• Here's a funny story that some of the locals might remember. There was this bloke who had taken over The Swan shortly after being released from prison, hence to say, he was a total fookin nutter. Over time, a few stories came out, and it transpired that he got locked up for stabbing his first wife. Anyway, my girlfriend and her friends had gone in there one night for a quiet drink. Shortly after ordering they were chased out the pub by this prison dwelling pyshco, for no apparant reason. Well, after I heard about this, I decided to seek revenge. That night about 1.30, me and my girlfriend creapt over to the pub, paint pots and brushes in hands. Her job was to paint the windows in, while I left a nice little message for him in bright red paint. Once the job was done we left and went home. The next morning there was much commotion in the village when at about 11.00am The Nutter awoke to find all his windows had be painted in and the words 'WIFE BEATER' scrawled in 3ft high letters along his side wall, brilliantly placed so everybody leaving for work in the morning would have seen it. Needless to say, old pyshco pants was fookin livid, and swore to kill whoever did, but he was so think he didnt even notice my red paint splattered trainers the next time I was in there. He soon left the village...
• The White Lion : good if you like a pub full of pissed up teenagers The Swan : good if you like a pub full of pissed up pensioners, used to be a top pub when Quiggly owned it, but they probally make more money now.
