The Best Things in Northampton, Northamptonshire*
If you're around, be sure to check these things out
You can tell us more about Northampton.
The Best Things
- Go in the summer time to Northampton... Friday and Saturday nights are best.
- The beuatiful surrounding coutryside. and the Northampton Green Festival.
- this town is diverse
- The potential the town has.
- Abinton park,
northamptonians (people who where born here)
Bradlaugh fields
- Wide range of pubs, bars and clubs for a night out...much better than other local towns. Quite a good history, if you're interested in that side of things. This includes a 19th century reputation for political radicalism and the biggest museum collection of boots and shoes in the world. Also The Saints rugby union team are one of the best in the country.
- me and my little basement punk band who are going to be HUGE in lets say 10 years if the music industry keeps going in the direction it is now. Um... the town center is cool when all us teens come out and take over on a saturday-emo's, goths, punks, 'alternatives' together in some sort of sick harmony.
- Daily Bread health food co-operative
- I've been to far worse places, but it must be said that certain areas are incredibly intimidating, even during the daytime.
- Abington Park and the racecourse, which all parks.
- RUSTY SNAILS .COM - www.rustysnails.com
- My bofriends mini skate ramp in his garden. My gay friends very own mini bar in his bedroom remember he's 17 and lives with his gran. Not alot else this town is an utter shit hole-it's boring. What would we do without sex, drugs, rockn 'n' roll, skating nad band practise.
- The town centre is ok - shopping. Drum centre. Didn't you know this is a very diverse and cultural place...um yeah.
- Malt shovel Pub, the King Billy, Imran Balti hut.
- Living there for 16 years
- The chilled atmosphere out of the town centre.
- Easy to get away, not TOO violent(!)
- Abby Str, grave yard, copper number 65, dont dis him hes kwl, even tho he took me in the other day, oops
- The other long suffering grunge kids who have it all right
- good shops like the new 'george' at asda shop.
- skateboarding
- Sixfields in general, now the rozzers sorted it out
- Great town! Like the vibe!
- great residents live in northampton. also it has a lot of history, i loved reading the northampton history books to see what has changed and what is still the same.
- The amazing range and depth of motor-racing engineering and sport and tracks --- an American magazine once wrote that Indy car and Formula One racing was more or less dependent on a 30-mile radius of Northampton --- that one bad batch of fish 'n' chips could wipe out the sport. At one point, even Ferrari were having their Grand Prix chassis fabricated in Earls Barton!
- The shoe collection at the museum. St Giles St area...some nice new shops springing up there (not chain stores), beautiful architecture....a pleasure to walk down any day of the week.
- The racecourse, abington park, soundhaus, black sheep, the buses are actually good, good rail links, huge cinema now, The Saints, me! :oD
- Reasonable house prices, most high street chains can be found here, good rail links.
- "The Saints Rugby Football Club" and "Towcestrians RFC"
- The M1, The Malt Shovel, The Nunn Such Beer Festival
- Nice folk, good ale and good local bands. Look out for a band called Mooch , or something like that. They're very goood!
- This is northampton... there is little to celebrate. Maybe the hope of a nuclear explosion.
- The Welly Rd's got a really good range of shops that cater for loads of different tastes.
- All the greebos are soooo friendly! They welcome strangers with open arms regardless of how you dress - I reckon if some trendies wanted to stand around with us, we'd all make friends with them if they were nice people. There's a brilliant communal spirit among alternative types in this town and everything's so conveniently placed - the graveyard, Spinadisc, Ramsbottoms, KFC and Paper Chain are all in a neat little circle complete with three benches, all on a nice flat wide pedestrianised street that's perfect for skating... man I love this town
- the markett stall on the corner, sells loads of cool baggy's, huddies, patches nad badges etc
- It's a nice decent sort of town
- freinds at the wknd
- Northamptons a great place. Its a complete juxtaposition in every way. Absolutely fantastic. Gonna miss it so much :(
- The people who you make friends with, there are lots of nice people in amoungst the rabble!
- the shops
- the shops
- its a cool place for meetin up with mates and getting to know new faces most if not all of northampton is an alright place to be. but what would i know i have only been ere three years.
- The railway station, the coach station and any arterial road that gets me out of the place.
- Me (skater)
- The shops are getting better. And its looking cleaner.
- the people you meet... either really rude or the nicest you'll ever meet, abington park... nice to sunbath and go talent watching.
- The best things about Northampton is that there is loads of open green spaces for walks, and with good imagination you can pretend you are somewhere else. Harlstone firs is a Fab place to run around, and that Hunsbury park with the crazy moat in (chase the kidies on their bikes tearing up-and-down those red hills mind). You can go skinny diping in the lakes around and about, In fact there loads of good stuff in Northampton. ALL YOU WHO MOAN, MOVE OUT OF THE TOWN YOU ARE DRAGGING IT DOWN
- Northants has better weather than the west country
- The pubs!!! and the buildings.
- Easy to get away.
- The football club... well to me it is.
- Theres a street in Wollaston, Wellingborough called "Bell End" Go look at it and laugh
- the parks - so many great ones and during the summer there is no better place to be than abington park
- NOT YOU
- Good train links, so it's easy to get away!
- The fact that, for all their snobbery and arrogance, NSB students can't spell (see 'I'm an NSB student' below). How the hell can NSB call themselves superior to all the other schools in the region when their so-called 'intelligence' is so obviously lacking. Maybe NSB should go on the 'Demolish-it Now' list, it's obviously not fulfilling it's role of educating the snotty, if not thick-as-sh*t, people that go there...
- pubs, knowing way around, lounge
- The shopping is reasonable.
- the market!!!!!
- student lifestyle - get into it - its friendly, and a great laugh
- the sexy random skaters
- Lot's of parks
- the sexy skaters
- You want a quality piss-up night? You can destroy your liver easily in Northampton, with everything from the weirdly decorated Basemant Jaxx playing Tabasco Jaz, to Bar Soviet, which combines Marxism with flavoured vodkas, to the holes down Welly Road, which just because so touching when you're pissed. Get a kebab from Kebab King, as well, as they understand the construction of a Kebab better than Kebabish.
- great bargin shops, brilliant market & the market people are brilliant too
a A1 taxis,such friendly gang,i recommend them,unlike some firms i could mention,bounds is okay too,rest i,d rather walk to my destination.sally at
sally at gloucester ave, delapre, northampton, sells good quality second hand items, clothes, etc, really lovely lady too
sadly shes closing down,re too high rent charges etc half price sale starts
sept 18th sept tuesday, had some brilliant stuff there.
- It's not Daventry.
- Shopping by day - clubbing by night
- The fact that I am the only 16 year old with decent musical taste; McDonalds; drunk bloke; Shoe Museum; Ethos, a shop selling bondage gear; the amount of sex shops on the Welly road- Northampton now I believe has 5 sex shops!!! Beat that!!!
- I can't decide whether or not the fact that Northampton has got the third biggest underground Mafia in the country is a good thing. Behind London and Manchester. Sleep easy now.
- Cheap buses. Decent range of shops so long as you don't want clothes or music. Not so snobby as Northampton.
- Decent bus service (you don't appreciate it till you move to some backwater), loads of decent shops, many open sundays.
- best things??????in this sh*thole????????
- The fact that hardly anyone in the rest of the country has heard of it.
The bus service (I used to think it was crap but now I live in Rugby it's marvellous in comparison)
A few decent shops.
The Golden Fry chippy on St Andrew's St - great food really cheap!
- There are some nice areas, and they're one reason I stay here.
- The theatre, some of the people, the Saints Rugby team, NSB.
- Gothic revolution, more on the street than usual and trendies ae scared. At the top of abby st we begin. Im waiting for the battle for HMV
- Good rail links. Some nice areas.
- Derngate centre
- MMMMMMM now let me think....yes....errrrr.ahhhhh......no.....there aren't any!
- i am infact a student at NSB, and very proud of it. due to fact we the students of NSB have prospects and intelligence unlike thoses who attend other schools in our region. We mayby protensious, howvever we are only this way beacuse we can be. after all we attend Northampton school for boys, which is full of ledges.
- Charity shops and other cheap places.
- Sweat at Visage or the Guildhall.
- Radlands
- The nightlife is good for a town (about 5 clubs) and the Wellingborough Road pub crawl cannot be beaten (there's about 20 million pubs!!) The shopping is also not bad, because there are loads of shops in a small space, so everything is easy to reach.
- Racecourse
- The Down Under club, next to Ossies on the welly road, is full of beefy rugby players, and rich men, you can always try the bouncy pound trick! wait till an unsuspecting male is at the bar, aproach him and ask him to buy you a drink and pass over your pound to him, nine times out of 10 he will say 'dont worry about it' and give you your pound back.
- One of the greatest things about the town is the potential for insult-related fun. For the troublemaking expatriate returning for a weekend, getting a mate to drive you around whilst you hurl abuse those in the street is sheer fun, and the amount of absolute tossers in the town makes it even better. Caution: You must be seriously bladdered to attempt this activity, and you could quite easily end up in a fight.
- Best things are the market on a thursday, gold street second hand shops, pick up some good bargains, and Thorntons chocolate shop.
- The women on Saturday night
- Being a female skater I have to say one of the best things about Northampton is all the gorgeous skatey blokes
