) and they serve cheap beer, pretty cool 4 a friday night b4 you move onto wherever.
- If your regular to the cinema the best place to go is th ugc, in newport rital park where there is a mega bowl and for you kids out there a zap zone!only problem is you have to travel outside newport center for it
- Sorry, I don't condone filling ones mind with fictional material. Just kidding, UGC cinemas is pretty cool. Except for the horrendous prices.
- ABC is open again and it used to be the best and cheapest and still is pretty good compared o the skanky UCG
- UGC - Newport retail park.. Also situated near Megabowl (always fun)
- UGC...NICE
- The cinema in Newport town centre has opened again - which has meant a price war prices have reduced in the UCI so now it doesnt hurt ur pocket to much when u go!
- ugc is big but miles out of town, metros is small, but in the town center. it also hosted the pritchard Vs dainton video(and is still standing. just.)
- There are now two Cinemas in Newport which are well worth visiting. The UGC at Queensway Meadows industrial estate, which has plenty of choice,is one. The other is the Metro Cinema on Bridge Street Newport (formerly the ABC) it has been renovated inside and the main screen has new seating and plenty of leg room. It also still boasts the largest screen in South Wales. A great place to see the latest Blockbuster.
- just to let you know that the Abc cinema is now reopened as the Metro cinema so that you do not have to go to the virgin metroplex if you do not have to.
- The Bridge Street Cinema near the bus and train station in Newport is about to re-open (after an extended period of closure) as the METRO cinema- Great! A cinema in town again with a really big main screen and a bar - will they take the plunge and programme some decent movies.
- ok so the uci is miles out of town and it costs the world to see a movie but iit is kinda trendy. and that whole film tar name on the toilet door. hee hee u do feel a little bit glam, even i have to admit!!!
- well 2 be honest going to the cinema is a big rip off the only one around is the ucg or whatever its called
and a packett of minstrels is £1.90 !!!!!
they should open up the abc in town!!!
- Well we used to have a classy old Odeon at the top end of the main street. it was
cheap and brilliant in a kind of run down individual way. put it this way - you
never worried about how much you spilt or threw while you were in there with your
mates!! But now it's gone and the armies of darkness, led by Richard Branson,
are winning in their bid to put a stop to individuality in all small towns -
yes you've got it they replaced it with a virgin super deluxe too expensive for
words complex out on the retail park.
- UGC (formaly Virgin)
- UGC is the only cinema left in Newport alougth the ABC is meant 2 b restarting soon and the UGC is huge loads of screens and huge rooms for parking your ass
- Shame that one in town closed, I liked it there. There are rumours that the car park in JF square is going to be turned into a cinema though - time will tell...
- Virgin cinema £5 for adults, mega bowl right next to virgin and a mcdonalds just down the way!
- The ABC has closed, probably due to the disruptive anti social behaviour of the local community.
- COme on Everyone know the only cinema worth going to was the Odean in Clarence Place. Now, like most of the good stuff in Newport it's been turned into a shite, Dodgy Snooker club. When are tehy going to put thise excellent old buildings to good use? Lookat the Art college for example..... Anyway, that's another notice board......
- the multiplex is good, lots of choice
- Virgin Cinemas. Fantastic. Surrounded by Megabowl, Mccluskies Zapzone Mcdonalds etc
- Only the Virign cinema these days, the ABC in the town centre has closed down.
- New Virgin cinema on outskirts by Llanwern steelworks, (very nice), or the ABC in Bridge Street (not bad).
- the ABC has shut down....erm, just a multiplex outside newport
