No jobs or hopes for youngsters in the town.The local council should be encouraging business in the area and giving the young people a say and some hope of doing something with their lives . • I don't totally agree with earlier comment made about bringing Port Glasgow down. I have been living in Paisley now for 3 years, and its a breath of fresh air. growing up in port glasgow was great, up until they started to close every decent place of employment down. the only teenage crime I remember, say 1985-1989 was either the odd bit of graffiti, or a certain someone who shall remain nameless (you know who you are, mr) terrorising neighbours around port high at breaktime, and making headie stop us going to slaemuir shops for hot dogs and pie and beans. i had the best days of my life in port glasgow and at PGHS, but i wouldn't bring my kids up there now, i miss the port it used to be.

On numerous occasions I have passed through the town, which I have always found it to be quite pleasant, with wide open spaces, well kept public gardens, clean streets and beautiful views of the River Clyde. The articles are incoherent and badly written and were difficult to read, and at best a very poor attempt at imitating Old Scots, as you are aware the residents of Port Glasgow speak English with a Scots accent - not gibberish. As a Scotsman, I found it almost impossible to read your pages, for foreigners it must be impossible to decipher; perhaps you should supply an English language translation. If you want to attract visitors to the area, you need less negativity and more reflection on your positive points. What view would foreign investors glean if they were researching the area, for the purpose of - to say build a new electronics factory? 'Let's look elsewhere! - that's a bad place full of geriatrics, alcoholics and drug addicts.' Now that we have access to such a powerful tool such as the Internet, why don't you use it to your advantage? Tell the world about your positive points, your hopes and aspirations for the future. Turn your shortcomings into opportunities to improve. Describe your masses of unemployed as a potential willing work force.
