Pubs
- Lost far too many of these in recent times. The Green Dragon is now an overposh, overpriced fancy restaurant called JSW (good luck with that in the credit crunch). The Jolly Sailor has been closed ever since the landlord lost his planning application to knock it down and build flats on it (presumably so he can claim x years down the line that it's not a pub anymore, and the planning application will go through). The Market Inn has been boarded up for at least a year now. The Eden bar has turned back into a shop. Traders Club turned into a wine bar, then shut (don't know if anything's up there now), and finally - sadly - Vertigo's nightlub (AKA Oscars of old) was demolished, to make way for a desperately needed big empty space. So, in short, times are hard.
- the square brewery and the red lion oh and vertigo
- Foggys-lively but sometimes rowdy
George-aimed at the middle classes but quite a range of age
Eden-aimed at the binge drinking party type crowd.Chaotic especially on dance nights
Square Brewery-good local pub,friendly landlord
- Eden-very young college/rave crowd.always good for a messy night out or the Red Lion
- Square B has pool table, up to date juke box and is lively at weekends. Weekday food is great. Foggys & The George are for posers and public school freaks, food is well nice, but expensive. They also get stupidly busy at weekends, so if you want to sit down or hear your mates, stay wide. The Good intent is nice for intimate, old fashioned pubness and the White Hart has a great garden in the summer. If you're 12, head for the Red Lion where you'll definately get served.
- Whats the Green Dragon Like?? What can be done to update it??/ Disco in the function back room??
- Some friendly pubs like The White Hart,The George and The Folly.Others like The Red Lion and The Market ok if you're a boxing fan or from the ghetto.Avoid one called Eden unless you like religious sermons in what almost seems like a young offenders youth club at times!
- The George is good
Dont go to eden full of 15 year olds
and Foggy's is banging on a friday night
- Drink in the Green D if you're only 12. The George, Foggys & Bar Eden are well funky. Square B has had a re-furb, so you don't stick to the carpet any more....
- Some people say spit and sawdust.... but the Market is a wonderful pub, the Landlady always makes her customers feel valued & welcome which I guess is why it is busy all through the week and not just weekends!
- Red Lion is a good place to start the night, before going to Dirty Verts (name not given for condition of club, just a cool nickname for it)
- Market- possibly the worst pub in the world, and that's why we love it so. Makes a change from the Square, which is possibly the best pub in the world as long as you're on the right side of the landlady.
- Tonnes of excellent pubs in town and on the outskirts..its pub land!
- The five bells pub in the village of Buriton ( actually nothing more than another section of petersfield) They have great lager and good food.
- Depends what you're after. For a lads night out - the Red Lion and the Folly Wine Bar are always crowded, and there are dozens of other fairly non-descript places around the centre of town. If you're after decent ale, there are some very good pubs in the surrounding villages - The White Horse (Pub With No Name), The Hawkley Inn, The Three Horseshoes (Elstead) etc.
- The Harrow used to be good and had its own cricket team attached. Is it still around?
- The Harrow is still alive and kicking-shame about the bypass! And you should visit the Trooper inn at Froxfield before it closes it is a real drinking experience.
