• The orsett cock dates back to 1829, where the first landlord was a dan partridge, the "plaster fronted inn" was built on the boudaries of Cock farm, the orsett cock is believed to have been a fierce bantom called ethelred the 3rd. the pub was a travelling in for many years and was mostly rebuilt around 1920, it vastly became a popular stopover for the many "beanos" between london and southend, customers during the war, that were stationes at the army base behind the pub, still regularly visit, to relive old memories, the pub itself is reputed to be haunted by "lizzie". believed to be Eliza Pettit, a landlady from before and during the second world war. strange happenings reguarly occur, and lizzie appears when there is unrest.the pub remains alandmark in the area and still offers the best of british facilities, and is unspoilt by modern refurbishment. the current owner juggles old with new demands and the pub will probably survive another 200 years.

• Wasnt critasizing the talent, there is some great singers in the oc, most of whom I know. What I was critasizing is the fact that its the same people singing every week, and always singing the same songs. We know you can sing, just pick something different for a change!
• The Orsett Cock Pub is brilliant it now has new owners and is now crowded with new and great customers!! Hopefully we will see some new faces down there very very soon! They have new themed nights and if anyone wonders what they are they will have to go down there and chack it out!
