Cheap Food in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire*

Corner eateries, quick bites and the local chippy

You can tell us more about Peterborough.

Cheap Food
  • The Open Air Diner on Bridge Street, just down from the Town Hall is a great place for insulating your ribs with a good layer of fat. I don't think they've ever heard of salad, if they have it's deep fried and covered in tomato sauce. This is the number one fast food place in Peterborough, approved by the Council as it's the first thing you see as you approach Bridge Street from Long Causeway. You can also sit in their special "customers only" chairs and watch the other fatties getting their daily quota of grease-burgers, grease-dogs and grease-chips. Maybe they should rename it "Grease is the word"?
  • The Glass Onion cater for vegetarians and use Organic and Fairtrade foods as much as possible also using locally grown organic fruit and vagetables as much as possible.
  • mc D's
  • the boro is full of chinese, indian, italian and some greek/cypriot restaurants. and loadsa chippy's/kebab houses
  • loads of curry places, kebab houses and for a nice nite with a nice bird there are some good italians and a greek place opposite gastons
  • The royal arms is great for good food, has friendly staff and good food, main thing about the royal arms is THE GOOD FOOD:)
  • BK, Macccy D's... Ask is good for Pasta.
  • Italians gallore, Frattelli's in Castor is lovely for special occassions, East and Grain Barge both on the river, Loch Fine for the posh nosh in Elton, too many to list, Golden Cod opposite Brooke Street College and Werrington Village chip shop both good
  • the amazing pizza and kebab shop opposite Quo Vadis - give the club a miss and go straight for the munch!
  • Saffron - great food-great people Gastons - if you have more money than sense
  • For a 3am kebab go to Abdullas or Megabite. They are just what the docter didnt order and a perfect mix for Mr John Smith!. just follow everyone else when the club shuts because the whole town end up at one of them.
  • Abdullahs in Cathedral Square for the best in spicy fast food. Clean, cheap, friendly, wikid.
  • Many pizza places Italian restaurants franky and Benny's is good and close to the Showcase cinemas.
  • Key Coffee shop..food so fast ken might move as quick one day.
  • India Gate (opens late, simply great) Pizza Santino's
  • Try Mac's cafe in Mancetter Square Werrington, its the best place for a decent meal or just a quick snack.
  • The Golden Pheasant in Etton Village (between Glinton & Helpston villages, just outside of Peterborough) has a huge menu and is always good, plus a number of real ales.
  • Eat it. May I recomend the Goldern Fish near broadway.
  • Loads of Pubs and restaurants Granary is the best of the lot unless you have a lot of money
  • 3 McDonads, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Pizza land.
  • John Lewis, Delifrance, Abdullahs, Poppadom Planet and tons of chippies.
  • Toninos - the Italian extravaganza. Although they don't like one meal shared betwen two even when the place is empty - generally speaking the food and the atmosphere are not bad and ...value for money. They just need to adopt a little more of the USA when it comes to understanding 'service'!!
