The Worst Things

• Gangs of kids here and there at night times but then you get them everywhere...I've never had a problem with them but if you're not local I wouldnt recommend walking around on your own, but its not just kids its other things too, again you get the same problems everywhere but generally I personally feel safe here. I also wouldnt personally swim in the sea at paignton or goodrington sands, not the nicest of beaches and never seem to be very clean...
• Most of the people in torbay are small minded tossers
• chavs - need i say more
• The endless rows of depressing red bricked terraces, make Paignton look like a dull industrial town in Northern England. The fact that Paignton is the English Rivieras poor relation. What Torquay has in exotic Mediterranean vistas, Paignton has its tackey little Blackpool image, its flat dull and in winter is a dull ghost town with miserable architecture. Seafront at night is occupied by chavs, so is Torbay road. Don't come in winter its awful.

• I lived in Paignton and Torquay for 3.5 years (2 Years Paignton & 18 months Torquay). It was the most miserable experience of my life and I believe sent me into a mild state of depression. The range of shops is appalling - I used to come to W-ton to get decent stuff and then take it back to Devon. The people are rude, unwelcoming, unfriendly, seem to think they're superior to everyone else and so far up their own a***s they're stuck. The area is stuck in a "chilled-out rut" which was no good for me, the relaxing pace of life nearly killed me. Everyone lives a geriatric pace of life and the technology is non-existant. Never lived anywhere so primative in my life. Not even Channel 5 - five years after it was launched. The only good thing is the weather. And then there's Gemini FM - a station worth axing to save the taxpayer's money and eardrums. Wouldn't visit again out of choice if I was offered £1,000,000. Nice weather, hellhole of a place !!!

• Parking is not at a premium in this area, but there is ample parking in close proximity.
• Paignton itself
• Lack of quality restaurants....the recently arrived beggar (druggie looking geezer with dogs)...in need of a classy bar or two, maybe a winebar, tapas place, themed pub or something similar...lack of entertainment except pubs and cinema.

• Paignton is crap - there are no decent shops, too many foreign tourists in summer, too many geriatrics in winter and it's miles out of the way of anywhere. Having to go to Plymouth or Exeter (30 miles away) for anything that resembles a decent shop is NOT good. I've only lived there for 21 months and I HATE THE PLACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Ocean pollution. Blue flags don't mean shit. (or they do...) Fights kick off all the time at night. Crap clubs. Cheesy holiday pubs.
• The worst thing is that in common with some other British towns is that the Police still believe that club hours and licensing laws should be based around their masonic meetings.
• The winter - this place is like a ghostown.
