Plus the industrial revolution was started in Oldham so the worlds recent prosperity has us to thank. And the riots showed em who's boss.
• Education, 3 colleges, cheap in comparison to other out of town colleges, university's, OBMS even does degrees for a quarter of the price of Manchester Met., got to be worth a second thought.
• werneth park festivals ( or threee people paying no attention to poor bands, now walrus are no more, in the rain

• Oldham is slap bang in the pennines. there are hills everywhere you look (as long as you don't look towards Manchester) and some fantastic walks.
• The M6 southbound!
• The Roxy - perfect combination of a good oldfashioned cinema with character, where you can drink and smoke, and yet lots of screens and all the best films. Shame "Lurch" is deasd though even though he was a scary old bastard.

• You ask someone the way to Oldham (hold em) Gets a laugh every time. Extremely good sixth Form.
• Saddleworth Moors...tranquility!

• Countryside/ greenery.
• On a summers day, the moors are pretty, and you get a cracking view.
• The People Oldham Rugby League Club
• Oldham's a top place, very close to Manchester and the breathtaking Pennines. There's lots to do at night, and Manchester's good for shopping, nightlife, etc. The football team isn't doing so good at the moment but a couple of years ago Oldham was the only town in England to have a football team in the Premiership and a rugby team in the top division. Common As Muck is filmed here, as was a film with David Thwelis as a Falklands veteran. Elephant Stone and Love Will Tear Us Apart, two of the best records ever to come out of Manchester, were recorded here.
• That excellent balanced diet, fish and chips, were first thought of in Oldham. And the first Yates Wine Lodge was built in this glorious town!
• The people are the friendliest around The 'Oldham Way' walk in the Peninnes
