Does anyone have information on the Morris family.
Originally from Eglwyswrw Pembrokeshire West Wales.
A brother and 2 sons Morris' lived and built houses in Penarth. Joined by brother Joshua in the 1860's he is thought to have built the Cefn Mably public house. and Crompton or Compton house near the Baptist church in Stanwell Road.

Dear Christine Davies,
Joshua Morris was my great, great, great grandfather.
I have quite a lot of detailed information on the family, but will keep it basic for now. There are a lot of names and dates but I will just stick to my direct line and if you need more information on other family members we can correspond again.
John Longhurst(of Nevern) married Elizabeth Phillips (of Newport). Their daughter Mary Longhurst (B.1810 in Newport) married Joshua Morris (B.1811 at Cwmcenau Farm near Poppit Sands). Their daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) (B.1839 at Goat Street in Newport) married John Jones. Their son David Jones married Agnes Pocock. Their daughter Irene(B.1893) married Charles Bryant. Their son Kenneth (B.1920 in Penarth) married Kathleen Lewis (B.1926 in Penarth). Kenneth and Kathleen are my parents. I was born in 1955 in Bridgend. My full name is Andrew William Longhurst Bryant.
My mother has been working on the family tree for a few years and has photographs of and birth/marriage certificates for a number of family members, and addresses of their former homes etc.
When I was growing up we lived at 10 Victoria Road in Penarth.
I hope this has been helpful, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Andrew.

Hi Andrew
I came across Kenneth Bryant when he was named as executor of an ancestor's will. After I Googled him I found your message to Christine and thought I'd introduce myself. Joshua Morris & Mary Longhurst are my 3x great grandparents too - I think that makes us 4th cousins. I've been working on the Morris line for a couple of years and am just putting the finishing touches to a book on the family, to be shared among the other cousins I've found. I'd love to hear from you and compare/swap information. If you'd like to contact me my email is jadiesmum@googlemail.com.
Hope to hear from you,

Hi
My father mother and myself lived in the flat over the coach house. My father was the Gardener to the Home . The building was demolished I believe in the mid60s. We took up residence in 1946 before any of the children were housed.
Please contact me for any more information

Hi Paul, I was in Sea View, the children's home on Bradford Place, Penarth from 1947 until 1953, also my two younger sisters, Deanna and Sandra were there. If you mum was there in 1950, perhaps she can remember us. We were the three Dennis sisters. I am sorry to say, that our beautiful Sea View was pulled down and the children moved to nearby Dinas Powys. They put up a block of flats in its place. Please tell your mum that our field and woods across the street are now a posh retirement home. The rainbow tree is long gone. Tell her that Penarth hasn't changed too much. I was back there two years ago for a reunion for the girls who had attended Albert Road Girls school. If you mum is looking for photos of Sea View children, she can find them on the NCH website, using the search buttons on the left of the page under Wales Children. Good luck to your Mum. Please reply and let me know your mum's name while she was at Sea View. ... more >>

Hello
I was at the childrens home from 1954 to 1957/8. Not exactly sure about the dates but I was born in 1951 so was between 3 and 8 years old when I was. I have very fond memories of my time there. Do you know if there is any way that I would be able to find any registered information of my time there? And do you have any pictures between those dates? Thank you.
From Linda

Hi my brother Desmond and I were at Seaview Homes in Bradford Place Penarth 1956-1958 and went to Albert Road Junior School. I remember a few names such as Leslie Weirich and his younger brother, Keith Leigh or Lee, Tony Calvert, Richard Dragon, the Harvey brothers. Sisters Lily and Lilian were in charge. I have very fond memories of the place and all us kids were treated with kindness.

I used to live in Penarth and I had a friend called Sharon Borley. She'd be about 34 - 36 now.
Maybe an Aunt or cousin?
Sorry can't help more.
Still in touch with a mutual friend if you want me to dig deeper. Borley's not a common name so they must be related somehow.

Does anyone know what happened to Richard Davies (Percy), from 2 Madoc Close, Dinas Powys? I guess he'd be about 37 now and went to St Cyres Dinas Powys and Penarth until 1985. Does anyone know where he is these days?
Also does anyone remember Catrin Lewis fron Sunnycroft Rise Dinas Powys, think she'd be about 35/36 now and went to school somewhere in Cardiff?
If anyone has any idea's please drop me a line!

Oh my God, is that Andrew Surridge (or somthing)?
Don't bloody believe it! How could you and Percy loose touch?
This is Sian Hatcher by the way (Nutty Girl).
Catrin's alive and well and living in Cardiff with her 5yr old daughter. I know, cos I saw her 3 weeks ago.
Been living in Oz for 18 yrs, went back home in June for 1st time in 16 yrs.
That's me silly, not Catrin. Or Should I say Bette Bright? Haaah. Talk about blast from the past.
Catrin hasn't changed a bit, except she's quite skinny now.
Well bugger me!
You'll just HAVE to email me, or I won't give you no more info!

| What Ever Happened To The Houseboat and Family at Penarth Marina?
|
by Vince Shalom (Member 10129451) on 2-Aug-2004
|
To our Family, friends and neighbours and those who would just simply like to know.
We get many requests to keep people updated with what actually became of our 'Noah's Ark' Houseboat, M.V. Picton, the houseboat which was in Penarth Marina from January 12th 1997 until it was evicted on October 28th 2003.
The truth is, we simply can not keep telling everyone exactly what happened because the siutation still isn't over.
Suffice to say that being evicted is not funny, nor coming to terms, with the grief that our five daughters have had to endure, they have only ever known living on a boat as a way of life, not a life-style. We are exhausted! The easiest thing for us to do, (and we would be very grateful if you would like to pass this on), is to direct everyone to the public website www.mvpicton.co.uk
From here, and the many links contained there-in, we hope the above question will be satisfactorily answered.
Thanks to all who have already supported us in our Family Campaign For Justice, any queries can be directed to us at our e-mail addy.
We all desperately miss living on our own boat in Penarth Marina and we certainly miss Penarth and the people of Penarth, very much.
Kind regards,
Vince and Marie Lousie Shalom ... more >>
