• Old Sheet music, music books the odd instrument and a metronome or two at Austin Sherlaw Johnson, Antiques on High 85 High Street, Oxford . Austin in shop on Wednesdays! 01865 - 251075
• Cowley Road has a few good music shops and theres one on St.Aldates.
• Theres a good music shop oposie all the bus stops on St. Aldates.
• PMT is a great shop for guitars and most other music kit.
• Ooh, try P.M.T on Cowley Road. Amusing name but brilliant selection of guitars, basses and drums. And very helpful staff.
• Not an instrument shop, but Blackwells does a good range of sheet music.
• There are many instrument shops: try Cowley Road. This is where most wannabes congregate to demoralise and put down any aspiring musician seen as a potential threat. All a bit sad really. PMT prices are Teh Suck. There's a reason it's named after a prolonged painful bleeding event.

• The Oxford Guitar Gallery, South Parade, Summertown has a good selection of high-end guitars, "boutique" amplifiers, effects and pickups for the 40 something Claptonites and Hendrixians. Things to say :- "nice flame", "ah, the triode/pentode switch !!", "My '54 strat/'58 standard is in a bank vault and I need something to play" etc.
• Professional Music Technology, Cowley Road. The Music Box, Oxpens Road
• they're all on cowley. not bad.
• The Music Box on Cowley Road is scruffy and fun. The owner used to sing in Then Jericho! (although some say it was keyboards in Go West...) This is NOT TRUE. The only singer in Then Jerico was Mark Shaw a man with no connections to Oxford and who certtainly does NOITown a music shop. He's still singing with them..
• Near the train station is 'The Music Room' - its hidden under the Lib Dems at 'The Old Jam Factory'
• The Music Box on Cowley Road is scruffy and fun. The owner used to sing in Then Jericho! (although some say it was keyboards in Go West...)

• Russell Acott (High Street) - a reasonable selection of guitars and so on, not many decent synths though. Also boasts a huge sheet music section and a record section (good for cheap jazz CDs).
