Live Music Venues
- New Management at The Pilot, live music starting again on Friday March 12th
- The Albion in Glebe St is now probably the best for live music.... a total range... a band every Saturday, something on most Fridays.... 2nd Friday of each month an 'open mic' hosted by Andy who used to run one down at the Windsor (which has virtually stopped live music except for Jazz on a Wednesday).. the last Friday ofd th month an 'open mic' hosted by the Diabollix, a folky, Irishy bluegrassy 5 or 6 piece depending on who shows up.... entertaining mind..... and some Fridays a 'Crooner' night with songs with melodies, hosted by Ray Thompson.... all of them different, all of them good... In a comfortable and friendly pub..
- The Windsor Pub opposite Monty Smiths car shop has good groups on Wednesdays, mostly jazz or rock and roll
- Penarth folk club meets in Buff's (Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes!) club in Arcot street. This used to be a great club when it was in the Labour Club, with international guests (mostly guitarists like Woody Mann, Duck Baker, Wizz Jones etc), now a much smaller affair, just somewhere to go and play yer guitar (or yer fiddle for that matter)
- barfly
- Ray Wilson ex Genesis/Stiltskin to play at Paget Rooms 1st Nov 2004,
(this is not an acoustic set, but full band)
- On top of a roof on victoria road
- the cia
- BAND STAND
- go to T.J.'s in Newport
- 70's proggers MAN famously recorded a sought-after live album at Paget Rooms. The place still hosts the occasional nativity play or scout jamboree...
