  • Bill Bailey once performed in an underground pub in Cornmarket Street!
  • Inspector Morse. Lewis. All those women Morse supposedly dated ha ha.
  • Thom Yorke, from Radiohead. I swear i see this depressing twat walking down the street fairly often. Always looks at you like you should know who he is, and even maybe give a shit!
  • to call a national front activist a 'very intelligent and admirable person with lots of common sense' seems somewhat misguiding to me. common sense perhaps, not sure about the other 2 ... i hope his time never comes
  • Er, Raymond Blanc? Thom Yorke can be sometimes witnessed perambulating.
  • As an ex-Oxford Boys pupil (er, now the 'Oxford Community School'), thought I'd reel off a few famous past pupils. Some were part of the old High School in Oxford City; this relocated to Glanville Road and became Southfield Grammar School. Off the top of my head and in no specific order: T E Lawrence aka Lawrence of Arabia (family home was 2 Polstead Rd) Ronnie Barker (family home was in Oliver Rd, Cowley) Prof Heinz Woolf (remember the 'Great Egg Race' on BBC2?) Patrick Mower (has-been actor of the 70's and currently on Emmerdale - another Cowley lad!) Some bloke called Gary Parker who went to play for Notts Forest and Aston Villa - lives in Kidlington. There are a few others and I’ll update these when they come back to me so watch this space.
  • Too many to even count. Rowan atkinson is a pretty frequent character around Oxford but is a surly git as well. Seen Richard branson a few times too
  • Sir Roger Bannister, the man who ran the first sub 4 minute mile lives in North Oxford as does Colin Dexter the author, creator of 'Inspector Morse'
  • I'm not sure famous, but the guy with the shark in the roof.
  • Craig Raine, Ian McEwan, Chelsea Clinton.
  • oh come on it's oxford... bloody millions of them!
  • Johnny T: lisa stansfield's and japanese emperor's sister's first love, co-inventor of the real pan-galactic gargleblaster beverege, inventor of dirty dancing, the british john travolta(real life sat. night fever), lifetime de facto world break/hiphop dance champion since 1984 and the guy who arranged for karaoke to be introduced to th UK. jt also the reason bbc totp moved studios.

  • The 60p geezer! - this bloke who asks everyone he passes for 60p. WTF? Doesn't he know people have sussed him out yet?
  • One famous nearly resident of Oxford is Wimbledon nearly man, tennis player Tim Henman (strictly, from the village of Weston-on-the-Green in North Oxon). But his dad Tony runs a firm of solicitors in Oxford city, also called Henmans.

  • Tom Penny, world famous international hero of a skateboarder
  • Can't let you get away without mentioning TV's Neil King, or David Brewis of University Challenge fame. You can see Brewis on the Durham site, too, he's that famous. The cleverest (and most bigoted) men on the planet.
