The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
  • Hatty West, she just doesn't fit anywhere.
  • Jesses nob!
  • Prozzies
  • THE NEW fat face SHOP IT LOOK CRAP AND IT WILL PROBABLY CLOSE DOWN THE DAY AFTER IT OPENS
  • cinma and we should kill all of le park demolish it and make 1 big sk8 ramp
  • The tattoo shop Body Artz. Mark is a fucking genius!! The Heath is lovely on summer evenings and there are great walks around the south downs you can do from here.
  • be careful at night at the square its full of thugs
  • There are 6 free tennis courts for everyone..but sometimes you have to wait till one is available in the summer...plus there are drunk kids who hang out there to cause trouble..there have been over 50 arrests near the courts...with drunk kids picking on people peacefully playing there. Otherwise the tennis courts are great!
  • Petersfield is one of those rare finds these days - a Market town with a thriving centre that includes bakers, butchers and greengrocers. I believe this is due to it NOT having an "out of town" shopping centre.
The town is 1 hour from London (by train) and 20 minutes from Portsmouth (by car), lying midway between the ancient towns of Winchester (to the west) and Chichester (to the East). Guildford is also only 30 minutes away by car.
There is a theatre but no cinema, plenty of restaurants, a modern leisure centre (The Taro Centre) and a lovely lake where you can hire boats & canoes in the summer months.
Shop-wise, check out "The Little Store" opposite Woolworths and "Nomad" opposite Fosters.
To eat, the Flora Twort restaurant next to the Church is good for a lunchtime. The "River Kwai" being an excellent choice for an evening meal, if Tai cuisine is your thing. It not, there's a Beafeater next door.
  • The town seems to be a much better place to grow up in now than it was 10 or 15 years ago... what does anyone else think?)
  • The comment about the town centre being something of a rareity, as it has genuine shops etc, is spot on. Petersfield still has something of a community feel to it. And this has improved since the by-pass opened two or three years ago, taking a lot of the traffic away from the town centre, leaving it rather more pleasant for pedestrians and cyclists. It's a really nice place now, but probably a bit boring if you're aged between 12 and 25!
  • Visit the physic garden for a laugh - just ask one of the friendly locals to discover it's whereabouts (near the war memorial). If you like herbs it will be fascinating, otherwise it may just be the most boring garden you have ever seen. At least it's free to get in!
  • The Teddy Bear museum in Dragon Street is an unusual and interesting find, expecially for young families wanting an indoor activity on a rainy day.
  • The Winton Players amateur dramatic society put on a pantomime and two plays a year. 1997 is their golden jubilee with the two plays: "Dear Octopus" (10,11,12 April) and "A Tale of two Cities" (2,3,4 October). The pantomime was featured on BBC television earlier in the year.
