Musical Instrument Shops and DJ Gear in Northampton, Northamptonshire*

Stockists of gear to make good sounds

You can tell us more about Northampton.

Musical Instrument Shops and DJ Gear
  • You can usually get good deals up at Cash Generator. Loads of amps and stuff up there, and I got a mint boss pedal for £30 (£80 new)
  • Fabtronics - run by friendly people. Great for DJ equipment and amp/speaker systems. Sells Decks, Mixers, Music, Speakers, Amps, Equalizers, Lighting Effects, Smoke Machines etc. Located at the back of The Mounts Leisure Centre. Google Fabtronics for more information. PA Hire available
  • Phoenix Soundworks 5 mins out of town in Earls barton. great shop, loads of Fenders and other cool guitars. no more PMT bullshit for me
  • PMT has just about everything you'd ever want. Music Market, which is supposed to be so marvellous, is run by thirty-year-olds who still act like they're awkward mumbling teenagers and are more interested in tossing around on their beginner's-level cheapskate instruments than they are in helping anyone.
  • St. Giles music
  • Music Market and the Drum centre. the only worth going to in the whole area .. Denmark Street London, Music Ground Leeds. NOT PMT OR SAINSBURYS
  • PMT in Northampton has an incredible selection of decent guitars. But little soul. Try Music Market on Kettering Road. Failing that fuck off to Milton Keynes X scape centre for some nice Ampeg amps and other cool stuff or pop down to that place in Brighton or even nip to Nottingham's Academy of Sound for a laugh.
  • i went to rather be rockin for a guitar..it should be called Rather be joking!. what a crock of s++t
  • TRY OUT RATHER-B-ROCKIN DISCOUNT MUSIC STORE UNIT 107 K2 BUILDING HEATHFIELD WAY NORTHAMPTON FOR THE BEST DEALS IN NORTHAMPTON FRIENDLY & HELPFUL PLACE TO VISIT
  • St. Giles Music is great in the town centre. There are some dotted along Wellingborough/Kettering Road, too.
  • St.Giles is good for general stuff, they have some awesome guitars. Cadenza specialises in woodwind and they're good there. Try going father afield.
  • Music Market is the best for miles
  • KEYBOARD KAVERN WELLINGBOROUGH, BEEN THERE FOR 20 ODD YEARS, LOADS OF MUSIC BOOKS, STRINGS, ETC; SELLS LOADS OF GEAR WORTH A LOOK, GOOD GUYS
  • Professional Music Technology..very Guitar, Bass and Drum orientated, but also sells a small amount of mixers, Keyboards, Synthesizers and more studio equipment
  • OH MY GOD, MUSIC MARKET MUSIC MARKET MUSIC MARKET . Just been taken over by the guy who's worked there for ages and totally revamped and now looks and is amazing.
  • PMT, bottom of bridge street
  • Phoenix Soundworks in Earl's Barton is the only choice for the serious musician. Nice people too.
  • Drum centre and music market-a contraversial choice but hey...
  • St'Giles music is good, the guys are really helpful. I know people say Music Market is bad, but it's not really.
  • Phoenix Soundworks in Earl's Barton is the best Music (guitar, bass and PA) shop for miles, and they will order just about anything for you. Music Market has gone totally downhill recently, it's turned into a toy shop for the spikey Slipknot generation. St Giles's music is fine if you want to buy a piano or a kazoo. Or a metronome. Or an amusing tie with piano keys or a guitar neck motif. Ha ha.
  • Music Market is absolute rubbish. They stick a hefty price tag on seriously bad equipment and when you come to buy it say..."£50 alright?" when it was marked at £60 but is only worth about £30! If you've been there you'll know what I'm saying. gak.co.uk has everything you need at literally half all these shops prices.
  • Phoenix Soundworks in Earls Barton is about the best, St Giles Music and Music Market are both complete crap.
  • Guitarists go to Phoenix SOundWorks, Earls Barton. Really professional. For Drummers The Drum center by the Music Market is the best in the county. get their links at my site www.gigup.co.uk
  • St Giles Music, opposite the graveyard
  • cash converters.
  • music market!
  • The drum centre on kettering road is great, always good service and they can get you pretty much anything drum related. Prices below RRP and plenty of advice.
  • lol. i use cash converters if i am looking for musical instruments cos you get stuff cheaper there.
  • Loads down the Kettering road.
  • Let's face it, there isn't a single worthwhile music shop in Northampton since the demise of Funkshun Music in the very early 90's. Music Market is run by the same guy who ripped me off when I was 16, lol, but in their defence they can hold some (mainly second hand) nice stock - most of the new gear is low-mid range beginners' standard kit. St. Giles Music is a little better - handy to try out the axes there to see if you like before finding them 25% cheaper on the net. To their credit, the staff are damn helpful and friendly.
  • Hard Rock Music has been closed for over a year now, and good riddance to some extremely bad rubbish - the bearded twat of an owner was an obvious Mo lord who banned a mate of mine for "browsing"(WTF?!) and was into all kinds of insurance scams, allegedly. Music Market and St Giles Music are both crap. If you're serious, just hop on the train to Leicester or better yet London.
  • The Music Market and The Drum Center are between the "Chronicle and Echo" and "The White Elephant." Top notch useful Chappies run both shacks and they re side by side to boot. Hooray!
  • There's Music market and St giles music, depending on what you want. For example I'd class St giles as middle class and Music market as the working class of the local musical instrument retail outlets.
  • Music Market on Abington Square has guitars and drums, St Giles Music (on St Giles St, what a surprise) has sheet music, plectrums, kazoos etc, bit expensive though, it has keyboards and violins n' that sort of thing
  • St giles is great go down towards the grave yard can't miss it
  • Don't overlook Ca$h Converters, unless you're trying to avoid as many unpleasant stenches as possible in your life. Buy a cheap drum machine and ruminate at leisure upon the origins of the various stains on the buttons and the mysterious lifestyle of it previous owner(s). This wonderful shop now graces Abington Street, but for how long?
  • Cadenza in Stimpson Road if it's still there, specialize in Woodwind and Brass
  • Hard Rock Music is the biggest joke in town, run by a fat git with a beard who has had his windows smashed numerous times by disgruntled ex-customers and former staff members, possibly because all his stock is shite and he's as tight as a gnat's chuff. Music Market used to be good but these days they sell mostly economy brand junk and employ scary Ronnie Wood lookalikes. St Giles Music is clean but boring! My advice is go further afield and spend the extra few quid on a guitar that won't deteriorate after a month!
  • There's Giles street music! they have a collection of coloured violins!
  • Guitar & Drums Market on Kettering Rd, run by musicians for musicians. There's a piano specialist in Catilian Chambers, down by Lloyd's bar.
  • St Giles Music, the one on kettering road.
  • Lots down Kettering Road, like the Music Market or Hard Rock Music or whatever it is..
  • not many, one on the kettering road quite cool though drums and bass mostly, one down by lloyds no1..mainly for older people who appreciate music
  • ha ha ha ha .,..,.,.,northampton music shops are all wank really.,.,.,St giles is a shop for sunday school mutha fuckas..,.,.,if your into recorders ,books on how to play piano like Richard Clayderman then its your place.,.,.,.,.,.Hard Cock sux!!!! say no more.,.,.,.Music Market is the only place i feel like im in a music shop.,.,.,different items all the time and a genuine rock and roll feel( even if the assistant are too hammerd to help out) its cool! as for Phoenix,,,well,,blatant rip off.,.,.,the guys there are ok very helpful if a bit too much sometimes.,.,., i hope my comments serve someone well.,..,.,Rest in Piss L.S.M
  • The Music Market(?) down Kettering Road.. they've made it bigger to specialise in drums and stuff.
  • What a joke! Hard Rock Music has a handful of guitars, Music Market has been trying to shift the same old tat for years and St Giles Music is only okay if you're twelve and wouldn't know a decent guitar from a hole in the ground. We really need a good Fender dealer in the town, but as it ain't gonna happen anytime soon, pool your resources and hop on the train to Leicester.
  • St giles for you real musicians or music mart for guitarists and drummers down kettering road.
  • music market/maker... Guitar + drum centre.
  • no idea, but theres on on st. giles street whioch is meant to be good.
  • Thank you, thank you, finally Northampton gets a real music shop - PHOENIX SOUNDWORKS in Earls Barton is set in an old factory, the geezers who work there are very cool and they have loads of stuff at some very nice prices - no more getting stiffed by music market for me!!
  • Go to Music Market on Kettering Road - they're cool
  • St. Giles Music is the best place.
  • st giles is ok,urm......but big noise rules!!!!!!!u can hire rooms out to practice in!!!!!
  • You might want to head down the Kettering Road, about 5/10 minutes from town centre, and take a look in Music Market. They sometimes have some nice 2nd-hand equipment.
  • St Giles Music - had to give them a mention cos my best mate did her work experience here and apparently they're great.
  • It's between St Giles Music and the rest, although one guy who works there is a genuine pain in the ass with his non-stop laughing. He'd even laugh if his butt was on fire. It's still the best shop in town though, especially now they sell Squier and Epiphone gear.
  • St Giles Music shop on - surprise - St Giles Street.
  • Hard Rock Music is a really unfriendly place, owned by the most miserable bastard on earth. St Giles Music is okay I suppose.
  • Dont buy any in Northampon unless you have a contact, get them on the internet.
  • St Giles is okay for ordering stuff, LSM is also alright.
  • If you like being ripped off by a bunch of tossers, try music market on the kettering road, they wanted 17% for selling my guitar
  • Go and ask for matt in st giles music (opposite spinadisc). He's in JR Loaded, a really cool band and theyve got a few cool guitars too.
  • music market
