  • The Lodge is run by a fat bloke who was in a failed prog rock band in the 70s, I wanted to record a solo album there and he more or less told me to fuck off!
  • Becks Studios in Wellinborough. Great guy fantastic prices.
  • Practice room for hire at Hot Rock Studio. Pearl drum kit, mics and PA available. Pleasant room, easy access with nearby parking, town centre location. Reasonable rates. email mail@hotrockstudio.co.uk tel.07906758334
  • Big Noise is great. Apart from it's always booked-up...
  • Hot Rock Studio - Premier recording studio in Northampton. Friendly professional service, catering to first timers, and old hands alike http://www.hotrockstudio.co.uk
  • Far Heath Recording Studios is excellant and out in the middle of beutiful northamptonshire countryside. You should check out their webs site www.farheath.com
  • The Soundhaus Rehearsal Rooms, Big Noise, If you ask Tim (the owner) of music market nicely he will let you use the upstairs rehearsal room (of music market).
  • Recording: The Lodge, Abington Square, NN1; Far Heath, Guilsborough; Premiere, Corby Rehearsal: The Big Noise, NN1; The Labour Club, NN1
  • big noise is pretty good-or my boyfriends garage. Summer nights in a garage with a band, beer and music. Rock on - it's the only thing that stops me from killing myself living in this godforsaken shit hole.
  • Big noise is good, I've been there with my band and having a girl in the band is good. There's the 3 boys and me, all I have to do is show a bit of flesh, stick out my boobs and they're really friendly to you! I'm not a tart really... no really I'm not.
  • The sound for the "Frenzy" events, and for the regular Thursday night event at the King Billy is now being done by Motorpriest's guitarist (and sometimes a sidekick). The equipment is brand new, professional and the team are musicians who know what they're doing. If you need someone to run a quality PA for an event or gig, it's worth checking them out.
  • I've posted here before, and noticed that there is still no proper answer for bands wanting to hire a medium sized rig for pubs and clubs. So we took things into our own hands and decided to invest. If you need a PA, mail us on motorpriest@hotmail.co.uk. It'll be relatively cheap compared with some of the local companies, comes with an engineer, and is all brand new kit (which hasn't arrived yet but will be here in the next few days). Otherwise, go to the King Billy and ask for the guy from MotorPriest...
  • We have been going to Big Noise for years and its thanks to them that we are still going. They always do us a good deal and have even fed us when we were broke. We know its a bit shabby but what do you need for a rehearsal as long as you feel welcome. They are not in it for the money (makes a change). Pete was in a band and knows what its all about. Not just running it to make a name for himself. They make an effort.
  • The best(pretty much only)rehearsal studio is Big Noise opposite Domino's pizza. There are some interesting comments below about it being a bit shabby, but then it's devastatingly cheap, and it's not run really as a business, more of a service to the musicians in Northampton because the proprietors love you all so much. And what's the point of having decent kit to hire out when the musicians who borrow it invariably either smash it to pieces or blow it up? If you're a musician, buy your own kit!! I have rehearsed in the Soundhaus before, but I don't know if they still do it, and it wasn't that good as the room was really poor acoustically. Big noise now has its own recording studio, but I've not really heard anything out of it recently. The Lodge is well appointed, and the engineers are very skilled, but I've been to a few sessions there and the end result always sounds the way the studio want it and not the band - but then if you left it to most bands it would sound rubbish anyway, so perhaps that's a plus
  • Pemier Studios- excellent for rockbands.Have recorded CAPDOWN,VIKING SKULL,VANILLA POD,GRAVEL TRAP,GOOBER PATROL,RAGING SPEEDHORN,SWORN INN,SICK ON THE BUS AND MANY MORE.Also some cool Rehearsal rooms.More info on 07850 700370
  • Phoenix Soundworks Earls barton - if your looking for professional gear they have everything, mixers, recording gear, large range of PA's. Hell they even managed the stages at last years festival in the park. get their link at my site www.gigup.co.uk
  • Big noise, the one behind mollys bar
  • the music school on the kettering road. its old but cool.
  • The Lodge which is exactly where I am now. Great studio, great people!
  • the old music school on wellingborough road has to be the best. i have heard of all good things about it and nothing wrong.
  • BIG NOISE is wicked
  • small friendly PA/ Lighting hire - cheap prices to suit all pockets - try Black Cat Audio from Rushden - 07976 758316 email info@blackcataudio.co.uk
  • Oh for Christ's sakes, can ANYONE come up with an alternative to Big Noise as Northampton's only rehearsal rooms??? The guys there are all sound, helpful, and good to deal with against all odds, but let's be honest, the place needs a major overhaul and some decent kit. It's nigh on impossible to get a booking there. Leave it as well-priced rehearsal space for the noisy schoolkids (which it what it is) and lets have a half-decent space at a premium for the semi-pro musicians.
  • A new recording studio has started in Northampton!! Fitdog is the name. Check out their website!!!! They also have contacts in the music business, sign bands etc etc. See www.fit-dog.com for the lowdown.
