Cafes and Coffee Shops
- The circle cafe in the Jesus centre is a great cafe sensible prices good food good ambiance changing art exhibitions, great chips!!!
- The cafe in All Saints is lovely - particularly sitting outside on a sunny day - real cafe society
- When I visit Northampton I always try to go to Dreams Coffe Lounge on St Giles St down from the Guildhall it maybe pricey but serves the best coffee and homemade cakes and its clean which is not the case for some. For somwhere cheap and clean to eat the canteen in the hospital is actually quite good. I avoid chains because I like to know where fingers have been!
- Quality of eating places here is terrible!!! There's quite a good cafe that serves a decent veggie breakfast, can't remember the name of it though but it's somewhere round Overstone Road.
- Although there isn't a great range of cafes, one outstanding one is the Academy Coffee Haus on College Street Mews - inexpensive, stylish and good quality. If you're into the big corporate chains there is a new Costa Coffee, but thankfully no Starbucks.
- Stay away from cafe nero unless you want to have your coffee with a load of greasy mullett haired pervy kosovans!
- Nero expensive but those leather sofas rock!
- What? Nero's is nice-there are lots of Kosovans there-not that that's a bad thing. I could get arrested for derogatory comments about this beautiful multi cultural town....um not.
- Cafe morandi baby!
you'll probably catch two beautiful ladies hanging out on the sofas towards the front window on a monday afternoon..
- go to pumpernickels on the drapery. great sandwiches
- You may laugh, but the cafe just inside the General Hospital (Cliftonville entrance) does a belting coffee for just £1.40, in a big mug as well. You could do a lot worse, so give it a try. Mornings and lunchtimes.
- Cafa Nero, totally great
- Cafe Nero
- jennys restaurant is nice.
- the best cafe is probably the super sausage in far cotton, great, cheap food served all day.
- Inside the old Emporium arcade was a beatnik coffee bar called the Cafe des Artistes, run by Len and Anne in 1963-64. Real cool, daddy-oh!
- Caffe Nero is really nice, though can get crowded and the staff take ages to clean up. And there's only one loo. But it's full of Europeans which makes u feel very sophisticated :oD Morelli's in the Grosvenor centre is....well I hate it but they do good Egg Custard pie.
- Several pretty decent ones, but I just can't understand why anyone would pay over a quid for a simple cup of coffee. Greggs knock out a nice sausage roll and custard doughnut for a very reasonable 77p.
- The cafe in gold street, at the top. Alan moore hangs out there and you can see his strange crumbling face whittling bollocks about opium and how johnny depp the ripper once ripped a bangtail at the grand hotel. RIPPING!!!!
- Morelli's in the Grosvenor Centre. 2nd home if you're Albanian.
- Ramsbottoms opposite Spinadisc sells tasty chips for only 60p
- neros is the only decent place - on abington street (the end towards the market square)
- huh?
- We now have a much-welcomed branch of Greggs here! This can only be a good thing. Cheap, consistently tasty snacks, served by thicko capheads but you can't have everything.
- Cafe Nero or Morelli's (do a great cappucino milkshake)
- Try Cafe Rico at the top of abinton street. It's easy to see, it has a great big yellow canopy thing over the front window. They do a mean breakfast, all day.
Oh and the coffee aint too bad either, but if your more the alco-drinks kinda person then you can get bottles of beer with your meal, just don't walk out the door with them, cuz of the whole no drinking in the streets thing, ur likely to get fined! I should know, they fined me!!!!!!
- morreli cappucino (Grovesnor centre)
- Academy Coffee Haus pisses over the competition from a great height.
- Niros on Abingdon Street opposite the market - a little dear, but the best coffee in town
- Cafe Nero is nice and quite popular.
- umm not many decent ones, mostly full of asylum seekers staring at you..
there is a nice posh one down the guildhall road... ummmmmmm
- Sweet Waters on Kingsley Park Terrace is a funky little place, but the opening hours are erratic, so prepare to take pot luck!
- cafe veranda for after hours
- Morandi's at the top of Gold Street is quite nice or Lawrence's in St Giles Street.
- loads of new net cafes and italien coffee shops have opened in town esspecialy it seems down abington street. also one on top floor of the grovenor centre difficult to. but be careful loads of kosavons and pervy idiots.
- caffe neros at a pinch....never go to morellis!
- cjays,10,gold street mews,gold street,northampton.
is in my opinion the best food place in town, all home baking re cakes by
julies mum whose in her late 60,s,the staff care about customers, the jokes
are great as is food which is rasonably priced,my son loves it there.
and hes only 5 years old.julie/chell/lynn/nigel/are a real team who welcome
everyone to their cafe,go try it say b recommended you to us?
- Caffe Nero's is cool. Also Cafe Intimo in Grosvenor centre. Or McDonalds I suppose...
- Do not go in Lily's Tea Rooms (opposite the Guildhall) - expensive for tiny portions, and lets say the kitchen where all the food is prepared isnt exactly clean. Trust me, I know from personal experience. And its not good when you go to bite into a chocolate muffin covered in mould.
- There's that new Italian coffee bar in the Grosvenor centre...can't remember its name but its always full of Kosovans trying to pull. Funny.
- Baker's Oven does nice steak pasties, but they're not doing steak pies anymore (boo)
- Don't go to Morelli's - it's really expensive!
- Lloyds No.1 opposite Spinadisc do a good coffee range during the day. Also The Charles Bradlaugh. The best EVER coffee shop was the Victorian one in the Drapery, but that's long gone. If Oasis ever reopens on the Wellingborough Road, head for that. Best greasy spoon ever. And lastly, The Lodge, Abington Square. Small, very friendly, great food, cheap enough.
- Too expensive. Get some proper food!
- Sweet Waters on Kingsley front RULES! The atmosphere is bordering on cheesy (the owner plays 70s retro kitsch tunes on his keyboard when he's not serving food!) but it's a great place to chill out.
- Morrelli's Cappucino.
- Dont even think about it, use the chippy van and the newsagents
- No decent coffee shops. A Starbucks would be nice.
- I know it sounds like a cliche, but the cafe society thing in northamton is really thriving atm, praps linked to the explosion of student culture in the town in recent years. The Academy Coffee House in Coledge Street makes fine inexpensive food and is a cool chilled place to relax and play board games. Cafe Veranda up near the bounds taxi rank is open to all hours of the morning and is the perfect place to have a post club coffee. It is specially popular with the Indie crowd but is friendly to evryone. Cafe morandi at thetop of gold street is also cool if a bit pricey and tends to have a mixt clientele. Morellis in the Grosvenor centre is best avoided unless you are into characterless coffee shop chains and the persistant background noise of a shopping mall and the muzak versions of manics songs which provide the soundtrack!!!
- gottta be
- There are some nice little ones on the Billing Road at the town end, near the sophis bars.
- When in Northampton call in to Geri French for coffee, a chat and much much more - a more 'personal service' you will not find.
