10 year old Emma has had surgery for Scoliosis and is now campaigning to raise awareness of the condition and for all children in the UK to have the very simple 'bend forward' test to get an early diagnosis of Scoliosis. She has an online petition at http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/start-testing-for-scoliosis-in-schools. Emma is aiming for 1000 signatures and currently has just short of 300... I'd like to see this figure go through the roof!!! This is an issue close to my heart as my son was diagnosed with adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis at 16 and had surgery last november when he was aged 18 and a half. Many thanks! Hi, i'm looking to set up a new business in the Northwich area and need your opinions. I see Northwich as an up and coming area, but reading your opinions on here, you seem to wanting new and fresh ideas in the area?? I note that you mention the lack of good restaurants, cafe's, drinks bars in the town at a reasonable price and welcoming atmosphere for all. What kind of thing do YOU really think is missing in the area? I'm not looking to open a clothes shop or like, but more..shall we say along the healthy lines with a twist of naughtiness!! I was visiting Northwich with my family a few weekends ago and was impressed by the range of shops in such a small town. I went to the shopping centre and found a small butchers, Egan Johnson's, which sold an amazing range of sausages - as well as lots of other meat. I got a selection of sausages to try at home - stilton and chives, smoked barbeque, French Toulouse and a few others. My father Kenneth Jackson was born in 1921 and lived in Hartford, Northwich. Had brothers Cyril, Clifford and sister Sarah. I think the family lived in a house on The Green. I remember visiting my grandmother there when I was about 3 years old and hearing her kettle whistle. Had never heard a whistling kettle before. I do not know the christian names of my grandparents but know that my grandfather died of lung cancer before I was born. I was born in London in 1948 and we moved to 22 Farm Rd, Weaverham about 1951. We were there when the King died as I heard the gunfire of the salute over the radio. Went to the infants school in Middlehurst Ave, Weaverham. First teacher Mrs Webster, then Miss Williams who became Mrs Holmes and then Miss Markham. Left Weaverham for Crewe 1954. My parents split up in 1957 and I do not know anything about my fathers side of the family. Have checked the 1901 census and found some Jacksons who could have been my grandfather. Ages in 1901 as follows: Harry Jackson 11 Alfred Jackson 12 Herbert Jackson 14 Sydney Jackson 14 William 15 Thomas 16 Christopher 17 James 25 If anyone has any info that will help me trace my family collections would be most grateful to hear from you.
