  • There are loads of facilities; a new leisure centre, the market, no.8 etc..
  • PHILLIP EVERITTS HOUSE< PARTY ON THE 16th. YES BRO OF JON EVERITT!
  • People from Pershore dont know what real life is because they have never been anywhere alse. Dont come here its the worst place in Britian, Pershore makes me ashamed of my country sometimes. How can a place like this be in our wonderful country.
  • Don't go to Pershore, avoid it like the plague - if you live there already move out and something useful could be done with the land.
  • Since when has Jon Everret's house been the best plce in town? Please! You make me chuckle!!
  • If you value your health and sanity I'd advoid this little hell-hole.
  • This town is the place in Britain which is furthest from any coastline! Typical.
  • Beware the religious groups, some very cult-like tendancies!!
  • Pershore is a small town but is one of the best places for pubs in the country. There are 20 pubs for the 6000 people that live there (the best being the Angel Inn on the High Street)
Apart from the pubs you just wouldn't want to know the place. No clubs, no record shops, no decent clothes shops etc. Go to Worcester.
  • [Disagree about the Angel, but] About the rest of it you are absolutely correct. There is nothing. Go to Worcester.
Incidentally, there is an amazing Bed and Breakfast on the way to Worcester, 3 miles out of Pershore on the A44, called "Caldewell". Well worth a mention.
  • Two good secondhand book shops.
  • There is also a unique annual event: Pershore Midsummer Brass (6th July this year 1996) when there are brass concerts all day in three venues including the fabulous Pershore Abbey. The Abbey itself has many top class concerts.
  • It can be traversed quickly. but there is nothing famous about Pershore (a good source said the pairs were good!)
  • There is plenty to enjoy in Pershore apart from the 20 pubs, all of which I know from my youth.
The town has a magnificent Abbey with the finest ploughshare vaulting in the country. It has a cat's cradle ringing platform, one of only two in the country. Apparently the ringing chamber was designed by Gilbert Scott, the architect of Salisbury Cathedral. The abbey, dating back to 1272, was wrecked by Henry VIII and is only a fraction of its splendour. The lovely font was rescued from a garden of a nearby village.
Pershore has a small museum in Bridge Street (near Belle House, the old fire station) open from Easter to September.
The town is a magnificent example of Georgian architecture, only slightly ruined by heavy traffic. It has walks along the River Avon, a swimming pool and ample parking behind the High Street.
The Pershore egg plum is not much good for eating but is good for bottling and stewing.
Just three miles away is Bredon Hill with magnificent views if you climb to the top from Woollas Hall, near Eckington. The villages at its base are Little Comberton, Great Comberton, Kemerton, Overbury, Ashton-under-Hill and Elmley Castle. All are peaceful with lovely churches.
Apart from the Cotswold villages, (of which Bredon Hill is an outcrop) you can enjoy the charms of my home village with the black and white cottages of Little Comberton which has a duck pond next to the church, or you can visit Beckford Silk which sends ties and scarves all over the world. They are based at Beckford and have seconds from £7 for a very good tie. I recommend them... BR>Visitors can also enjoy Evesham where I went to Prince Henry's Grammar School 1966-73, and which is a lovely place especially down by the river. Eira Carnell (nee Williams).
  • If you are in business and need a professional secretarial service - for all your photocopying (including COLOUR - the 1st in Pershore!), faxing, typing etc. then QUALITYPE SERVICES - Broad Street is the place to go! Friendly and helpful staff (from the ex-owner SUE).
