- The Bears Head is typical Weatherspoon; The Railway has a young crowd weekend evenings, Chandlers at the seafront is more grown up; there are lots of pubs there must be one for most tastes
- penarth labour club is now known locally as the new royal (you dont sign in ! you sign on !! ) and still work ofcourse ! just ask robin & roy on benefit and fastest runners to the bookies ! for contraband vernon orchard/jones or tony (twigsy) perkins !
- st fagans
- the bears head......deffo a gd night!
- the railway on plymouth road
- bears head. what a clever choice 4 a name. lol...seeing as penarth means bears head!! duh!!
- i have seen some remarkably young looking over-18's in the silver spur, downing barcardi breezers
- if you sneak round the back at 02 by the front they give u free bacardi's,
- THE GOLDEN LION GLEBE STREET. Brilliant place great crowd of friendly regulars take any pet you own in but strictly off limits to children. Great Sunday lunches. Mine Host Garry (SNARLER) Hansen Brown has been Landlord for the past 23 years the longest in PENARTH give it a try.
- The Clive Arms is easily easily the best pub in Penarth, with exceptional live entertainment on a thursday night, If you're lucky, you might catch Paul Zervas playing there as he often guests.... Don't miss! A great atmosphere with a superb selection of fine lagers.
- the one by the railway
- Silver Spur(Formally known as The Inn at the Deep end) has changed once again, and under new management has been named the catchy title of 03West (try and remember that after a few) There is a warm and pleasat atmosphere with sports events shown on one of the biggest big screens in the Vale and Cardiff.
- The railway is the most popular but there are quite a few bur I would go into Cardiff myself!
- the station hotel,go and meet wurzel before you go to x-tells, he will show you how do dance
- meet up with wurzel here before you go to x-tells, honstely he can dance??
- you can go the station hotel (aka the top
house) and meet wurzel before you go to x-tells!!!
- TOO MANY!
- The Clive Arms, John Street, is actually very cliquey, which is only patronised by the same 15 or so, 30 something bikers in the area. Very noisy in the evening and generally roudy. The pub closes its custom regularly to outsiders and is ran like a private club.
- penarth ex servicemen club, has great entertainment, good cheap beer, low priced
spirits (not dead ones, thats just the committee) and excellant entertainment on
the weekend. Beware of the hanging judge and his posse (committee).
- Wetherspoons are opening a new pub From 11th April 2000 opposite Woolworths, No pool table , no juke box, no atmosphere, but cheap beer and a resturant upstairs.
- the Station, Cogan, AKA The Top House, decent food at a reasonable price, also beer ditto.
- 'The Windsor' does an excellent lunch at a good price.
'The Washington' is frequented by the New Penarth Yuppies who sit in the window in order to be seen.
- 'Pegs' was so called cos the owner's wife's name was Peggy Doidge. I know because I used to get pissed-sorry, work behind the bar.
- does any one know why the club on the peir was called peg,s
- The deepend is the deepend once again. The silver spur was caught selling booze to 10 year olds and were shut down.
- Ok, the railway. Yes the Clive is good and you get a good pint of dark in the Pilot. Chandlers wine bar is good for Hooegarden
- New managment in queens bakery by the train station, real good food at not to bad a price and gets interesting things on the menu, good for veggys
- the Inn at the Deep End is now the 'Silver Spur' a line-dancing, country and western theme pub, the Captain's Wife at Sully is now a family 'berni' type pub with children's Charlie Chalk play area.
- The Inn at the Deep End is no more. It's now been converted to a line dancing pub called the Silver Spur which attracts line dancers from miles around.
- The Railway Inn, Plymouth Road - The Oldest 'Theme' Pub in Penarth, conversion of the old railway Buildings. Serves good beer and has decent clientele. Older during the day, young poeple at night. Good beer garden.
- The Inn at the Deep End - The Esplanade. Conversion of the old victorian Baths, about 1988. Interesting and sordid history since opening. Poor and expensive beer. Full of PVC and rubber clad pre-pubescents and up and coming wannabe's from Cardiff, Barry and occasionally the valleys. S4C (the Welsh channel 4) use the deep end for Welsh cabaret shows. Live music on Sundays. Members only late license.
- The Clive Arms is set in the middle of John Street, serves excellent Stella Artois and cheap, decent food. Facilities include pool table, skittles alley and a friendly atmosphere.
- Other Locals: St Fagans, Windsor Road. The Pilot, Queens Road. The Albion.
- The Captains Wife, Sully - Good Pub, bugger to get to. Overlooking Sully Island where many pissed up clientele wander over to and get stranded for the night when the causeway becomes covered.
- The Railway. The Railway. The Railway. The Railway. Oh and The Deep end is now caleed The Silver Spur.
- Avoid the Railway if you are over 15 in the evening or you may get into hassle with a bunch of pre-pubescent thugs who hang about the place. Best beer & company at The Clive.
